Think we'll probably see around 10k through the early bird renewals (think it was 12k last year?)

I look forward to my annual call from the club about being top of the waiting list again. Think I'll give it a miss though, I've seen how thoroughly miserable and bitter some of you lot are.

    'ORNETS!

Very true there's been plenty of dark times. I started going before I even knew what was going on. But it's memories of sitting with my Dad and Grandad that brings me as much joy as the great GT days. We were fortunate to experience those quite unbelievable times. Owners, managers and players come and go but I can't leave this club alone. Don't visit as much as I'd like to anymore due to location but seeing my Son becoming more and more addicted is quite a thing. Hey at least it will be easier for me to get tickets if renewals are down.

Lot cheaper to buy a season ticket than going to the Theatre 23 times a year. It costs more to go to RHS Wisley vegetable garden at £18.50 for an adult. The season ticket pricing in today’s world is pretty competitive.

football also has a high emotional buy in to the product. Once you make the decision to buy, it is unlikely you will give up.

We've won 25 league games at home in the last four seasons where fans have been able to attend.

We had the ninth most expensive season tickets this season in the division and the third worst home record. Fortress Vic!

As ever the Watford fans are a collective disappointment. We need the self discipline to hit this despot in the pocket where it hurts.

Unfortunately for many their Saturday routine is too important to sacrifice for the greater good.

    Poor.

Exactly. From a commercial point of view the club almost couldn’t do anything other than freeze prices, the product / entertainment levels having been so dire for so long. Just over 6 home wins a season on average over 4 years is appalling.

That means you have to go to the theatre though.

Also, (like a season ticket for Watford which is the comparison here) you can can get unlimited access to that vegetable garden for £55 per year.

Nobody is disputing it’s not good value vs the one off cost of something, including a one off Watford game, but that’s a false equivalence.

I've renewed as I have always done .
We are Watford fans just like Plymouth or Charlton or Doncaster .
We are not the elite we have to tolerate an awful lot of averageness in order
to experience a high but this is what separates us from Manure\Arse\Citeh etc
and that is a genuine love for the club regardless of who is at the wheel .

I think most fans realise that their non attendance won't make a blind bit of difference to who owns the club. Unfortunately owners are quite often not liked and there is nothing to say the next owners of Watford FC will be liked. I and and many others enjoy going to football, seeing mates, having a pint or two, getting annoyed by the football, getting excited by the football (not much at the moment I admit!) celebrating goals, abusing the ref or the opposition fans. None of that has anything to do with the owner. I've said it before that I believe we need a change even if it's just with Gino gone, hopefully Bayat will never be seen again either, but it won't make any difference in my attendance.

If quality of the owner is the most important factor, surely it would have more appropriate to boycott under Petchey and Baz who both bled the club dry but didn't bring us 6 years of premier league football ?
We're all different and entitled to hold different views but I personally don't consider the quality of the owner when deciding whether or not to support the team and I wouldn't stop supporting just to deny an owner I didn't like the price of a match ticket or season ticket, or enjoy seeing a defeat due to the angst it would cause the owner.

As I said. Your Saturday routine is too important to give up. It’s your (and thousands of others) prerogative. Personally I’m never going to give Pozzo another penny of revenue.

My observation is that 90%+ of fans take the same view as yourself and that shocks me.

I don't find it that shocking to be honest. Life is too short to give up something you enjoy to spite somebody else especially when that person won't give a sh1t. I admire the fact you stick to your guns though

The veg garden season ticket is good value at £55 - surprised they don’t have a forum where people can complain about the investment in the garden, the planting schemes, the failure to promote home grown veg, or the rapid turnaround of head gardeners.

I think it’s meant to say that there at just over 13,000 season ticket holders. 12,000 have already renewed (90%). That means there are about 1,000 more sales required to hit last years total number of season ticket sales. But that’s just my take on it. Renewals always seem high. Which suggests people think the pricing is about right.

I got my first season ticket in 1976. I think attendances were about 5,000. So probably less than 3,000 season ticket holders. I remember GT was surprised how quickly attendances dropped in our second season in the top division. However I think there have been many changes in football and the demographic of the people who attend. Plus probably overall attendances are up on fifty years ago. I would guess that the last ten years have seen the highest average home attendances. That might be for a number of factors. I doubt attending the game can be seen as a direct statement of support or contentment with the owner.

    Greater good, in your opinion.
For me, no. Why sacrifice something you enjoy on a principle. One that in my opinion is a misplaced principle.

The direct debit payment scheme has a big say in it I think. As I said at the outset of the thread I'd probably renew anyway but the fact they take away that active 'do I or don't I?' decision point by letting it roll over automatically is actually quite smart. Interest free, easy to forget about and with the price freeze keeping it affordable too they're really giving themselves a leg up.

When I worked at a club we had some research that basically says 94% (I think!) will always just renew no matter what's going on or how unhappy the fans were. People are creatures of habit & to be honest it's very good value for money when you compare it to how much other things cost these days.

I'm not renewing for next season, the first in 14 years I won't have a season ticket.

I'm actually surprised at the people saying 'why give up something you enjoy to spite others?'... Not because I disagree, but because I'm shocked they still enjoy it! For me, going to football used to be an exciting, entertaining experience - sure, not every day but more often than not. The past few seasons, however, have been a chore and I've left most games wondering why I went.

Honestly, I'm surprised how relieved I feel to have that weight lifted. My priorities have changed, and now it means I get a bit more of my weekend back.

I don't think I'll miss it. Which is something I thought I'd never say.

Good luck to those renewing, but I won't be joining you.
