It's not even as good as the Championship, Cucho also banged in the goals in the Segunda, but it definitely hasn't been all plain sailing for him in the top flight

 

True I get your point, however, I doubt these young South American stars cost the club much money and if they are sold then we make a big profit which does benefit the club.

 

Surely we get some loan fees too which would be handy (albeit not massive)

 

I think he will come to us, but at the same time agree you're right about him staying in Spain if he could.
Lukebakio was a different situation, I think he felt totally underappreciated/used here. Then when he was shipped out on loan all really quickly (wasn't it to the team he'd just scored against 15 minutes earlier in a friendly?) he performs really well in a challenging league and suddenly felt in demand and there was no way of us keeping him.
Suarez to me is different - as there's probably a number of factors behind this, including the chance to play Barca, Real Madrid etc. But it's also worth noting that in the main, the English Championship really isn't covered as much as the Premier League worldwide and as such to the uninformed us dropping into the Championship is seen as a massive step down (larger than it is in all reality). I'd actually suggest this is kind of echoed across most of Europe whereby their second tiers are normally very poor so there is a natural assumption it's just the same here.
So assume the above message is getting put in his ear, and then add in the change in language and environment as a hurdle/consideration - particularly if he sees that the majority of our Spanish speaking contingent are heading out the door - you can't blame the guy for being a bit unsure!

In terms of the Atletico thing I work alongside a Spanish guy (who agrees that the Championship is certainly a step up in a footballing competitive sense from the Spanish Second Division - and likely the majority of their Primera League), and he says that MundoDeportivo are a bit flaky in their reporting and to take it with a pinch of salt!

 

£15m sounds like £50m when spoken. Probably all it is.

 

Suarez was not so successful for Zaragoza after the restart in Spain. I seem to remember reading that Suarez changed agents during the past season and I wonder whether the agent has been touting Suarez around. Hence the links with clubs such as Lazio and Atletico Madrid.

The second link (Sport Witness) basically summarizes the article in Mundo Deportivo, although it misses out some information.

 

Couple of Latin American Sports outlets reporting on him. Both saying he will be with us for pre-season. The difference is, one outlet states he is training with us now. The other one is saying he will be in the UK next week, supposedly Monday.

Bottom line, no-one knows anything.

In fairness we treated Lukebakio dreadfully. By all accounts we sold him on the promise of premier league game time, and then he had to come and sit on the bench and watch Carrillo walk up and down the pitch. We played a loan player who didn't want to be there (and didn't really even pretend he wanted to) over him. He was then farmed out on loan at the first available opportunity.

I'm sure he isn't exactly buzzing about the idea of it, but if he starts the season playing regularly and scores a couple of goals, I am sure that will change.

LASK got a heavy points deduction in the Austrian league, if the FA or the EFL have any spine they'll do the same to the carrot munchers!

 

Wouldn't this be the same for Suarez as well? He seemed to be in The Grove gym in the picture that the 1881 lads posted earlier.
