You Tube videos need to be scrutinised carefully, but this guy looks something special. Markovic and Grosicki videos left me fairly cold. Markovic to me has no end product and Grosecki too expensive. Ghezzal has a wonderful left foot and is a quick dribbler. He comes with some baggage and attitude, but most of these wingers do (think Niang and Bergy). Confident Silva will be able to handle him. A progressive signing on a par with our business to date. I will get very excited if we get this one over the line. COYHS

I followed the links and it doesn't lead to anyone with any kind of status. Belotti is usually decent but saying we've got an agreed deal is totally duff and purely speculative by an unknown person. I double checked on Calcio and there's nothing about us having an agreement in place. There was a Calcio hashtag so I figured it was from them. But nothing confirmed from Calcio.

This is the report suggesting that we are in negotiations with him.

Thanks, yeh cannot find anything on Calcio about a done deal, but as you say Belotti pretty good so maybe something in this.

 

I'd love to see Ghezzal join Watford, he looks like a right gem. However...... I would hate to see the back of Berghuis. I'd prefer it if it were the end of Amrabat's reign. On top of that, ******* off those Feyenoord fans would make the transfer window a whole lot more fun!

 

I have to say out of all the YouTube videos I've watched on Watford rumoured players since Pozzo era , and there's been a lot , this is one of the best .

Usually they are full of some bloke beating 3 men in his own half before getting fouled or goals scored from penalties.

Ghezzals is full of quality goals , quality assists, key passes and genuine game changing plays.

This one has my seal of approval, get it done Gino .

I think it is more about Feyenoord stumping up the money. There has been alot of noise coming out of Holland but nothing suggests they have made a realistic offer. The Pozzos are probably pretty annoyed because it is further upsetting our player. They will not want to lose money on Bergy. For a former famous European to plead poverty is ridiculous. Berghuis will stay if no concrete offer is made. Don't think Silva would reject him outright. COYHS

 

I don't think the club is in the business of letting go players we actually want. Name another since Hogg. Maybe you can, but there won't be many.

Looks to have better pace, skill, goalscoring ability and (especially) vision than Amrabat. Other than that, I can't tell much difference between them.

In terms of this guy wanting extra cash because he s not on a contract, it makes sense to pay him the 70k a week he's asking .

Let's say that's 30k a week more than if he wasn't on a free, and we sell him after 2 years for 10-20 mill etc then we ve only spent 3mill extra on his inflated wages but selling him for maybe 10 times that if he turns out good .

 

Exactly. It's not as if any of these guys will see out their contracts anway as they'll either be sold on or renegotiate with a year or 2 left.

 

Only problem is we know Troy has a clause to get whatever the highest wage earner is on , it is possible others may have that clause as well ,if so it becomes expensive to break the wage structure in place.
That said I believe we will have to break our current structure if we wish to remain competitive at this level with the crazy prices in this window already inflating costs further .
