Yes, but their Carrillo is an import and a complete unknown quantity they can project all their hopes onto. Gray was known to be not particularly good, even if he's turned out worse than expected

Sorry, I don't see it like that at all.. Holebas was not 'having a pop' in that clip, I think he, Kabs & Watson genuinely walked over in an initial show of appreciation to the fans & then when he heard the ranting, I.e the fan who was being aggressive, he just wanted/asked to speak to him in a non threatening way. Genuinely can't see he did anything wrong or acted inappropriately.

Just calling it as I see it.

The most important thing is everyone has to pull in the same direction. The fans need to get behind the team and radiate positivity. Gracia needs to be given time to bed in. It may take a few games. He is handicapped by injuries which does make it imperative that Gino gets players in. But they have to add to the squad and contend for first team places.

The lack of competition in the squad is a factor. Players are content to carry on knowing they can still walk into the team. I would never criticize Gino and company. Everything they have done for the club is a positive from the infrastructure to not sponsoring the stands and taking care of GT's funeral and statue. But to protect his investment Gino needs to shell out a little.

Other clubs are doing so. It is a calculated gamble but ending up in the Championship which is ever so competitive and has clubs being richly funded means relegation will not be automatically followed by promotion, no matter the parachute payments. It would also set the long term plan back. So by Wednesday it is imperative that three to four players are brought in. The current squad needs a lift and competition and a rise in quality because what are normally squad players are not really up to it.

Swansea, Palace and Southampton (Guido Carillo is a highly promising talent that has yet to kick on from his initial burst at Estudiantes but showed revival at Monaco albeit more of a playmaking forward than out and out scorer) are all spending funds. We desperately need that as well because the current injury list is not going to clear up overnight. The injuries also mean players that could have been rested and cycled are playing continually with a detrimental effect on their performance. Especially those with all out action games like Richarlison and Doucoure.

Gracia needs to just target five wins against teams outside of the top six and who knows (unlikely as it seems at present) sneak a point or so from the top six to secure survival. We need to give him a little time and Gino and Giraldi need to help him out as well.

I was at the front near to the Holebas incident. Kabasele seemed apologetic, Holebas openly and quite clearly offered fans over the barrier

Looks like the fan was being a complete knobend. Holebas just asked the guy to come over. Wasnt the brightest thing to do but wasn't calling for a scrap.

The guy in the stand is just an embarrasing idiot.

Personally I have no fears at all we are going down...I have this feeling Grey & Deeney will start firing them in big time & by the end of the season we will have one of the most revered strike forces in the league....now where's my spliff gone.

Aren't Allan Smart & Nick Wright available?

Today was woeful. Shocking performance. Southampton are not a good side, to play 5 at the back at home is a sign how fragile they are.
It would seem unfair to single out certain players and most on here have hit the nail on the head.
Watson is completely out of his depth. He tries hard, but is piss poor.
Holebas just seems like he does not care. Does he realise that you actually need to mark a player in football? Silva did not want him to have a new contract, you can see why.
Capoue is finished at Watford. Great skills, but so lazy it hurts.
Richarlison is just fed up and thinking of his next move. He is young so you can't blame him really.
Gray does not have the intelligence to be a Premier League striker. His movement is non existent.
Janmaat is hopeless at full back. He look so tired and slow. Taken to the cleaners today.
Mariappa tries hard, that is all.
I cannot be bothered to mention anymore players right now.
As for the abuse of the players. Some of it was funny to hear. Most of it was sheer frustration from the fans. I don' t think that is was the 'day trippers' as one 'real fan' put it. Everyone has a right to a ticket. Those who think they are members of the 'Elite' fan group are slightly delusional.
Relegation looks almost certain on the showing today. Unless we can shut up shop at the back and go for a draw. Safety looks unlikely.
The season is crumbling apart and that is a real shame after such anticipation in August.
Who would have thought it would come to this?
The is always hope, but the only thing worse than hope is wishing for hope.

That was absolutely terrible. Shockingly bad.

I saw the fan altercation with players from mid way up the stand and I’m not sure it was terribly bad. Maybe it could have escalated but Kabasele and Holebas did not seem overtly aggressive. If anything I thought Kabasele was showing he cared and didn’t want to hide.

There was some scuffling between Watford fans on the way out too. Not sure what that was about.

I think these theories to explain our woeful decline are red herrings:

    1. Poor recruitment: we’ve recruited some gems in Richarlison, Chalobah, Hughes and Femenia. Ok Gray not good but not everything works out. The Jan window activity is not good but we don’t really know what’s been going on behind the scenes.

    2. Injuries: yes lots of injuries but the only nailed on injured starters were Chalobah and Femenia. There should be enough quality left in the squad to do better than of late.

    3. 4 4 2: A formation change is not going to save us and we were awesome with up front at the start of the season.

    4. Okaka is not the answer anymore than Gray or Deeney are in their current form

I think there’s something more fundamentally wrong but haven’t got a clue what or how it should be fixed other than a new striker, cb and lb.

We should stay up if Gracia turns out to be as good an appointment as many on here were convinced he was on Sunday.

We should stay up if Gino continues to run the club in the way he’s generally run it since taking over, namely bravely and decisively.

We should stay up if between now and midnight on the 31st our Recruitment Team bring in new signings of the character and calibre of Chalobah, Cleverley and Hughes, and maybe an unknown diamond like Richarlison. An experienced striker who can quickly score goals wouldn’t go amiss either.

We should stay up if our injured players return over the coming weeks and can quickly find their early season form before they were sidelined.

But we might not stay up if everybody isn’t pulling in the same direction over the coming weeks. Officials. Players. Supporters. There are some people you’d like in the trenches with you during a crisis, and some you definitely wouldn’t. We need more of the first and less of the latter.

There’s over a third of the season left. The first third of the season went well and showed what we can do. But that third was just that, a mere third, not a guarantee of the remainder of the season going the same. And it didn’t. Things turned, and therefore logically they could turn again, back in our favour this time. Hard to visualise right now I admit, but equally so was this mess back in October when we were riding high. We won’t stay up by panicking. The coming days need calm heads, people remembering what they were doing back when we were actually doing well. It worked then. Gracia will bring a fresh pair of eyes too. Keep the faith.

One of the biggest problems we have is that fans have stopped believing. Watford are a tolerant bunch, but enough is enough.

The bottom line is, we know we're not a natural Premier league side, so we are probably punching above our weight, but that doesn't mean fans will tolerate less than 100%. That's the very least you can expect. A player who wears the shirt has to put in a committed performance. If that's not good enough, then so be it and fans will accept that.

What they won't accept is a sustained run of disinterested performances. The line has now been crossed and it's going to take a monumental effort from everyone to turn this around, and I just don't see there's enough heart to do this.

We've fallen in that middle ground. We don't have the scrappers and battlers that get you out of the Championship, nor do we have those quality Premier league players that will steer you away from a relegation fight.

The players we have are ok, but how many would you have in the trenches? For example, Holebas shows passion in all the wrong areas. He just wants to fight the world but that stops once he enters the football pitch, which is the only place that interests me.

There is not enough pressure on these players forcing them to play well. They are paid well but that's not enough motivation. They have to go out there wanting to achieve something. Too many have the notion of "I'll only try hard if the others do". If they all go out there with that attitude, then no one sparks the side.

We need a couple of bullies on the pitch who will demand a performance. We're far too nice, comfortable and defeat does not hurt them enough. This is why fans are now getting angry.

This is the biggest test the club have had since the Pozzo's took over. It's over to the hierarchy. They have the power to make the important decisions. They have to get these right, or they will have to live with the consequences.

Just back now. Christ, where to start?

We continue like this, we go down, simple. That was just as much as a worst first half than against Huddersfield with Silva. Second half we were a lot better but still off the pace against a bad Southampton side.

I wasn't too far away from the fracas at the end. Kabasele came over genuinely offering his support etc but Holebas was a whole different deal and only seemed to further add fuel to the fire. Normally the happy clappers are clapping the team off after a shocking performance but even today there wasn't much clapping at all.

Stoke on Wednesday is our cup final, if we lose there we're well and truly in a relegation fight and less equipped than previous years, whether the happy clappers want to admit it or not.

Some of our fans are utter ****s. That word will be blanked out so use your imagination to fill it in. Im sure it will fit.

Nothing wrong with the effort today. The players tried. But, they are so so so low on confidence right now. Everytime someone got the ball they got rid of it instantly, nobody was confident to put their foot on the ball.

So, what do some of our fans do? Abuse our players at the end of the game. Dont get me wrong the majority didnt, but those who did I have one message:

HOW THE **** IS THAT GOING TO HELP?

Oh, and do people forget what Watson has done for this club? Because some of the abuse he has gotten is not deserving of someone who has been an excellent servant to our club.

More pissed off at some of our fans than the performance today. Give Gracia time, get behind the team, and then at least we can say we did our bit.

The 'fans' near me constantly abused half the team. They also talked about how they wished we were back in the championship without so many foreigners. Without any hint of irony they then abused Watson and Gray, and booed Sinclair after his terrible shot.
