The asking price has dropped to zero now? Jeez, get a grip Gino.

Easy.....just do a swap deal. We get those three and they get Sarr.

Still doesn’t fit in their squad as they are over-subscribed with overseas players even by selling Grujic.

Two years left on his deal and someone wants him on loan?

    Deja-vu.

Slightly positive signs then, £50m is a lot of money for someone who'd only be a short term fix really. Not that I want him to go anywhere, but if he did, I'd rather he went to a club where he'd be valued rather than someone who would find him disposable

Instalments though, how much of that would they be getting up front?

That's irrelevant because we, or anyone else, would receive any large transfer fee in instalments too.

We did tell them that we wanted quite a bit up front, didn't we?

Even should they now have the cash, can’t see Liverpool coming back in for Sarr. They wanted an extra forward and got Jota for £40-45m. They’re not going to spunk that on Sarr too. Who (apart from City) spend £40m+ on a fifth choice forward?

From what I'm reading, Liverpool are 2 players over their overseas limit now - they need to sell 3 before getting another in.

Sheffield Utd have bid for Brewster and Burnley for Wilson - they won't turn down PL moves there to come to us.

Man U just had their attempt to sign Chiesa on loan rejected by Fiorentina.

The fact that they thought Fiorentina would just loan them their best and most important player without any capital to sign a replacement shows how utterly clueless those in charge of transfers at Utd are.

Expect them to try sign Sarr on loan, which we will reject, before offering £90m on deadline day.

I'm sure most selling clubs would ask that, it doesn't mean it would happen though.

If these sales are a means of raising funds for Liverpool to buy Sarr - though as LeedsOrn suggests, having bought Jota do they really need/want Sarr now anyway? - then 3 separate sales would mean 3x initial payments. In a world where everything is black & white, say their 3 sales worth £60m are all divided equally at £20m with initial payments of £8m from each and the remaining £12m spread over 4 years at £3m per annum. That would give Liverpool £24m upfront. There's a nice lump sum for Watford to ask for if the fee for Sarr was £50m.

Liverpool need to sell more than just those 3 you’ve listed though namely 2 other foreign players as well (Shaqiri and Karius?)

I really don’t think them selling the 3 you listed is much to do with Sarr. I think they are just selling surplus players.

Karius is already at Union Berlin on loan.
    https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fi...-karius-completes-loan-switch-to-union-berlin

Another keeper, Kamil Grabara, has also gone out on loan to AGF Aarhus. He may not count towards squad numbers though due to his age.

You're probably right about the sales being nothing more than squad trimming plus budget maintenance after shelling out on Jota. But a big argument towards Liverpool not following through on Sarr was their reticence and possible inability to spend big, and as Jota was bought for very little upfront (supposedly) then I wouldn't be surprised if they came back towards the end of the window to see if a deal could be struck if they are able to raise a good amount through these sales.

Liverpool now have Minamino and Jota to back up their front three who would both be considered ahead of Sarr if he did miraculously go there, even after they've spent all that cash on Diogo and been reported as declaring that their incoming business is already concluded.

That's not to mention other players still currently there like Shaqiri, and the fact that it was also seemingly reliably reported by Liverpool tier 1 journos that they were put off both by Sarr's valuation and our insistence on money upfront.

I'm still shitting a brick every time I see his name mentioned in connection to the Barca/Dortmund/Utd merry go round, but I cannot see in any way how Liverpool are still any kind of player in his immediate future.

Reckon it’s a last minute £50m bid in desperation from Utd (like they did with Martial), or nothing now.

  20. Liverpools issue isn't scoring goals it's defending them. If I were Klopp with cash in my pocket I'd go for a world class CB.

While the domestic window runs for 11 days after the international window closes, Champions League and Europa League squads must be registered for the Group Stages on October 6th, the morning after deadline day. So if United is the destination (and I think it’s clear that Sarr is on but some way down their recruitment list) they would surely want him to come in by then so he can play in the UCL even if they could still bring him in after that deadline. Obviously that wouldn’t feature in Crystal Palace/Aston Villa’s calculus - but I don’t think either can afford him at the moment. Still, a dynamic to think about.

I think Liverpool were only interested in a cut price deal this summer. Their biggest concern was having cover for Mane and Salah during the ANC. Sarr will also be at the ANC. i dont think liverpool's interest in Sarr is over and i think they'll be back in next summer. As Sarr wants liverpool hopefully he'll wait for that offer next year. If he signs for united he's a back up player for a side that has no chance of winning the PL or champions league and theyd never sell him to liverpool.

If he signs for any of the big clubs that are allegedly interested in him, he will be a bench warmer at best, if that. Therefore he would probably be better off sticking with us at least till the end of this season, when we will hopefully be back in the PL anyway.

Staying with us will almost certainly enhance his reputation and hopefully he will be an even better player because he should be playing regularly, rather that sitting inn the stiffs at a big PL club. Furthermore if we do decide to sell him at the end of this season he will almost certainly have gone up in value as well.

Given we won't be back in the prem in most of our lifetimes, his best bet would be to join a big club like AV, who have too much cash to be relegated again, where he'd be a first choice, and could move to a top 4 club in a season or two's time for £75m+ a la Ashley Young. A season in the wilderness of the champ would be a season lost for him out of the headlines.
