One that's rarely mentioned is Rey Manaj. Never given a chance and released for nothing only a year ago. Now he's tearing up the Turkish Superlig for a middling club and has a €10m price tag to his name. We could do with a striker like that...

Joint 2nd top scorer in the league, 19 goals in all competitions. And no, it's not open goal tap-ins.

(sorry, couldn't figure out how to link to YT with time signature)

This is clearly fake news. Rey Manaj's goal-scoring efforts have been manipulated by the Royal Family's Kensington Palace press office in conjunction with their counterparts from the Turkish Super Lig. Manaj has unluckily fallen flat on his a*** each time when shooting as he routinely did for us and hit each one over the bar. You have to hand it to the Turkish boffins, the technology these days is magnificent.

The same bloke that was mocked by fans and when be came back for a bit of pre season training there was a big panic he was returning ?

I know football fans like a reactive u- turn and are fickle but let’s not pretend people were sorry to see him go.

Anyway his main problem was being injured twice long term .

Well yeah, the fact that fans don't recognize talent is fine but I expect our recruitment team and coaches to be slightly better at judging player abilities... The fact is that we let a perfectly good and very valuable striker leave for nothing without giving him a chance, which is just criminal. Especially since the lack of a good striker has been our biggest achilles heel these last seasons.

Maybe you are right and he will become a star but the guy did get a chance and was deemed hopeless or injured.

All easy to say in hindsight that we were wrong to let him go now

I mean look at someone like Craig Dawson too .

Or it shows again we haven’t replaced them well again like with managers.

Obviously there will be fans who make quick judgements on a player after 2/3 games without giving them much time to settle but that is football for you .

Yeah I know, a lot of fans (especially the most vocal ones) can't tell the difference between a good player who's playing poorly and a bad player occasionally doing something good. That's fine, but the coaching staff and recruitment team... I mean, if you let Manaj leave for free and then spend your transfer budget on Rajovic you really should find yourself a different career.

As they say fans think they know best but often don’t !

Presumably he hasn’t had 2 hamstring injuries either which no doubt hampered his spell here .

I think I only saw him play a decent amount of time twice live !

Would be typical to appoint someone who plays even more possession based football relying on ball playing defenders after the criticism towards Ismael but think it’s very much click bait stuff .

It had better be. It would be a really really really dreadful decision. Though I can't imagine too many quality managers queuing up to join given oiur immediate prospects.

We are in an era of fandom now where some fans really do believe they could do a better job. But instead of "X player is rubbish, I could do a better job" it seems to be that some fans think they should genuinely be in charge of running clubs and recruiting players. This is also an era of fandom who demands their clubs org chart because "It is the minimum fans deserve". Some odd folk about.

Manaj obviously had talent but we got him in at the worst possible time. Had he not been injured (twice) he may of turned out alright. Ironically, seeing Raj control a ball is laughable at times. Manaj needed a bit of time to settle in a new environment and as a club we really we're not the right fit. Instead we persisted with a blunt forward line of Davis and an un-interested Sarr.

Not sure who asked for the org chart, but presumably it was at the fans forum. At that time the club has Duxbury and Pozzo as “the stability”. Giaretta and existing scouting network. Ben Manga and his new scouting team. And Mogi Bayat a constant in the directors box. And a new manager with greater powers than the previous ones.

For me, the only strange fan would be the one who was so unquestioning that he wouldn’t want to know what the roles were, given it seems an expensive cast with multiple crossover. And of course a few months later Manga gets tinned because there were too many cooks involved. Yeah what a a weirdo that fan was who wanted to understand why we had so many people - it’s almost like they were right!

The only person left in their position from that forum is Duxbury - almost as if it was a waste of time.

Bachmann of course is still here but not longer captain
