He goes to Belgium, and has one season there, and now he's suddenly prolific??? (in a league that's Championship standard at best). Italian colleague in work reckons he'd be a decent backup striker. Never been overly impressed with him myself but I've only seen a few CL games and some appearances for Fulham during his loan. However, it'll be a huge opportunity for him so hopefully he can get his head down and work hard.
of course, back in those days (all those years ago) we were actually excited to sign a one cap Italian international. now we are an established premier league club, we can expect to outbid top ten premier clubs can't we? we will make calculated guesses and keep doing what the owners have done for years. build a decent side and make a profit. pozzos have decades of experience to achieve this whilst other less experienced owners throw millions away and get their clubs into all sorts of financial problems. just enjoy the ride people and trust the second most successful owners in our history.
I can only imagine the plan is to give him until January here and if he turns out to be a waste of time he looks to have the CV pointing to a career back in Serie A. I must admit I'd look a bit more positively on this window overall if we could add someone qualifying as homegrown in the next 2 days.

In this case, he's right though. You have abso-****ing-lutely no idea about Okaka and yet are apparently eager to write him off. I will await seeing him play (with hopeful expectation) before consigning him to the Ibarbo bin.

Know nothing about this guy so only have a 6minute YouTube video to go by. Most of his goals were taps in which I like to see because he puts himself about in the box and is not afraid to attack the ball. Personally think this could be a decent bit of business if we're chasing a game with 10minutes to go and we need to put the ball in box. Will definitely give opposing defenders something to think about.
4 caps for Italy is now 'unproven' to the average Watford fan. £7.5m is cheap. Righto. Besides, the point is your snide 'the club can do no wrong', not the cheap or unproven remarks. I think the club and it's owners have done pretty ****ing well over the last few years and I will give them the benefit of the doubt until it turns out otherwise, as I think they have earned it. This seems to make total sense. We have iggy backed up by sinclair and deeney backed up by okaka. until now we haven't had someone who can replace deeney and let's face it he needs the competition
To be fair I've seen him play live since then. But it's more to do with out very different needs right now, as it seemed we'd be playing with one up top this guy seemed a decent gamble as a third choice striker who may fulfil untapped potential. Right now we're desperate for someone to genuinely threaten our front two and I don't believe Vydra, nor Okaka can do that. The fact he's non hg is the major issue as it stops it being a genuine gamble as it costs someone a squad place.
Geoff Thomas won 9 caps for England. With the sale of Vydra, we made a profit so effectively he was free....I suppose anything free in my eyes is construed as cheap. Yeah it was a dig at the club, because time will tell if he is a better option than Vydra but he is 3 years older and playing in a weak league. At least Vydra had experience of playing in England and the top division. I'll pose the question to you...why not give Vydra the benefit of the doubt? You're quick enough to dismiss him - yet Deeney called him the best finisher at the club and said his attitude was top drawer. In the Premier League you need finishers because we don't create many chances. I'll give Okaka the benefit of the doubt because it's not his fault, and it won't be his fault because he'll be thrown on when we're chasing the game - I'd be massively surprised if he starts unless it's through injury to Deeney, Iggy or Success. So to me it doesn't make sense, and if it doesn't make sense then you just prefer me to keep quiet...because we are not allowed to question anything the transfer committee does. Ok you clearly aren't getting over Vydra very well. He's had chances to impress two coaches now and they didn't want him, the guy was given chances and ****ed it up.
the pozzos have invested so much of their money into this club recently. They are not above critcism but to judge a player before you see him is crazy. nearly as crazy as the happy clappers for boufal etc over the summer who have never seen him play. i am going to trust the judgement of a family who up till the summer owned three succesful football clubs. which is more than any of us on here have done. He might be a pile of poo but he will be our pile of poo and until he ****s up badly then give him a chance. theres more outrage at this than the thread on when deeney beat that poor guy senseless . its just football. The pozzos might have brought some dogs over the years they have had us. But they have made huge deals for us and sold at huge profit. Remember for them its a business model that has worked well for them. Its in their interest to find the gold amongst the rubble. We are lucky that it seems to work and we can reap what they sow. If he makes mistakes on the pitch have a go. like i said before on another thread im so glad half of u dont run the club with ur knee jerk reactions to each and everything the club does. welcome to the club mate.
