Glad to hear it, I'd definitely take a point v 'Boro, haven't got a great feeling about it, think we'll play admirably but lose narrowly. 6 points seperate us to 7th so it's not that bad when you think of it like that. If Dyche can continue to play attacking football more then he'll begin to get my backing more and more, COYH!

    Fantastic win.

Well done boys. Three more much needed points against the sort of side we need to be beating at home. Nice too see our home
form getting back on track too. Well, we said give Dyche a chance to turn things... thats 6 from 6 now and 1 clean sheet. Is this just a purple patch? I hope not... we are playing well again and I hope it continues.

Tough one next, Middlesbrough (A) 17:15 KO at the Riverside. Not an easy game, but on current form, I think I speak for all of
us when a draw away would be good to go along with two consecutive home wins. Maybe we can sneak a win, as boro' seem
to draw a lot of games.

    WELL DONE YOU ORRRRNNNNS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic result, very pleased with the last 4 days work from the team!

Inspired substitution by Dyche, credit to him there. Makes tonight and tomorrow a little more enjoyable anyway! Thanks to the result I feel like playing football manager for a little while yet before getting some kip.

Also Caskey - I did warn you that once you get stuck in a rut, these things are hard to get out of in the Championship. Looks like it's snowballing! ;)

I've been impressed with the last two performances we've really moved the ball around well.

I would still like the fans to lay off Forsyth you can still sense that they're quick to get on his back.

After all I'm sure it was this time last year that deeney was subject to the boos yet tonight the rookery were wetting themselves about him and chanting his name! Give the young lad a chance!

I felt sorry for the ref tonight. He must have lost a fair amount of money when our goal went in.

In all seriousness though, I'm still not convinced. Brighton were there for the taking and although we had the little man in black playing along with the best theatrical performance since Derby three months ago, we should have made even more chances than we did.

We still don't move for eachother. We still lack any kind of through balls for Sordell to run on to. We still lack an attacking workhorse and let's face it, if you nullify Iwelumo (as the ref nearly did tonight) then you pretty much nullify us. Forsyth will continue to start as we take the long ball option.

Although a lot of credit needs to go to ALL the players tonight for a gritty performance, really up against it as soon as Buaben was booked. Thrilled for me, thrilled for them, thrilled especially for Troy.

EDIT: Boos/ironic chants were well out of order for Fozzy. He is a good player, but as we've seen with Hodson in the past, bad spells happen. Nobody liked McGinn to start with either but there you go.
EDIT 2: Also feel its worth me pointing out that I was impressed with us tonight, but keeping my feet on the ground until we really come up against a good team a la West Ham, Southampton, or of course Middlesbrough...

    Fantastic result and performance.

Despite Brighton's brand new stadium and 12th man they were no match for us. We really do look like we've turned a corner.

    Where's Caskey?

Great 1st half, we shouldve scored within the first 15 minutes really, great passing in the 1st half. 2nd half went back to being a bit direct but we still didnt play too badly, I feel sorry for Forsyth i want him to play well but I dont think he's a winger. Deeney played very well when coming on, he has improved a lot, getting back to help the defence out, taking it round people etc, he seems like hes palying well on the wing, maybe he should start ahead of Forsyth.

Ref ruined the game tonight, we were playing some lovely stuff until he started booking players on both teams for good challenges

Delighted with the win, thoroughly deserved, excellent performances from Mapps, Nosworthy, Hodson and Iwelumo in particular

Pleasing win this eve. Quite nice to be walking back to the car on the way home and to hear Brighton fans moaning about the big bloke Iwelumo up front who won everything this evening! He was immense this eve, not just wining headers but getting the ball onto his chest and keeping the ball in our possession, which is a good job because Sordell wasn't exactly at the races today in the second half.

At the back, we are so much better with Hodson as he defends as well as Doyley but he goes forward and puts dangerous crosses consistently, some of the link up play he done was fantastic with Yeates. Mariappa was a rock at the back, helped picking up the loan striker Mackhail-Smith who isn't great in the air and Notworthit was again very, very solid. Really impressed with him so far, does everything simple.

In the middle of the park, Prince was quieter than Saturday but put a steady performance but Hogg was everywhere, really put himself about closing down play all the time and then putting a nice pass in once he won. I think he is more assured without Eustace as he knows he can go for every ball and not have a team mate getting in the way trying to do the same thing.

I suppose you could call it an inspired sub bringing Deeney on for the ineffective Forsyth (brilliant cross after 30 secs, got fired up when booked and looked a different player for about 3 mins and then back to usual self) but Deeney was lucky with the goal to be honest, should have scored with the first shot but miss hit it and then it seemed as though he basically won a tackle and it went it. Anyway, he deserved it for going for the second ball so tough on Brighton at the end of the day, we deserved it!

Just back. Bl**dy magnificent to stick it to a team so up their own backsides it's unbelievable.

I went to this game very optimistic about seeing a decent game of football, but unsure about who would come out with the points. By half time I was utterly disgusted with the Brighton team. I actually lost count of the number of times they went down clutching their faces, it's all they ever do. Cheats is the understatement of the year, they quite obviously practice those tactics in training. Honestly, by half time I had gone from a sort of admiration for a club "on the up", to absolute disgust at the tactics. I hope they go down, **** em, dirty little scumbag cheats. Two yellow cards we got in the first half because the ref was conned 100%.

How do the Brighton supporters put up with it? Does being top half of the Championship, (not for long now BTW), excuse it?

Not only that but we sussed them completely, as have most of the Championship by the looks of it. Don't let that take away from the immense game we played, every Watford player 9 out of 10 tonight.
They didn't have a shot on goal that I remember so well did our defence play.

Their fans were silent for most of the game, quietest I've seen at the Vic for a long time.

Inspired sub by Dyche, absolutely on the button. Same team Saturday please gaffer.

Bye bye Brighton, come back when you've ditched the cheating.

Worth pointing out that even though Sordell didn't have his best game going forward, just before Buaben was booked, Hogg was out on the right and had missed a tackle. Marvin immediately noticed and got back to cover for him until play was stopped.

So fair play for that, I can't imagine he'd have done that in our earlier games.

Had to laugh at the old codger Taricco coming on a right back. Approaching 40 now and boy could you see it, he even dived like an old bloke slipping on ice in the winter. He was lucky Forsyth was playing against him to be honest as anyone with a bit of pace would have had a field day. I thought Forsyth really could have pushed him as Taricco got booked when Forsyth had his 5 mins of being fired up and he was a sending off waiting to happen, especially with the ref we had!

Brighton will be struggling at the end of the season at this rate if they are playing blokes like him. Like Admin, I had a fair bit of respect for them before the game but the cheating and general boring predictable play from the back was awful.

At 1st when I read Poyet had said (from Twitter):''He says worst performance for 18 months and lambasted players for abandoning his passing principles. It's strong stuff.'', I thought we'd beaten a team who just played awfully, but then we must have stopped them from playing so much for them to 'abandon their principles' and for them to play as bad as he's seen 'for 18 months'. If we were average and let them play then they would have done 100%. COYH.

Pleased to get the win finally, as we were all over them in the first 20 minutes or so. The game should have been over by then. Watford's inability to score when dominant is a constant problem. Sordell missed a couple of easy chances when he shot over the bar from very good positions. He also forced a smart save from the keeper at the near post and was unlucky with a flick header from a perfect Yeates cross. Iwelumo and Yeates were we main reason for the fantastic start to the match. They were on fire, but faded as the match progressed. Forsyth looked very poor tonight, slow and completely off the pace. I'm hopeful that Kightly will start on Saturday. The defence deserve a lot of praise tonight. They kept the Brighton front line quiet all night. They were reduced to a couple of long shots and came close from a near post flick from a corner, but that's about it. Nosworthy and Hodson have made a difference. I don't think we're missing Eustace either. Two matches without him and two wins, which have both been totally deserved. I think our injuries have been a blessing and hopefully Beattie can fit in well once fit.

Full marks to the whole team, fantastic defending from the front, pressing their back line and for most of the 1st half they struggled to play it out of their own third.

You could see the style Poyet has instilled in them, when Harper always opted to go for the short option rather than blast it upfield, so full marks to Sordell and Iwelumo for running those extra yards and closing the defence down.

Fantastic fitness and work ethic from all, we've made two of the better footballing sides in the division look distinctly average these past two games. More of the same please.

Great win and by the sounds of it another assured performance by the whole team...

As was said earlier on we really were blessed with the recent injuries, hodson seems to offer us so much more.
Having Thompson back too, It should be difficult for Doyley to get back into the match day squad (but that wont be the case)

Prince and Hogg sound like a good partnership in the center, would like to see an unchanged side against boro.
We usually play well when we're on sky!!!

Another Great pre match write up too lads, keep em coming

Was a good game. Although, there were times we seemed to lose our heads and reverted to a bit of hoof.
One main point I picked up today was Forsyth just wasn't up to it today. He usually puts in a good effort, but I'm not sure what was up with him today. He was, once again, a good aerial threat but in terms of passing and running, was a bit meh. Was so angry when Dyche took Yeates off instead of Forsyth...Yeates being one of our better players all season in my eyes..

Anyway, a nice win. "That's why you're going down" yeah nice one Brighton :)

Great Result..Worked hard for that, didn't give them a sniff, and they say hard work pays in the end.I though Troy Deeney was unlucky to be dropped after the Hull game, pleased he scored.

4 points clear of relegation now, which gives us some breathing space.Hopefully we can gain something at Borough on Sat,will be a very hard game, and not a lucky ground for us.Seen us win once up there.

Just waiting to see if the usual suspects that give no credit to the team and Dyche will appear..Who said we can't keep clean sheets..woop woop...

errrr, he's not lightening quick but held the ball up and laid off really well + often took two defenders to mark him in the box which created space for others

On another note, how many of you at half time, after all of our dominance, could only see a Brighton win at full time?

Well done, your post is of such tremendous idiocy that you have pulled me out of posting retirement for one game.

Were you at the game? Iewlumo not only won EVERYTHING, he also used the ball about as intelligently as I can remember a Watford player using it. He was FULLY aware of all the players around him, and his ball control was like something out of the Barcelona book of ball control. He kept the ball when he had to, he never gave it away needlessly, he brought everybody into play - we even scored from an Iwelumo knock down!

He was absolutely brilliant today in every way! He played a target man game to perfection, it was great to watch. He is also a leader on the pitch, encourages and orders, and didn't stop running, even though he is very slow.

Frankly, I can't put into words how daft your comment is. The only explanation is that you literally have your head up your own ar5e so far the you were unable to watch the game.

We've been getting better recently with him and Marv up front and he does prove a handful for defenses but I agree, he's an awful footballer. Anyone noticed how Sharp Troy is looking this season? Has trimmed down a bit and seems to have an extra yard of pace.

sorry if my comment has upset you, and yes i was at the game. its just my opinion, and if it stinks, then fair enough. i just feel he didnt do that well at all. im not really one for slagging the lads off, like i said i didnt think he played that well. everytime i watched him, he gave it away. One instance near our own penalty area....

Very good performance based on 2 different halves really.

Went at Brighton with a high tempo 1st half and really should have got a couple of goals up.

Brighton did have more play in the 2nd but we defended well and don't think Loach had an effort to save of note.

Hogg was MOTM but cannot fault too many of the players tonight - excellent all around.

Yeates didn't look too happy being taken off first ahead of Forsyth!

Guess Dyche will be taking the praise for his inspired change to get Deeney on.

Why is it that fans only see criticism's of players. Is it because he never scored that you didn't notice the good things he done.I agree strikers are judged on there goals, rather than what they do by making things happen,a bit like Teddy Sheringham, and he had no pace, just a good footballing brain, and Big chris used his brain to hold the ball up,bring others into play.He knows he is not gonna sprint at 100mph,but he does not need to.

What I can't get is that the man came in for a lot of stick but didn't really play much and was not match fit..But he played quite well at Leicester, and Hull and is looking good as he gets much fitter.

A great result and superb to see back to back home wins. A point up in the asshole of England on Saturday would top off a great week of results. Brighton looked very poor and devoid of confidence, and made their intentions clear of being after a point from the first minute.

The ref – I thought he was superb to be honest, up until he booked Buaben for a great tackle and from that moment onwards he fell for everything and his performance turned to ****. The lack of consistency bothers me. Not long before we scored we had a throw, the ball was on the side of the pitch and a BHA player chipped it into the main stand – no booking. When we are one up Deeney knocks the ball away – booking. Two minutes later Hodson knocks the ball away – no booking. Crap and inconsistent with his decisions. It seemed that up until the Buaben tackle he was bored at having nothing to do which is why he pulled that one up and it went downhill from there. The old saying of the best refs being the ones you don’t notice seems to be long forgotten.

Loachy – I can’t really remember him doing a great deal but what he did have to do, he done well.

The back four were superb and seem to have a very good understanding already. Mariappa is having his best season to date, and even when Doyley is fit again he shouldn’t go straight back in whilst Hodson is on form.

Hogg was busy and effective, the Prince was looking good again but the booking didn’t help him and he was less effective from there on in. Refs need to realise it is a man’s game.

Yeates was looking good again, and Forsyth looked pony again. If I was Yeates I would be incredibly pissed off at being subbed ahead of Forsyth. That substitution only aides the theory that Dyche is still tactically inept and has stumbled across a winning formula purely by luck. Forsyth was utter **** and had even started to walk towards the bench before Yeates number came up. That said, the cheering of Forsyth when he did finally go off was again indicative of the high percentage of Watford fans that are ********s. It’s not his fault he is on 5hit form, it’s the managers fault for not seeing what 11,000 other people can see.

Iwelumo was superb, I will echo what was said above about the intelligence used by him. He was solid and caused a hell of a lot of problems for the Brighton back line. Superb. Apart from his overhead kick – Devon White v Luton, anyone?

Princess Marv is getting a lot of benefit from Iwelumo finding some form. He is too lazy to play on his own and needs someone to do a lot of the work for him just like DG did last season. Now Iwelumo is starting to do that it will lead to a lot more goals for Princess this season and he is looking like a real goal threat again.

Roll on Boro, I would take a point now and I can also see us getting it. The only change to the starting line-up should be to shoot Forsyth and start Kightly.
