There seems to be a lot of pessimism on here going into this one, which I honestly don't understand. We have been fantastic so far this season and we are playing the team that are currently sitting bottom of the league. Palace's results have been better recently but then again they have mainly just drawn against sides that are not as good as us.
No I dont by that either. I am now really looking forward the three points we will win tomorrow and have been since Saturday evening. You, however, will been dreading the loss of three points. So I have had a great 3 days, you have not. Then, if we win tomoz, I will be just as happy as you as my excitement has been building up for days and will be congratulating myself on my football knowledge, whilst you will be kicking yourself wondering why you didn't listen to me. But, if we lose, you will be totally pissed off until our next win which might be months away, whereas I will only be pissed off until I start getting excited by the three points from the win next Saturday, which will be when I wake up on Wednesday morning - another 4 days of bliss. It's logical, I think. Everyone should try it. I thank you.
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson on Watford: "I will give you three things that are good - their athleticism, their work rate and the quality of their individual players. "We are preparing for the best Watford team we have seen. They have done very well and they are ninth because that is what they have deserved." We deserve to be ninth? What an insult! Still, perhaps we'll be in the seventh place we deserve by Christmas. Or not.
Leonardo Acropolis is a jay knee us! I am a long streak of misery as my brother affectionately calls me and I am possibly "the genius of the lamp Mrs Fawlty" as Orelly man said! Or not. Mr IBB is quite perky and this concerns me as he has been maudlin for the last three months. I too hope the trains buck their ideas up and safe passage to all tomorrow. I shall be disguised as Ethel the Frog or arrive, via The Panama Canal,as Ratty, from 'Toad of Toad Hall.
Would be happy for us to get a point tomorrow. Hopefully Femenia will be back because we have seen Zaha against Janmaat and it’s not pretty.
It’s about time we gave someone a kicking 7:0 to us Has anybody else noticed that our general pattern is First 20 mins play well Next 25 mins start playing worse First 20min of 2nd half play well Next 25 mins depends on if we are winning or loosing It occurs to me that our team can only remember Silva’s tactics for 20 mins at a time We don’t need a strike , we need some players with a memory that lasts 45 mins
That made me laugh. I got this image of last season of the team leaving the dressing room shaking their heads after wally’s team talk saying “What the **** did he just say?”
Can't believe some of you think Lee Mason is a good ref! As dishonest as they come....how come Arsenal have NOT lost in the last 19 games they have had him in charge?
I have literally got no clue why you're still here I mean, when I make an account on another teams forum, i'm on it for the one week we play them and then (if im not permanently banned/we're in the same division the following season), i'll return the next year to create havoc Im not trying to be mean; but it makes you wonder... How many of these accounts are actually genuine individual people
Done some calculations. Gray has scored 3 Premier League goals in his last 1500 minutes of Premier League football. Okaka has scored 5 Premier League goals in his 1010 minutes of Premier League football.
This is my first ever visit to Selhurst Park so looking forward to it. Have heard it's an absolute hole so should be interesting. As for the match, it's tough to call. We have a lot more quality than them so should win on paper, but it's Palace. Zaha will no doubt try every trick in the book to con the ref, he's an overrated fraud. He averages a goal about 1 in every 10 games and his assists stats are not much prettier. But pundits are easily fooled by a stepover. Unfortunately our playing style is exploited by wingers like him and we usually make him look better than he is. I'll go for an uneventful draw: Palace 2-2 Watford Zaha (p) (90+1), Zaha (p) (90+8), Benteke (miss pen 90+7); Doucoure (37), Deeney (p) (68), Cleverley (missed pen 90+11).
It's the sort of game we can look incredibly naive in. We've got it in us to thrash them out of sight, but we'll need to play with a lot more brain than we've shown in recent games.
Quite. As Mourhino said and we all know we have some incredible individual talent up and down the pitch....what we don't have is a winning mentality. We could beat Barcelona (using a bit of poetic license) one day and lose to Palace the next.
We need a change up front both Deeney and Gray are reaaly off the boil and it seems that no mater how obviouse the Dive Zaha gets away with it i winder what the odd are on the Diving little cheat getting a spot kick tonight. At least it is more like a home game for me tonight with a short train ride from Clapham Junction to Norwood junction
Gomes, Femenia, Pr*dl, Kabasele, Holebas, Cleverley, Capoue, Doucoure, Carrillo, Pereyra, Gray I am expecting us to dominate possession tonight but we will have to be careful with them playing down the sides which they like to do and we are a bit suspect to this as our wing backs push so high. If Doucoure has a good game we should be able to put enough pressure on them and hopefully create chances as Sakho will be huge miss for them there is a reason they paid Liverpool £26m for him in what seemed a bit of a panic by at the time and this is because there defence are very average at best. Like many have said I think it would benefit the team and us long term if we give Richarlison a rest possibly coming on late on in the game. Would go with Gray up front I just think we play better as a team with him on than we do with Troy to be honest they both don't fill me with confidence though.
If Gray plays we will stretch their defence enough to win the game similar to our away wins against Southampton and Newcastle, where Gray started and scored in one of them. If Deeney plays I don't know what will happen am less optimistic.
Burnley are far too consistent to drop 9 points on us, so we really need to win 4 of the next 5 games and hope Spurs and Utd take points off them. Sick of this "avoid relegation first" talk. Both seasons so far we built a platform so that we could pat ourselves on the backs in January and slip into mediocrity. Pat yourselves on the back when you're 7th in May.
Holebas sent off for scything down Zaha, 3-1 Palace with Benteke finally hitting form with two goals. Consolation Deeney penalty.
I am not sure what other options we have in the middle of the park though at the moment if we rest Richarlison which I think he needs then Pereyra would be the best bet for wide left.
Gomes Janmaat Mariappa Kabasele Holebas Doucoure Cleverley Carrillo Pereyra Richarlison Gray 1-3 (Loftus-Cheek, Richarlison, Pereyra, Gray)
I agree with you. I'd rather see success shoe-horned into the team than start with capoue, but I doubt very much silva would agree (or anyone else at all probably).
Some of you = AKA HB1 who this season seems to be extremely interested in referees/conspiracies/The FA/Roswell/Area 51
Why does it matter? If fans of other clubs want to post here, let them. It’s at their own risk and most of them tend to be good value. Or we could ban them and have another 19 page thread on a player we won’t buy...
