With respect, I dont agree.........we do pick players up for the price of MarsBars.

Your view had crossed my mind, but I think this really comes down to ideas of grandiosity & stupidity by managers & chairman.

The large amounts spent by middle of the road teams over the years eg. Spurs, Newcastle, Man City etc on very average mercenaries is just shocking & needless.

If you had half a brain, there's is no reason why anyone else should fall into this way of doing business.

There is no way WFC could ever conduct purchases in the same manner

I think my original statement came over slightly wrong. It's more that some people expect us to be able to attract household names for the price of a Mars Bar, but if you want to buy big names you now have to pay big money.

I think that as a club we do exceptionally well at attracting unknown players in, on the cheap, and selling the players on for good money once we've built them into something special. I wouldn't want us to become a club who just spent out on the latest name to be banded around every season. You only have to look at the list of transfers in and out to see how the club manages to survive.

.... or somefing like that

Comedy gold...I hope that's some kind of sick joke?

We'll see who achieves more in their career. There is NO WAY Bouazza is anywhere near as good as Young!

The most important issue is who we would be able to get as a replacement, should we sell him? As we all know, having lots of money to spend on players is no guarantee of our targets wanting to come.

Scott Sinclair on loan, or a top Argentinian picked-up following our scouting mission over there, might help to slightly relieve the pain. I still think it would be better and far less of a risk if we just kept him though.

whilst he is up for sale hammer IS 100 times better than Ash Young so £20 million on the table!!!!

Surely that would make him more like £900million?!?

Paddy has never been great with figures unless its 36-23-36. That's why he's an accountant.

I'm currently in the middle of a three month accountancy internship funnily enough. It's very tedious but surprisingly it doesn't seem like you need to be any good at maths- computers do all the adding etc. for you.

Although I hope for the sake of Paddy's clients that he's more careful with their accounts than he is with his gambling.

I think for "incredible transfer fee" read, anything above £3m. This is as good as a statement saying Boozer is gone. If we can get big money (£5m+) and the money can be reinvested, then I will be happy, but in realistic terms, this is not likely. As we saw with the Ashley money, it all soon gets absorbed into the club's turnover and finances.

The hard part is attracting replacements of the quality that we need for the money that we are able to pay, if all we get is an inferior replacement then what is the point in selling?

More than likely a total load of rubbish but thought I would say it just in case. Watford have hired a couple of vans from my dad's company this week to take the catering over to Germany and the delivery bloke went down to the training ground and came back saying that bouazza was set to go to West Ham for 4.5 million, I take it to replace the injured French bloke they have just signed. The van delivery bloke is a West Ham fan so it is most likely a wind up but he reckoned they were talking about it down there.
