Whether it was the last kick or there could have been enough time for a counter attack is only relevant if getting the draw was massively important. We are safe from relegation, and as much as a draw was a good result last night, a chance to win it should have been tried, mainly for the 1500 fans who went to support.

However, that was just one moment in a game where I thought most of the players and the manager came out with plenty of credit.

Thanks - so it is not obvious that Clevs has made on of the two "best starts to their reigns" under Pozzo.

How many of those would have considered those first 5 games to be a success? Only arguably Preston would be a 'disappointing' result out of the 5 he's had so far, which goes to show both how we've fallen in recent years, and also that the fixtures have been tricky. Pearson and Silva got off to great starts which unfortunately didn't last, Gracia tailed off that season but did excellently the next season, Xisco, Bilic and Edwards got off to solid starts in the Championship, but crucially we only ever really looked convincing under Xisco once we managed to get a proper XI on the pitch. Mazzarri and QSF were solid if not spectacular, Zola and Jokanovic came to us in fairly chaotic circumstances, but we did eventually get settled with some truly excellent players for the division, the likes of which won't be available for Clev. There are some resemblances between Clev and Sannino, they came to us off the back of a terrible run of form and have steadied the ship, but Clev has a much better chance of being more than a firefighter, I don't think the players will revolt against him on the pitch at any point!

I saw my role here today as merely one of a stats provider.

People can interpret them as they wish, and of course as this is WFC forums, there’s almost certain to be some nit-picking or pedantic remarks. Goes with the territory here when trying to post some research or data.

TC has equalled the best start for going unbeaten, but is a little way down the list for points won in his opening 5 matches. As my first post was comparing managers for when they lost their first match for us, I feel it’s perfectly valid to say TC has made the joint best start for that particular criteria. Not in every criteria no, but I didn’t actually say that.

If somebody did stats tonight about wins in their opening five, he’d obviously be practically at the bottom, along with QSF by memory who I think also had a 1 in 5 win record after five games (first time). I think Wilder would have been the same, but I’ve not checked. @Teide1 maybe a task for you if you get time?!

TC’s fixtures (on paper) have been very tough, but equally other managers on the list were competing in the PL.

Some managers on the list had 3/5 home matches, but equally you can argue we’ve been so poor at the Vic lately that actually TC had an advantage by having 3/5 away.

So we can all interpret the stats as we see fit, but I do think personally that Tom is doing very well. Would like another win or two though before I 100% endorse him.

Nope. Criteria is a plural, you meant criterion. Nitpicking and pedantic were correct, though!

Don't get me wrong, if the opportunity arose for us to bring in, say, Diego Martínez, I'd like us to go down that route, but in the likely event of no reputable managers wanting to take the job, I'd be very happy with Clev

I agree that his recent performances have been much improved especially those areas that you have
highlighted. If only he had a goal in him.....

That is pretty decent for a Wednesday night when we have nothing to play for and most thought we would get battered
