He needs game time - if not playing him would have preferred him out on loan and where we have less depth e.g. Wing kept amrabat

That's the best side that we could put out today.

Shame that Pereyra is still out. Hopefully he will be back next week for Man City.

Prodl's injury was obviously more serious than a knock as first thought.

I do feel for Okaka and Hughes. I just don't get the persistence of having Capoue and Watson on the bench. If we need a goal when Southampton shut up shop, having Hughes come on to try and unlock their defence is a better option than having Watson on the bench.

I do wonder if it's a fitness issue with Okaka, pure speculation, but maybe Silva wants him to shed a few pounds and be able to last the full 90 before bringing him back. Maybe Silva is frustrated that if he plays him, he knows it's going to be sub he already has to make. A fully fit Deeney has more to offer coming off the bench as an option.

Looking at their back 4 though, I don't think it is much better than ours, if at all, so we might get some joy today.

Another great result and a good away performance.

Slightly marred by further injury woes. When will this stop? We really can't have 1-2 subs per game defined by injuries or red cards.

Chalobah, Doucoure and Richarlison are top notch.

Hope we can put out 11 players vs. City next week. We should give them a game if we've got actual defenders available.

Very comfortable win - defence hardly troubled.

Dominated in midfield and 2 very well taken goals.

    Bring on the City!

Fantastic result and an even better performance

Chalobah and Doucoure in the middle were incredible again and played a huge part in our near total domination of that game

Looked like there might be a little wobble with the injuries (especially as Kaboul was unusually brilliant) but Janmaat's goal was a massive to take the sting out of them and secure the result

Special mention for Carrillo, who has barely played for the last year and played two games all the way in Peru last week. To come back and play 90 minutes today, totally disciplined and contributing up and down the right flank was superb and speaks volumes about his mentality

But for Britos' madness we would probably be top of the PL right now and even so we got another clean sheet today to remain unbeaten. Really, really pleased with how Silva has started

Excellent result, it's about time we beat Southampton, they were very poor though but that's their problem not ours. Hope the injuries in defence aren't all that serious.

Great stuff. Gives us a free hit against City next week. Delighted.

Completely different team to last year.

Unbeaten, two away wins, three clean sheets, fourth in the league and a midfield pairing that's got to be up there as one of the best in the league. Heady times to be a hornets fan.

I'd say they're right if they're serious about maintaining their top half run of league finishes.

Holebas needs help!! Good player but totally uncontrollable behaviour. Under a stricter referee he would have been off. The annoying thing is that many of hos fouls are niggly and totally unnecessary

Fantastic positive away performance. Limited Saints to virtually nothing and looked deadly going forward. The footballing quality of Chalobah, Doucoure and Cleverly in the middle is a major driver of how much better our football is this season so far. Richarlison comes from the school of superstar Pozzo buys - he will be gone next summer for stupid money if he keeps this up. Great full debut for Carillo.

I thought Gray once again worked extremely hard, and for a couple of better final balls would have got off the mark today. His work ethic alone pushes us hard up the pitch, and there is value on that even if he is not yet notching.

    Great start for Marco Silva.

Chalobah and Doucoure are absolutely brilliant. Easily one of the best midfield partnerships in the league. Ricky Charles and Carrillo absolutely scare the s**t out of the opposition every time they get the ball and with Bobby P to come back and things likely to click for Gray any game now you get the impression that we can and will get even better.

It's scary how much we have improved as a team in every area in the space of four months.

Doucoure is already on a couple of goals for the season, when we inevitably (have to) sell him the mind boggles regarding how much it will be for.

Good to see Carrillo in the celebrations for both goals. Endeared himself to the team really well so far. Cracking performance and they are making it easy for Gomes at the minute to stay fresh

It'll be interesting to see how MOTD manage to make it look like we were under the cosh the whole game except for two speculative efforts that dribbled in against the run of play.

How good was Kabasele today? I thought he was absolutely quality at the back. Kaboul too until he went off, and Mapps filled in well as his replacement.

Kabasele looks like a completely different player.

These three here have got to be our best signings in the last 5 or so years, Actually insane how talented they are. Suprising that they hadn't been picked up earlier or something.
Our team has a real balance to it now, We have got good stability under Silva.

Happy days, that's the 100% record of me being in Sorrento maintained (was here when we beat Liverpool 1-0 in 99). So all there is left for me to do this evening is head into town for dinner and to drink my body weight of beer and wine to celebrate the win and our continued Champions League push. Ciao

He should have, at least twice. The ref did speak to him once and had the lino speak to him another time.

Considering the other results today I think that we will be last. I don't really have an issue with that but that means we'll get about 5 minutes.

Days like this feel good. Good solid win and another clean sheet. We had a couple of injuries to what was already a makeshift defence at a dangerous time but kept it together (and one of the subs even scored to put the game to bed). Fantastic.
