I don't really get the reasoning behind that. It would be very harsh to drop Woakes, or Curran. Perhaps they are thinking of dropping Rashid. Or maybe it is just a way of showing some moral support to Stokes.
The way things are going, what with the summer now back to normal and only Kohli putting up any resistance, England really don’t need a spinner.
Edgbaston MOTM Sam Curran has been dropped for the third test to make way for Ben Stokes. What an ugly decision, on so many levels. Root says it was the hardest decision of his captaincy.
I'm a little surprised by this, Curran has been a revelation so far, but I suppose he is young and has plenty of time so maybe they don't want to over use him just yet?
Its a bit of a farce really. Not sure if im going to boo or not tomorrow. In the kids family non drinking section so might try and get a chant going. Ben stokes is a ******, he wears a ******* hat. When he went to bristol, he was a ******* ****.
Root is probably only the captain because he is the one who will stick around in the team for a long time whereas most of the others are coming to the end of their careers or aren't reliable enough. I mean wasn't Ben Stokes vice captain!?
If these 2 can put on a further 150/200 without a wicket then we would be in with a shout ! Right now it is just a case of restoring a bit of pride and taking it into the 5th day.
Conscious that England were bobbing along nicely I decided the only thing for it was to turn on TMS. You can thank me later for the two wickets India.
Gritty but ultimately futile but at least we made it to the last day. Any prospect of a plague of locusts in the forecast tomorrow?
Everything was. But, with paedophilia being endemic, there has to be a ‘swings & roundabouts’ element to our comparison.
Trent Bridge charging a tenner to get in for what may be a 1 ball experience. Idiots. Just open the gates.
I wonder how many more people they'd have attracted had they done the sensible thing and announced this yesterday, especially families. Greedy b*****ds.
Is it greedy? They've refunded the tickets people have already paid for. And presumably they'll incur costs from having to host that 20 minute spectacle. The counties aren't exactly awash with money.
Yeah I think it's taking the pee asking for a tenner for possibly a single ball. Someone said on talksport this morning that in Australia day 5 is often free and it encourages families to come down and get the kids on the pitch after the match to have some mini cricket going on. Let people stay for the day and they'll be buying the overpriced merchandise and beer which will cover the costs. Unfortunately by announcing it's free a couple of hours before the match begins is already too late for most people to organise. I think they've missed a trick.
