I hate AFC Muff soooo much http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/bournemouth-look-to-hijack-deal-after-watford-open-talks-with-win
Hah Hah Hah! the plucky little pluckers ... as if he would pick them over WHU, Everton or us! And I wonder howe How's Spanish is getting along?
I know it's only based on youtube, but I don't think he looks like someone we're crying out for tbh. He looks more determined than genuinely quick, like a slight upgrade on Abdi rather than the truly flying winger we need (i.e. an upgrade on Anya).
If he signs for Bournemouth over us, it's because we don't want him, not because they have hijacked any deal.
Gianluca Di Marzio @DiMarzio 20m20 minutes ago #Iturbe could join @WatfordFC in january: deal ongoing with @OfficialASRoma @Juan_iturbe93 @SkySport @SkySportsNewsHQ If Di Marzio says it, it's pretty much true isn't it?
Stories everywhere about this now. I would say we are definitely after him & negotiations are in progress.
I'm slightly sceptical about this. Seems a very talented lad but from everything I've read about him, he doesn't appear to have many of the skills QSF looks for. Undoubtedly a great dribbler, but is he going to be disciplined positionally? Look up and pick passes? Press aggressively? I'm not so sure. That's not even to say that he has struggled to settle at two of his three European clubs. When he was in Portugal he couldn't wait to escape back to Argentina on loan. And this is Porto and Rome, two wonderful cities. That would be fine if he was a long term signing, because the club would give him time, but I have very strong doubts that he will settle over a short loan period. He could well be an expensive, Premier League version of Acuna.
Acuna was never heralded as the next Lionel Messi, though. Iturbe's issue is that he moved to large clubs before he was ready, and lost game time as a result. He's clearly got a lot of talent. Whether or not he'll fulfil it remains to be seen, but he's exactly the sort of player the Pozzos would be expected to go for: young, very good potential, and in a bit of a rut due to lack of first team appearances. Arsenal and Liverpool were after him 12 months ago before Roma got him.
I'm actually quite looking forward to it. I've never been caught out by you so far. I do agree though, he is the perfect Pozzo 'rough diamond' signing. Because IF they can iron out his flaws, he'll be outstanding.
Looks and plays like Erik Lamela. Football manager is always a good sign of what a player is like. If your going to rip off the Apple brand those romans need to come up with something better than ibarbo and iturbe
Yep, been on our radar for years http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...ts-interest-hellas-verona-star-iturbe-3985794
Aye. That they have. Part informed guesswork, part a result of conversations with people within the club. http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2015/12/juan-manuel-iturbe-on-the-radar-but-watford-sitting-tight-ahead-of-transfer-window/ No formal talks yet between the clubs (informal ones maybe?)
They have, but WD sports sounds a lot like a media outlet that is making stuff up, with no quotes or facts in their piece.
Well ... not exactly a "raw diamond", as Roma AC payed 31.5M€ to buy him from Verona just in summer 2014. He's maybe rather the "diamond-wrongly-considered-flawed-but-it-was-just-not-the-right-cutter", as we have seen in Capouè-Spurs. Maybe, after 1 disappointing season and another half mostly rotting on the bench, WFC could buy him for as "low" as 10-15M€ as clearly the player wants to try his fortune elsewhere and Roma needs some fresh money to buy reinforcements in January in other key roles (defence mostly). If Pozzo's scouts confirm to the boss that the lad has still potential, being a 22YO attacker he might easily reach again the former high (or even better) transfer value in 1-2 good seasons. Meanwhile being hopefully very very useful on the pitch. The kind of smart deal that the Pozzo's could think, but could not afford to risk, before being backed financially by Premier TV money.
"Hi Gino, Kevin Affleck here. Would you mind giving us an exclusive scoop on your transfer plans this January? We've heard you're after Juan Iturbe?" "Of course Kevin. We're not going to do much business this summer. Is that Di Marzio shouting his mouth off again? Fecking idiot." "That's what I thought. Cheers Gino. Merry Christmas."
Much was guesswork I agree but they do have an in at the club though. I suspect there is some truth in what they say about Italian clubs using the Pozzos to push up prices. I also suspect the Pozzo might actually be quite keen on this guy, even if they've not yet reached the formal negotiations stage. Does QSF want him though? Not much point bringing in another player he doesn't use.
I suspect he might be useful in QSF's 4-2-3-1. I admit I don't know much about the player but from http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/juan-iturbe/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/81455 I see he can play as RW, LW, CF, SS or AM. Sounds good.
They've covered all bases too. He's on the radar, the club are aware of his situation and he has admirers at Watford but there are no formal talks and he might not be the right kind of player. It means that whether he signs or not, they can churn out one of their smug "you-heard-it-here-first" articles. Classic WDSport!
Too bloody right. Where we finish in the league is nowhere as important as just not going down obviously, but it still counts for a hell of a lot. Cash per position as you say is worth millions. Also our status in the transfer market as a successful Prem side, not a struggling one, means we can potentially attract better players in the summer.
Weren't they talking about all our potential signings for weeks, now saying we may be one of the least active clubs. The existence of that site's sources are as dubious as that of the Blue Nile.
