Like him or loathe him, we've now won 4 matches out of 15 in the league under Dyche. That compares with 4 wins out of 21 at the end of last season.
But 4 out of 15 isn't very good is it? In fact our current haul equates to a season total of 49 points - which in four of the last ten season would have seen us relegated. But hopefully we finding our footing and starting to finally gel as a team.
Totally agree, he wasn't that bad tonight, he gets through a lot of work, a lot of it un-noticed, it did not warrant him being 'cheered' as he was substituted by the Rous faithful... what will that do to his confidence. Trust me, he will come good, just give hm time.
No its still poor. And in my opinion, doubts still remain. But I think its only fair we doubters occasionally remind ourselves that Dyche didn't take over a team in red hot form and ruin them overnight. From mid Jan onwards our form was poor, partly why I wanted to see a more experienced person take over. It wasn't a case of simple continuity being the right answer for us, as it often is when a number 2 takes over at a club already doing well. And as I said after Pboro..ur only as good as ur last result..a win is a win! And 4 in 15 is much better than 2 in 13 which it was last Friday!
Superb stuff The whole 'Iwelumo is slow and immobile' argument is stupid anyway, if he wasnt hed be the best striker in the league and he wouldnt be playing for us
Well that's my point. We have middlesbrough now, and the last time weve met top teams this year we've been beaten convincingly. Wins against Brighton and peterborough are all well and good, and very much appreciated, but I'm going to wait to see how we play against a team in form before I believe were now a different team.
Agree with all you post except this part. You cannot have two attacking wide players such as Kightly and Yeates on the pitch at 0-0! I agree Forsyth has not been the most effective in an attacking form so far but what he does bring to the table is support for the full back and an aerial ability which all benefit the team defensively. You simply cannot go gung ho at 0-0 against a team like Brighton they would have passed round the gaps that would have been left by the two attacking midfielders.
We are of differnet opinions then, certainly with regards to Forsyth giving support to the full back. His defensive game is terrible. Also, and I know this puts me in the minority, but I don't believe he has much aerial threat. I know he gets a lot of balls punted in his direction and he can't be expected to get to all of them but for me, Deeney is more effective than him in the air.
Deeneys not the best in the air either to be fair! He's done ok when coming off the bench in that position but doing it for 90 mins is another matter! Forsyth was back helping out ****o on a number of occasions last night! It just seems all too easy to pick out Forsyth for criticism at the moment if people gave him time I'm sure he would grow into an accomplished player but he's only young and raw at present!
I'm not yet firmly of the thinking that Forsyth is terrible, I still have a hunch that there is a good player in there but he is being played in the wrong position and is off form. I wouldn't rule out him being a decent player in a more central role. I brought a Coventry supporting mate to the Millwall game as I had a spare ticket and he turned to me, as a neutral, and said he thought Forsyth was class. The jury is still very much out for me though.
Perfectly written. He was fantastic. Gets it, keeps it, lays it off and we usually get a cross in at the very least. Can't fault him the past 2 games.
I agree that maybe in time he could actually be a very good centre midfielder! This is why though I maintain that dyche leaves him on instead of yeates because he has more defensive capability than yeates allowing the fresh legs of the sub to get on at the full back but still leaving further defensive midfield cover!
How has nobody mentioned the nailed on penalty that wasn't given? Shocking ref and lino's last night.
"Hmm. I saw it come off him. So I'll give a corner." IT CAME OFF HIS BLOODY ARM. He was disgraceful. and what was up with that forsyth booking?
When you see Norwich get given a penalty against Blackburn on Saturday, then compare that with last night, it makes you despair. I think ref's give penalties on a whim, depending on how they are feeling at the time. Watford rarely get anything in that department, so I'm not bothered about penalties anymore. It's something other teams get.
Is knightly is fit next match then he'll come in for Forsyth, goes without saying really. Forsty is fine for about 45 minutes but tires easily, wasn't impressed with the jeers he got when he was substituted!
I believe that was because people wanted him taken off for Kightly yet it was yeates once again who got subbed
I'd like to see a stat at the end of the season on how many yellow cards are given to teams playing against Brighton. They were wind up merchants and produced one of the most dishonest performances I've ever seen at the Vic. It's a shame because they've got decent strikers like CMS and Paynter. The referee was hopeless, absolutley terrible. He must have been bad because we WON and are still talking about what a buffoon he was.
Agree with most of this, but I do believe that Forsyth gets too much criticism. Against Peterborough in the first half I agree his defending was awful giving ****inson no cover at all. Since then he has backtracked well and we have looked less vulnerable down the left. I think people are expecting him to keep taking on and beating the fullback but I don't see that as his forte. He will improve I'm sure but not if the fans get on his back. As for Iwelumo he may be a bit static at times, but his contribution in the last two games has been superb. Hogg was immense, my MOTM and reminded me a bit of Les Taylor. I really hope the midfield pairing is not changed, having one of them free to get into the box works.
I deplore the fans that booed the substitutions. It wasn't a night for that, and we really do have some boneheads that have the intelligence of plankton. That said, Forsyth is not good enough, right now, to hold a place in the team. He has no pace, does not have a trick to beat a man, doesn't cross the ball with any quality, in fact has no qualites needed for playing wide midfield or winger. Maybe he is not in his best position as I see he may have some attributes for full back. Dyche has to play someone else in this position as Forsyth has now had a good run out, but seemingly is getting worse not better.
Forsyth will be kept on due to his height, I think. It means that Iwelumo is free to be doubled marked, rather than triple marked.
I totally agree with your comments on fossie..A few weeks ago they said he was one for the future and not ready and has been thrown in at the deep end.Steven would be playing if he was fit,but he is not.I don't agree with the boo's aimed at him, will do him no favours and the players needs encouragement.Funny how the wingers are always targeted,we have been spoilt with Adam Johnson, and Cleverly over the years.Mcanuff always got stick as well.
He's got something about him. He's not lightweight, puts a tackle in, works hard with a good attitude. He's just not a natural winger for me. I'd play him up front alongside Sordel. He'd be more mobile than Iwelumo and has proven he can win the ball in the air. It would be interesting to see if he can link up the play as that's really all we are missing - someone to head the ball or hold it up and bring others in.
Anyone who sarcastically cheered Forsyth makes me sick. Brainless, pathetic *******. They're not fans and are staining our club.
