If we are going for an out of favour Leicester striker Ianacho possibly has more potential than Slimani

Looking laboured against lower league opposition. Should fit in nicely here.

    Iheanacho would be perfect.

Iheanacho cost £20m and can't even get near the Leicester squad under two separate managers

Tapping in the 6th goal in a 6-0 City win every other month has created possibly the most over inflated reputation of any player in recent years

And we paid £18.5 million for someone that can't even do that.

Slimani drifted to 2/1 now from 1/3 last week to sign for us.

Possibly because Mahrez is off to Liverpool so won’t want to lose them both

Gray obviously not at the 5-0 bit.

He couldn't even score against Fleetwood......so it's a no from me.

I've asked several times yet no one has provided definitive proof that we paid £18.5m for him, except for paper talk, so if you have the proof, I'd be interested in seeing it.

With all add ons it could reach that amount which is probably similar to the iheanacho deal.

And that's the crux, £18.5m gets thrown around when it doesn't appear to be accurate.

True. But then again, maybe Ian Nacho only cost £6m plus lots of add-ons ?

Gray was actually a free transfer, with all the money consisting of add ons linked to goals scored

Burnley actually owe us money so far

My point is if Gray is performing to trigger the add ons, one, we don't have the hate threads, two, the total fee is moot.

He's not hitting his target (in more ways than one), which means he hasn't cost £18.5m - yet.

For example, my OTE is £85k - if I don't hit my targets then I don't earn £85K but I tell everyone I earn £85k.

I do understand - mines £128k but likewise I won't be receiving that this year (as I have done a really **** job this last 12m, partially down to time wasted on this forum, perhaps I should sue ?). I take the point that quoting the maximum possible payment doesn't help the perceptions of the player nor the sense of budget responsibility of Gino et al.

Leicester deluded? They bought him for about that only 18 months ago. How much are we apparently asking for Deeney again.....?

£25m seems to be the going rate for ordinary players these days.

It looks tough for Watford right now. Even with all the riches of the Premier league, we are being priced out of the market.

The only value remains outside of these shores. Once someone becomes an established EPL player he gets a premium on his head, and more so if he's home grown.

Get Slimani on loan or move on.

We need good full backs and energetic midfielder ahead of anything else right now.

Personally I agree. But if Slimani is Silva's way of testing the board's commitment to him the choice not to see it through could see him walk. Or at the least continuing to be very critical in public.

  34. hornetboy1

    hornetboy1 First Team Captain

I think Silva's stock has taken a big hit, so I don't think he's in any position to test the board. He's shown no commitment to the club, so it works both ways.

I'd be surprised he's here longer than this season, and sooner if our dreadful run is not reversed very quickly. Two more bad games/results from Southampton and Stoke and he'll be gone I'm sure.

You keep saying that but they aren't going to sack him. There's no good replacements about and they don't like getting rid of coaches during a season. It was miles worse than this under Mazzarri and he survived! Plus, they're going to be signing players for him this window, what's the point if they're thinking about giving him the chop?
