Just got home. Mullered. Deserved it but not a classic. They had plenty of the ball in the 2nd half but did nothing with it. Proper job completed by lads.
Gary Speed was kind about us too,,saying we were much better 1st half and passed the ball well etc. Makes a change for the opposition manager to give us credit then.
i'm sure it was a nice way of saying we hoofed it in the 2nd half. Can't think why another manager would want to say anything nice and positive about us.
Speed was saying before the game that we pass the ball well and we're clinical in front of goal. Who'd have thunk that after last season?
I might have from April onwards - seriously. Although we didn't always get the results our play had improved - for example against West Brom, to the point where we finished up looking like we had a few goals in us. I think we often played well before that, but showed a glass jaw too often. I think the current good spell is a testament to a ton of hard work with inexperienced players. I have always trusted that GT is satisfied that most aspects of our coaching and preparation are spot on - if it hadn't been so Malky wouldn't be here now. However we are hugely vulnerable to even one or two injuries. The likes of Sordell and Hodson are on their game, but those on the bench look like they need another year or two. Even McGinn is only 21. More than one of Graham, Eustace and M Taylor missing and its a crisis. But look at the Blades - 12m in the pocket from W Ham, 3m Ched Evans on the bench and still we beat them. Happy days - but when the big squads get playing we'll be up against it.
True enough. I just remember times, mainly under Ray, when we outplayed sides for the majority but would never score during our good spells, and would then concede a daft goal. It's nice to see we're sticking most of our chances away.
Twas such a run that got Lewington the boot - a similar mid-season drop off to last year before Boothroyd arrived. He was a decent enough coach though - the two semis were pretty good. When a bad run gets going its always hard to break.
OK, we'll get relegated this season, to League 1, by not getting enough points, because we will hardly get a point from January to May, because Malky is crap. Specific enough?
you forgot to mention the clubs that will go into admionistration and are deducted 10 points, but i love your negativity !
You seem to be rather myopically focussed on Watford in this respect. Sure its unlikely we'll keep this up, but some of the teams in this division are utter shyte.
Just back from a tremendous weekend in Sheffield, looked a bit edgy at times but we managed to close the game out towards the end, Loach pulled off a good save in 1st half injury time, still not quite sure how they did'nt manage to score but I'm not one to complain, onwards and upwards
That says that we are improving as a team if we can grind out a result when not playing aswell as we can.
moog, your comments are a treat. I guess you were saying a few years ago that a forward line of young and king would take us down.........and wonder what you would have been saying this time last year if you'd been a blackpool supporter. Truth if is A) you are a wotsit taker B) this league is simple and fab.......and me thinks Malky has the wits/experience to do well
well pleased with the win. as a few have seen on my facebook page they were well imprssed with us. both on and off the field. the sing song towards the end and after the game made it a cup match result ! my neighbor is still hiding behind his curtains ! he first drew them as we got back at 5.50 pm last evening
Completley agree up to the last paragraph. Stop being so eager to criticise MM, even when he's performing bloody miracles with this squad at the moment. I'm sure if you look into any substitution you can come up with a theory of why it could of been better. For me Mcginn is better defensivley and I wouldn't see Buckley as much of an outlet as despite being fast he's not exactly known for holding the ball up well. As you put, Buckley was causing them all sorts of problems in the first half, but was innefective with the way the game was panning out the start of the second. Malky spotted this and changed it on 61 mins. No doubt if he didn't and they'd gone on to equalise youd've been straight on here questioning why MM didn't change it when the momentum was clearly building up behing Sheff Utd! Is it not time to stop over-analysing things in an attempt to criticise Malky, and perhaps admit he's showing himself to be a much better manager than you and many others have given him credit for in the past? If only some of our fans could be so complimentary towards Malky and the team! Too busy clapping the opposition keepers or telling us how out of his depth Malky is! :forehead:
Totally agree Manky out! Disgraceful decisions for the subs. We are still 32 points from safety and I cant see how we can stay up playing like this.
With regards to Will Buckley coming off after an hour it does seem this is a pre-planned substitution of late. By memory it does seem he comes off first at around the 60-70min mark. His stamina levels look pretty low which I presume is down to him being injured and not playing for some time before we bought him. Does anyone remember how long he was out for while still at Rochdale? So I'm guessing Malky is taking a long term view with him by playing him for that hour or so to get his stamina up to scratch (as well as being an attacking threat during the game) so he can stay on the pitch for longer in the future. If he were to come on as sub with 20-30mins to play he may well have an impact on the game but he'd get no improvement in his stamina. With reserve games few and far between he isn't able to build his stamina up that way and just doing constant fitness training isn't the same is it?
Yes you're ridulous to think that. Remember last season? & the season before? & the season before..etc etc.
