Interestingly, Deeney was interviewed before the game saying how ******* amazing Liverpool’s attacking three are. Why do that? Defeated before a ball was kicked. Why is Deeney allowed to speak to the media, he’s a ******* idiot?
That's because they all think they are safe and can't be arsed. We were the same for the previous two seasons, so why should this one be any different? There are a few players from this team that I can't wait to see the back of. There are still 7 games to play and we still need points. Remember last season? I predicted we'd lose the final six games and got slaughtered for it. Well it happened, we did lose the last six. Now I don't think that will happen this time, but if we play any of the remaining games with the same attitude as today, then we will lose them. No surprise most of our problems stem from the left side. Today Gracia has to take a lot of blame. He saw what was happening but did nothing about it at half time. I was really surprised by that. Holebas, Britos, Prodl, Capoue, Janmaat. Every week it's the same players that let us down. They are not even good enough as back up. I'm sick if watching this. Every season I see the same basic mistakes these guys make. They will never improve. We are seeing Karnezis conceding some soft goals now. He made some good saves, but Arsenal's third last week, and the final two today were poor from him. The only player who can have any credit today, was Hughes who gave a performance showing he wanted to out there playing for the shirt. Pereyra also had a positive contribution, but the rest looked like the would prefer to be in their comfy hotel room.
What a bunch of miseries gits most of you are! We knew we were probably going to get thumped and we did. Yet all this vitriol, yet again, about our poor defence? Yes, we know. We've known that for the last two seasons, we can't afford any better. No need to keep going on & on & on & on & on & on & on about it as if it's a surprise every week. We are not entitled. We are still little Watford and despite our crap defence and forward line, we are probably going to survive for a fourth consecutive season in the best league in the world. That's something few of us would have predicted. Perspective required.
Think your being harsh on Prodl, he's a better player than were seeing at the moment (certainly better than the other cb's at the club) and both Mariappa & Britos were far more culpable than him tonight. Agree completely about Gracia and the players attitudes though
We were set up so poorly today and Gracia should take the blame for that. An immobile striker up against two centre backs, two central midfielders against their three, going three v three against their front line with two incredibly slow centre backs. The wing backs were far too far forward. The only place on the pitch we theoretically should've had a numerical advantage was down the wings but we didn't have any of the ball to attack them with.
I think we have a right to moan after that. Getting thumped by a better side while showing some fight, desire, pride, organisation and a certain level of competitiveness is one thing. Getting thumped by a team that doesnt need to get out of first gear while showing the same poor attitude, making the same mistakes in yet another going through the motions woeful performance that we wont take any lessons from is another.
Just going to pretend that today was a behind the doors friendly and that it's part of the 3 week international break
Deeney hasn’t now scored on his 1th, 101th, 201th, 301th or 302th game for us. •Some of this may or may not be true
I had to look to double check - that's the 6th away game on the trot where we've not managed to score. Leicester, Southampton (FA Cup), Stoke, West Ham, Arsenal and now Liverpool. What a joke.
In 1881, Liverpool FC didn’t even have a team for Salad to play in. They’re apparently the dirty offspring of the other scouse terds
Look on the bright side. Apart from Stoke, the fans from those sides went home happy after playing us. That must bring great comfort knowing our side gives so much pleasure to others.
There is, it’s a fictional dog that sometimes appears real that make sounds like a musical synthesiser. Weird. Edit: And Kelso of course
Hold on. ITKjim says 2 up top is Suicide? Unless of course we are thinking he is a ****. If that is the case I would agree.
Glad I went to that. Best result from that was the section in the middle just before the tourists in our away end had a sit down. All had a lovely sing song, good job.
The goals were well taken but I think we could have avoided at least 4 of them for various reasons which we won't improve with the current crop of defenders who are either too slow or lack concentration... Anyone who attacks us must have a field day in terms of creating chances !
How I sat through that I’ll never know. 5-0 was about deserved as they tore us to bits and proved a bit like Tottenham, if you have one man who can finish you win games. He had five shots at goal and scored four of them. Gray would have ten shots and score none of them. That’s not the only difference of course but they are a class apart and we were never going to get anything from the minute number four. What can I say in defence? Not a lot. Defence was awful but hey we all know that, our Greek god had a horror show but did save a few. Our away form is truly truly awful. We still have to go to Man Utd and Spurs. That makes me feel sick. We had absolutely no game plan but to attempt to stifle their attack which we failed at. Our attack was non existent and Gracia looked defeated stood on the touch line. He reminded me a bit of Silva but let’s hope that isn’t a bad omen. Deeney has his usual game by doing nothing and getting sniffed out as one up front at Anfield is never going to work, especially if our threat is waving arms and eating Mc Donald’s happy meals. Peyera had a good game and probably had our best chance of a goal. Hughes did well and worked hard for a lost cause so credit to him. Jammant was awful again and it really was the Mo Sala show. Credit to Liverpool they have a super player and one we could dream of having one day. I just wonder how much of those goals would of gone in if he was injured? Time to move on. Big games after the two week break which I hope Gracia uses to drill home the mistakes and we get a much better performance against Bournemouth. We still aren’t safe mathematically and need maybe 4 more points. Our goal difference took a battering today. If we are going to get anything from our last games we need to play with a much better attitude than today. Very very poor, despite the opposition.
When we were having the pre match warm up, we practised crosses and volleys. Nobody scored. Against no defenders. Most skied it over the bar. Or miskicked. As Deeney and Richarlison hid away behind Liverpool defenders during the match, seemingly immune to running and making space, the players like Femenia had nobody to play in. So we played back or lost possession to the "press". Hopeless. Okaka and Gray at least move about.
I thought that we did ok. Aside from leaving Salah free run for most of the match and the 5 goals. Someone commented that we did poorly because Liverpool scored from 4 of the 5 shots they had in first 60 minutes. Well I'd say that clarifies we did keep them reasonably out of our box, but that they were clinical.
Liverpool are one of the best sides in the world, no shame in losing this one. But we're starting to see worrying signs. The same players played every week despite wretched form. Anybody can see Richarlison desperately needs a rest and Capoue is back to his languid, disinterested worst. Even Doucoure looks like a ghost of himself. Our defence is an utter shambles. Britos is dreadful. Prodl and Mariappa are Championship defenders. Deeney is not a lone striker. He just isn't. In the end we were easy pickings for a very good Liverpool side and a player who looks truly exceptional.
Janmaat played 9 minutes and Gray none at all (as always under Garcia) so not sure why they are being given grief!
I know Gray didn’t play I was using him as an example of our lowly strikers against theirs. In hindsight I was very tired and quite angry when I wrote that, I know Liverpool have amazing players and Sala probably costs our team, but I was more upset that we never at least tried to make things difficult.
Exactly what I was about to post after reading that. Plus as I think you said earlier, Gray actually scored in his last 2 starts.
Sometimes as a player, you know the player on the other side of the net/pitch is superior to you in every respect. In addition, you are not playing to your best level and you are making tactical errors to compound the issue. I have had such days.On one such day I donated my prize money to charity as I was so embarrassed by my play. Fortunately for me it wasn't witnessed by a national tv audience and 50,000 people live! I feel for our players but well done to the fans who were,by all accounts, exceptional. Nevertheless I expect a positive reaction in two weeks please.
Well. I also learnt something from yesterday's match. Richarlison gets his beefburgers from a butchers in Radlett. Keep it under your hat.
Is it just me or does the Anfield goal announcer sound really bored? No enthusiasm when they score and really doesn’t want to be there. Thought it was quite humorous and a highlight of the game.
Mariappa, Britos, Capoue, Cholevas, Deeney, Richarlison Ask 90% of wfc fans and none of these players would be starting given an alternative option. We have ground out some results recently but let's not forget that we still have some real dogshit players. Deeney has proven his detractors wrong by doing his job in 2 games now, so his eyes are on a summer of barbecues and bulking up. Rich has been on strike since Silva left The others shouldn't even be in our squad anymore and only are because of failed recruitment. Javi was brought in to grind out the wins to see us safe and he'll do that, but for our team to be good enough to do more than win 1-0 at home against the poor sides in the league, you can't start matches with more than half your eleven being unfit for purpose. Especially if one or two of your half decent players half an understandable off day.
Oddly I am not in such a bad mood as I usually am after a defeat. Mind you the scoreline does irritate me anyway. I guess it is because a defeat was always likely - although something inside me thought we would get a point from one of those two away games. We will see the measure of the team at home to Bournemouth.
