Just gonna add my bit to this thread,Ive read some and skipped others.

£4.2mill is great buisness for a player that has had 1 half decent season.2 years ago we would have been lucky to get 300k for him when shipped out on loan.

One player does not make a team, and Bouazza at that price is far to much for us to turn down.

We will be in a strong financial position to also bid for better players in the future instead of being out muscled in the T.Market.

We are going places and recieving silly money enables us to compete with wages and transfer fees...and IMO Bouazza aint as great as some make out.

    From the Times:

Fulham have had a £3.9m bid for Watford striker Hameur Bouazza rejected as the Hornets are holding out for £5m. (The Times)

    Lets put this in perspective.
£5mill for a forward player who cannot head the ball to save his life and tends to fall over if he has to use his right foot without 30 seconds advance warning.
Yes, he's good but THAT good?

To be honest who ever moves from the club we are mostly going to say bad things.

Even if Marlon went people would say he's starting to get on, he's been a trouble maker etc.

CAN WE PLEASE STOP WORRYING ABOUT EVERYTHING? ONE PLAYER HAS REJECTED US, AND ONE HAS OPTED TO STAY IN THE PREMIERSHIP, WHICH IS NOT A SIGN OF OUR INADEQUACY. WE WILL DO FINE. NO PLAYERS HAVE LEFT YET AND WE MAY BE GETTING £5 MILLION FOR HB, WHICH IS ABOUT 2 MILLION TOO MUCH FOR HIS ABILITY AT THE MOMENT. ALL IS WELL.

    Thank you

I'm not "saying bad things" about Bouazza, just trying to point out that, unfortunately, £5mill is a lot of dosh for a less than "complete" player. And I don't simply mean that he's young & not reached his potential yet, but that certain aspects of his game (eg, heading) have shown practically zero improvement over the last 3 years. Compare his lack of adequate competence in the areas of: heading, tackling, two-footedness with Ash who has all those.
£8mill plus add-ons for Ash was silly money & in that context so is £5mill for Hameur. Personally I don't want him to go; I hope Flem do not increase their offer so we can tell him: "we done right by you, making it clear you were available for £5mill (which your ability/potential justifies-polite cough-), but no-one was willing to stump up the dosh."

But by the same token, if they DO offer the £5mill it will be 100% counter-productive to attempt to keep him, because he will have no motivation.

    Well said that man.

Bouazza isn't worth more than £3,000,000. That is all.

From most reasonably reliable reports, many more than one player has rejected us and in such a position, we cannot afford to lose what little sparks of quality we have. People harping on about the fee, whether they think it is great business or not are totally missing the point. Whether it is 5 million or 50 million, considering we cannot attract players approaching Boozer's quality to sign for us, the money is useless in team building terms. We already have more than the market is allowing us to spend, so another 5million and a quality player gone puts is in a weaker position.

    Please don't shout next time.

    Moog,

Bouazza DOESN'T have that much quality. Sure, he's got pace, but apart from that little else. His crossing leaves ALOT to be desired and his finishing is somewhat suspect (remember he needed 2 bites at the cherry for his 2nd goal against Pompey).

Yes, I would not mind seeing him stay here for this season at least but if he does go, we'll have even more money in the bank and a more than adequate replacement (McAnuff - he'll be quality).

As far as players rejecting us, to my knowledge it was only Heidar (because of the lure of Premiership/European football), and DJ (Who half of us didn't want to sign for us anyway). It's hardly the end of the world now that Hendo looks to be staying.

Bouazza is our best attacking player (apart from Marlon) and is one of our only match winning players. Yet some people think that we don't need him? Why?

I think the reason why some of us think we don`t need him is, that once having issued `a come and get me plea` to any Prem. club his commitment to our cause is in question. If he had kept quiet there would have been no debate.

It will be hard enough `performing` in this league with a loyal group of players giving 100% effort without mercenaries doing us a favour by drawing a wage cheque,

Just consider what other team members will think if he keeps them out of a place although stating his desire to leave.

Some would say `let him rot in the reserves if we cant cash in`. :)

Our squad must be worth peanuts if Bouazza is not worth £3m (take into consideration potential.

I give up on bigging up Bouazza. I always thought he was highly rated after a good season last year in the PREMIERSHIP.

To be frank, I don't think Hameur is that kind of player - and from what I've heard from our friendlies, he's put in as much effort as anyone - and scored some goals as well.

I hope he stays and I have no problem with it if he does.

In fairness to Bouazza he hasn't said anything at all. His NEW agent has made comments on his behalf and niether Bouazza or his agent have spoken to the club about moving.

This is all agent talk trying to drum up some business and some interest around his player

    Fulham bid for Bouazza

Skysports.com understands that Fulham have lodged a bid for Watford's Hameur Bouazza.

The Algerian international is looking to make the step back up to the Premier League, following Watford's relegation last summer.

The 22-year-old is being trailed by a number of clubs, but Fulham are looking to win the race to land him and have made their move.

Portsmouth, West Ham and Derby are amongst the other suitors and could mount rival bids in the coming days.

Watford are standing firm over their valuation of Bouazza and insist they will not let him leave cheaply, but Fulham will hope their bid - believed to be £3million - will be enough to secure a deal.

  23. Harris

Fulham have seen a bid of £3.9million for want-away Watford striker Hameur Bouazza fail, according to reports.
Cottagers boss Lawrie Sanchez is eyeing at least one more striker deal this summer and has been linked with both Hornets ace Bouazza and Cork City hitman Roy O'Donovan.
However, with Sunderland emerging as rivals for Ireland B international O'Donovan, Sanchez looks to have turned his attention closer to home, although he will have to increase his offer for Bouazza to nearer the £5million mark.

I hope he isn`t `that kind of player` - a cynic may say he is putting the effort in because he is in the `shop window`.

To be fair I don`t know the guy so don`t wish to be over critical, but the loyalty the club has shown him (with his personal development, his father`s illness etc.) should in an ideal world be a two way thing.

I personally don`t subscribe to the `rot in the reserves syndrome` but do feel he should exert more control over his agent (as should Shittu) - as if he is not whole hearted about helping Watford to promotion I would sell him today.

A couple of points to make.

    1. Undisclosed - it does probably mean "less than the 5 we claimed was minimum".

    2. If Collins John is part of the deal - I doubt it'll go through. Why would he accept to join us now - he can just refuse, just as Heidar did wityh West Brom.

    3. If another player is part of the deal it won't matter to me that the undisclosed amount is less than 5 mio - as long as said player is someone I'd want at Watford.

    4. If it is a cash + player it may be undisclosed in order to keep hte player's identity a secret - for Fulham's (or whoever) sake - so the player does not know he's being shipped out until we actually accept the bid.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Derby who've put an offer in. Wet Sham are sniffing around Barnes and Hameur would be good back up if he was to go either by the transfer deadline or in January.
