Lyon fans don't seem to like him very much. Seem he's be ***** for 4 years, had 3 great months run the run up to the summer so asked for a stupidly big contract and found himself unemployed.

Fans don't seem to want him back...

"According to our information, a track would be opened today in Premier League for Rachid Ghezzal. Indeed, a contact has been made lately by the club of Watford which manifested its interest. Initial discussions would have been initiated. Watford has in any case the financial means to align itself with the financial conditions of the deal. Business to follow in the next few days."

We've been linked with far easier names to pun with. No thanks.

Reports say he turned doen 350k a week at Everton. Doubt we'd get anywhere even close to that.

Edit: sctratch that. It was a month.

I reckon Silva could tame this African Lion. If you look at the Lyon highlights from season before last he looked wonderful. More chance of getting him than Carrillo and in many ways more exciting and with a wicked left foot shot. Is a gamble but out of contract. Structuring his wages within our budget biggest challenge. Reminds me of Zyech or Boufal and a massive upgrade on the Bat'. COYHS

Greedy. Seems to have been trading on one good season and let his contract run down so he could hold prospective suitors to ransom with ridiculous wage demands. Most of the big teams have abandoned their interest. We don't need another Niang here thank you.

What top footballers today are NOT greedy? They only get 10 years or so at the top and have to make the most of the short time because the money has to last them the rest of their life I suppose.

If we're going to restrict ourselves only to those altruistic socialist footballers who don't care about money and play simply for the joy of it and to get a bit of fresh air and some exercise, our squad is going to be a bit thin. In fact, I myself might be in with a shout of making the bench.

This is professional soccerball played for megabucks.

If this lad's any good and an upgrade on what we already have and we can afford his wages, then let's get him in.

I entirely agree. This guy was really hot property a year ago. If we don't have to pay a transfer fee thats a good start. I have faith in Gino and the recruitment team to negotiate the rest. This guy is as close as we will get to a Payet type player. Eventually he will move on but it could be an exciting ride. Silva likes these young flair players. We are not going to push on and develop in an ever more competitive league if we take no risks. Has a wonderful left foot and can pass, dribble, shoot from distance, cross, free kicks, can find his team mates, the lot. Or shall we stick with Amrabat? COYHS

Wow, I was Googling 'socialist football' looking for the existence of a club or league, just for are Clive's benefit and one of the first things that came up was an article with our very own, sorry the Scouser's very own John Barnes:

    Football is a socialist sport:

Oh I recognise professional sport for what it is. I'd happily see it abolished and only amateur sport played for enjoyment and achievement take its place.

But in the meantime, while I'm waiting, I'm a Hornet!

Was it you who once claimed that based on shirt sponsor, the World Cup is won by either Nike or Addidas at almost alternating compitions?

Fact - Football is the opium of the people. The Chinese league proves that and Money is just another tool to be used to bring down the capitalists.

Those kit suppliers are just fronts for Spectre and Smersh. The corruption of FIFA made the infiltration dead easy. Call for 007...

Calcio Mercato report that Ghezzal will enter formal negotiations with Watford after talks have ended with AC Milan. Perfectly reasonable that if we don't offer him a good enough deal then he will return to Milan. But it seems it's now our turn to take him to court or spike his drink (see Holebas 2015).

Not definitively but he was a regular for Lyon, chased by Roma and AC Milan and he's on a free transfer. His highlight videos will get you jacked, looks like a Mahrez/Payet crossbreed. Of course these highlight videos aren't a true representation of a players ability.
