The club normally announce these late in March and I thought i would start a thread now as not only will our form over the next few games and indeed over the season so far have an influence on renewals there is a TV factor which is maybe not well known.

The new TV deal brings for next season 5 championship games every week. This is aside from the PL coverage.

    In summary

    328 Sky Bet Championship matches
248 Sky Bet League One matches
248 Sky Bet League Two matches
    All 15 Play-Off matches
    All 93 Carabao Cup matches
    All 127 EFL Trophy matches

So each League weekend will see 10 live EFL fixtures shown.

I think we had 12,000 renewals last season (90% take up from 22/23) but judging by the crowds, not quoted attendances, seen particularly of late, this might be a challenge for 24/25.

NB-what division we are in will also be a factor so Scott D will have some stategic thinking to do over the next few weeks but hey on £1m pa that is what he is paid for.

We will be lucky to attract 10,000 renewals on the basis of the rubbish served up by VI

The benefit of not being very good is not being selected for TV. TV coverage and messed about kick off times is killing attendance at games.

That is a fair point. If the unlikely did happen and we got relegated it would be interesting to see if that caused an uptick in ST sales. Ironically, fans' might want to attend to see if the current crop of players had the cojones to go straight back up and really put an effort in again on the pitch in a division which is perhaps a step down in quality but can be equally as competitive.

One of the many benefits I'd say. Don't forget easier to park on match days, less traffic will mean shorter journey time to the stadium and fewer fans will mean pre and post match pubs won't be uncomfortably crowded. Hopefully the spotty morons that can make away games such a bore will bugger off and support spurs too. The more you think about it the more our decline is the best possible thing that can happen

People often say " if we go down we might see more win's etc" the reality is that going down never is the answer, you are always better off being in a higher division with the money, prestige and sponsorship etc that that brings!

True, and I have absolutely no doubt that if we did drop this season or next, we would still be under the rule of Gino's iron fist. Having gone through five or six coaches in a desperate bid to stay in the Championship no doubt. I joke, but it's not an impossible reality especially when compared to us.

There's going to be five live Championship matches every weekend – a staggering increase of televised fixtures.

Across the entire EFL (Championship, L1 & L2) 1059 out of games will be broadcast live – that's 56% of games.

Every Carabao Cup match will be live. Extraordinary.

Even if we're rubbish, we'll be on more often than not simply because of the opposition, if not ourselves.

It's hard not to imagine this will eventually have an impact on attendances at a lot of clubs.

Time will tell, but if most games move from 3pm on Saturday I will probably stop going. 3pm Saturday and some Tuesday or Wednesday evenings are when football should be so you can plan to attend games. I will be renewing for next season and see what happens.

I mean, seriously, how bad does it have to get to stop going?

every season for the last 4/5 years I’ve told my mate that’s it and then I’ve still ended up renewing. It’s just about cheap enough for me to ask the question what else would I do on a Saturday and just about expensive enough to question the value for money

That’s a very good point. One or the up sides of the championship is that relatively few games get moved but with 5 live games across the weekend you have to think they’ll be Friday night, Saturday lunchtime, Saturday evening, Sunday lunchtime and Sunday afternoon?

Having way more matches moved will annoy and deter supporters. And in terms of TV audience, presumably plenty of televised Championship games will clash with the PL. How many neutrals will choose Watford v Birmingham if West Ham v Chelsea is on?

Seems like football is determined to eat itself and non-league gets more appealing by the year.

They seem to like Sunderland on the telly so teams could be travelling and vice versa each week .

It certainly does. And there are plenty of very decent non-league cubs within a 5-10 mile radius of Vicarage Road that people can choose to go to.

People of my generation have had to accept for some time that football is now a TV sport, not one that is experienced live for most. Therefore you have to fall in line with the changed kick-off times if you still want to go to games. I have had a season ticket for decades - since the first GT era - but it’s likely that I will pick and choose games to attend in future and watch others on TV when that suits.

I think other factors also dictate your likelihood to renew.
I can walk to Vicarage in half an hour.
My brother and friends go too, so we get to catch up.
It’s become a habit after decades.
I can afford the cost of the ticket
I don’t have a TV sports subscription, so can justify the time spent going to matches compared to sat in front of a TV.
I look particularly fetching in my yellow replica shirt.

I'll probably renew as I pay full price, but the wife gets it about half price as a second adult and the kids are £45 each.

Would probably be about £70 a match for all 4 of use, so effectively 10 games and the rest are free.

What I pay is not even one day of Ngakia's wages.

If they have any sense the cost of the match day tickets will come down greatly.

Particularly with so many games potentially being moved around.

The club pitching this as some kind of good deed is quite humorous given the dross we’ve been served up over the last few years. They should be paying us.

Good to see the family stand pricing is still very accessible (for England in 2023 that is).

I'm actually tempted to buy on this basis for the first time ever.

I'd probably jack it in but it's the one thing I actually do with my dad with any regularity. So as long as he's still up for going I'll keep the ST, even though it means a nearly 2hr drive some Saturdays to get through the latest round of pointless M1 roadwork.

If nothing else our joint loathing of the style of play and general ineptitude of our players brings us closer together. And isn't that the true spirit of football?

Happy to renew, football is not great but how many seasons of the 44 I've seen have been great? I would like to see a change of owner but as that doesn't look likely in the near future so be it.
