Repetitive forum jokes

Opportunity to vote anonymously on the seemingly burning forum issue of the moment in the lead up to the world cup and the new season.

 

Don't really care for 'em to be honest. Half of them I don't understand and the other half may occassionally have me chuckle to my self... Briefly... For about 1 second

It's only when 3 pages consisting of these jokes take up threads about footballer signing rumours (i.e Deulofeu) is when it gets tedious and repetitive because it means I miss out on very, very reliable news/sources posted by ITK individuals.

 

Only reason I come here if I'm to be honest.

 

Why isn't there a Mart Poom option in the vote?

 

My don't care vote is a vote for people to be able to post what they bleedin well like provide it is not offensive.

Not a vote to get rid of the silly jokes.

Sometimes it annoys me. Other times it doesn't. The current spate is one of the latter.

There's no football anywhere at the moment, no one is missing anything.

I started the cheese thread out of pure boredom at the 12 odd pages of faff. My son told me a joke and it made me laugh. I put it on the thread as I was just being silly. I apologise if I added to it too much. I apologise if it offended people.

I will now retire TCT and not darken the sacred forums anymore.

I hope your joking about retiring It’s not about you or your cheese jokes, I actually quite like cheese jokes.

I voted dislike, not because I am offended by cheese jokes but because there is a general element of repetitive posting of jokes that sometimes makes it difficult to find posts I might be interested in. At what point does it make the forum unusable? Some people clearly think that point has been reached. These jokes are generally posted by a small group of people who are often quite well established forum members and sometimes hard to challenge. I could of course ignore these posters but I actually like many of them and find some of their posts great.

I’m not the Joke Police and there’s no clear line about when it strays into irritation but in my opinion it has and I personally find it gutting that Reid’s and others have left.

 

Well, given that half of those who voted dislike the jokes that have been doing the rounds on here recently, can we not just pack it in now?

Really don't care to be honest, it's just a football forum at the end of the day - I've seen other Premier League forums and they take themselves very seriously, would be sad to see this forum go down that route.

Biggest forum destroyer for me is that interesting discussions get hijacked by the same old forum users arguing for pages on end about something mundane, or forum posters bringing over brexit related arguments from the Politics section into the main section.

 

I’d agree with that except that some of the total non-entities we are regularly linked with are so far-fetched that making jokes about their names, or hairstyle, or YouTube vid, is about the only thing worth saying.

At least you got sensible, no-nonsense transfer rumours in the Championship. Transfers that actually seemed plausible.

Some people on here are funny, some are not. If you cut it all out the place would be awful.

Solution? Stop the unfunny people posting their so called funny stuff. We all know who they are.

 

After reading a few things on here, its definitely made me realise that I can sometimes get dragged into a debate about something I feel strongly about. Whilst I enjoy it, on reflection I can see how a whole page of me and A N Other going back and forth could be annoying and feel like a hijacking of a thread. I will do my best to rein it in from now on in.

But it is always based upon thoughts and opinions. I like to dip into the 'in' jokes now and then and hope no one has ever felt I've personally attacked them or contributed anything that makes them no longer want to contribute. I apologise if I have unknowingly done so.

This forum can be a place where everyone gets what they want from it. I think some may just have to be more tolerant of the bits they don't like and ignore them, thats all.
