Anyone else on here feel the need to apologise to Roadend for magichat's post.
Both incident have to be some of the lowest moments I've experienced while watching football. I've be to Anfield quiet a few times as a Watford fan sitting in the Kop watching Tommy score (never met a nicer bunch of fans before or after) and other times just to see Liverpool play. Each time i go with mates who are Liverpool supporters each time we all take time to pay our respects at the memorial and i defy any football loving fan not to be moved by the flowers scarves and shirts that are still hung up there daily.
I'm not sure of Magichats's age but anyone who watched the events happen live on tv must be scared and must have some feeling for the families of those who died. These are fans like us who went to see a game of football and ended up losing thier lives.
    Sorry Roadend

Thanks guys, but theres no need to apologise, as a lifelong red I am ashamed of what happened at Heysel, and deeply affected by events at Hillsboro.
the people who turned up at the stadium in Athens seriously need to take stock of their actions but the point the majority of LFC fans are trying to get across is that there is a COLLECTIVE responsibility for the events.
    1. The fans for their behaviour
    2. The Police and stewards for security.
    3. UEFA for their choice of venue & subsequent ticket allocation
    4. The club. ie LFC in this case for the distribution of those allocated tickets.

But as usual there were problems but the blame just went one way, right to the feet of the fans.
I read a good post yesterday regarding somesort of outside venue with a screen so fans can turn up, savour the atmosphere and watch the match.
It seemed to work well at the world cup, so can't UEFA learn something from that?
At a major final you will always get ticketless fans going over to chance their arm at getting one, especially when it is being held in an historic city like Athens, you just want to be there.

Anyway like someone said earlier, we could go on all day about this so I'll shut up.

    Cheers, everyone.

PS. HJC is the Hillsboro Justice Campaign.

It didn't help that UEFA chose a stadium with no rear wall so people could just climb in (If reports are to be believed)
