We do have to thank Silva for initially talking him into coming here and then paying £40m for him. He has generated c£30m profit we would not have otherwise achieved. Plus of course any compensation we get. We have certainly benefited financially from hiring him.
Ha yeah nice one Marco. I doubt he would have even heard of him before our scouts unearthed this Brazilian kid Richarlison.
This to me shows that we really do not have the ambition to push for a Europa league position. So many fans seem happy that we have made a profit of £45 million. The truth is we have to give at least £10 million of that to his previous team and we spent 10 million on Richie last year so the total profit is about £25 million. We made well over a 100 million profit just by staying up last year and have not spent it yet so why everyone feels we are suddenly going to buy a quality striker and defender makes so sense. It would have made more sense to try to get one of Everton's promising young forwards in return or even Walcott who would be able to get at least 10 goals a season playing for us. Buying a new forward in is going to be a risk and it wont surprise me if the player we bring in as a striker is a cheap option who is not better than the forwards we already have. Richie has the talent to be a far better player than he was last year. It is a myth to suggest he was only good for several games last season. He played very well up until Leicester at home on Boxing Day. He showed pace, direct running, skill, was good in the air and a good work rate. He would get into very good goal scoring positions and if he improves his ability to take opportunities and pass at the right time he will be an exceptional player in a few years. He was simply gone in the new year and needed a rest. How many really good games did Hughes and Chabolah have last season? - about 3 each and yes thats due to them being injured for most of the season, but far too early to suggest that they are exceptional. A lot of fans were suggesting that Richie was our most exciting player since John Barnes and a player sure to be playing for an elite team in a few years. The talent he showed does not go away due to a drop in form which makes sense for a young player playing his first year in a new league. As for fans suggesting that Deulofeu is far better - based on what exactly? He played two very good games for us when he first arrived, then gets injured and has a few substitute appearances at the end of the season. He is just as talented as Richie but has never found regular form and often looked exhausted when he was at Everton. Also Richie scored 5 goals last season which is more than Deulofeu has in a single season. Selling Richie is a gamble as he might be worth far more in the future and we need to bring in a striker anyway so keeping him would have made sense. The only reason we should sell someone with that potential is if he had an attitude problem or made it clear he was unhappy at Watford and wanted to leave. Not suggesting that Richie is the new Ronaldo but Ronaldo only scored 5 goals in his first year at Man Utd and was very inconsistent for his first three years there. Diego Forlan was a joke at Utd for his time there and he scored his first goal for them after about 30 games. He then leaves Utd and becomes one of the best strikers in Europe. Angelo Di Maria and Falcao were awful in the Premier League but are brilliant players. It is far too early to write off Richie and it is not a work of genius for us to sell him when we need a striker anyway. A lot of fans were suggesting selling Vydra was brilliant buisness at the time but it wasnt as Vydra would improve our team at the moment. Keeping Britos and Prodl makes no sense unless the owners dont want to spend money on improving our defenders. Its a shame if we dont bring in a quality defender and striker as our midfield is good enough to put us in a position where we should be 7th - 10th in the league.
The two players I would be most gutted to see are Chalobah and Hughes. I believe Doucoure will eventually move on for big money - this summer or next. He’s a player in his prime and a rare commodity as a real box to box midfielder proven in the Prem. Chalobah if he stays fit will be in the England squad very soon and could blow the Richarlison money out of the water if he reaches his potential. I don’t want to jinx Hughes, but I think he is genuinely the most talented player we’ve had under the Pozzos. At the end of last season not even Pereyra could match this man’s ability. With a good following wind, he is our most important player for the season ahead.
This is so poor I can't help but think that you are a scouser on a wind up. Elaborate but unconvincing. Or you really are a bit dim.
TBF he doesn't say £100m profit. That would be crazy. He says well over £100m profit. I stopped reading at that point. Was it a whoosh ?
The post says in one paragraph we aren't sure Hughes and Chalobah are good enough but the final one suggests we have the midfield to be 7th... Contradiction? BTW Richalison may have been unhappy and wanted to leave... Doesn't give us a mention of thanks to us in his leaving statement.
I hope you are right but this is based on about 5 performances sandwiched between 4? Seasons where he did nothing and a very serious injury from which he is still recovering.
My understanding from all the reports is we owed Flumenese 10% on any profit over the price we paid them (£11.8m). Everton paid WFC what, £40m to £45m? Say £42m. That's 10% of £30.2m which is a little over £3m owed to the Brazilian side, not £10m. But you're roughly right on the actual profit made by WFC on the sale, approximately £27m. As for making £100m profit last season I'm afraid you're well off. The link below is a summary from what I believe to be the last lot of accounts. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/ne...inancial-report-provides-reason-for-optimism/ It shows an actual pre-tax profit going from £3.6m to £4m which was only achieved because of player sales, namely Ighalo for £22m, otherwise a loss would have been posted for the year. The gross debt increased also from £12m to £50m with loans approaching £45m. The club is far from flush with money.
Agree; Hughes is one of those players who we'll start to get more out of as we increase the quality of those around him. Our currently sub-par strike force gives him little to work with, but the boy has vision and if/when we finally have players capable of finding space, we'll see Hughes do some truly excellent work on a regular basis. Unfortunately for Hughes, your passing opportunities are always going to be limited if the forward line is less mobile than the Rock of Gibraltar. Sorry, Rock have Gibraltar.
Best player on the pitch on both pre season games . Looked classier than Pereyra and he’s also started to snap into challenges more . If he can increase his goals/assists he’s going to be a top 6 player in a few years .
Richarlison looks downright miserable in all the photos/videos Everton have released since he moved up there. Perhaps he's realised he's signed for the wrong Scouse club. I did enjoy his interview when he got asked if Evertons history had a bearing on him (or something similar) and you sort of think you guys havent come close to achieving anything since a good decade or more before Richie was even born. There's definately a Leeds mentality around that club
Posted a decent message to Watford & Fans on his Instagram. Agree that he may have wanted to leave. It's worth noting that the Richarlison deal is the largest profit the Pozzo family have made on a single player trade in their entire history involved in the game. As far as i've seen from Brazil media Fluminense are due 10% of the profit which is about €3m - €3.5m
Think you will find he did on both his instagram and twitter accounts: https://www.instagram.com/p/BloIe7YgyOB/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=9245wb1h5c6
It's not a reason for hating the guy anyway. He was often sulky when being subbed but to me that's a positive. Shows he cares and always gave 100%. Could become a great player but will he be given the time and space at Everton to develop?
Not the debut he probably wanted so far. Has missed a goal - and Everton 2-0 down at Blackburn. Silva's stocks sliding a bit? Edit - make that 3-0...
The fans are praising him on twitter as their best player, if that's true Everton must be total dog ****. Richy couldn't get a game for us.
