Struck me as a bizarre signing that, I don't think he's a bad egg or anything (or else he'd have made his way here!), but he's one of those players who burst onto the scene so early that I'm not surprised he's burning out now

Yeah, he's basically been a playing nonentity for several seasons now, and never come close to building on the supposed talent he had (and, indeed, sometimes displayed) as a youngster.

I wonder if in the end he is one of the last holdovers from the time when our youth system was basically built on the boys who were the biggest and strongest the earliest/youngest getting noticed and prospering, resulting in our previous lost generations of technically inferior senior English players.

Just looked up Rodney Green on Wikipedia. He died nearly 5 years ago at the age of 79. I feel old.

Today was a big chance.

They scraped a draw. Basic mathematics indicate they are on to beat the derby record.

I continue to feed on their misery like a hag fish.

 

Yes though they have plenty of other **** sides down there with them. They’re not even bottom and could stay up by finishing above Burnley and SU, who are level with them on one point, and just catching one of Wolves, Bmouth, Everton or NF.
They can still catch Brentford

 

I imagine their fans are green with envy that were are having such fun in the championship while they are beating established premier League sides away and moving out of the relegation zone.
