Mixed feelings as would have liked to see Richarlison regain his form with us plus I like his song. But have to take that sort of crazy money and the risk is all with Everton. On the slight downside doubt we will reinvest it all and clubs may put their prices up for us. I just hope this goes through quickly now cos if it falls through we could have a sulky player whose value could plummet.
Me too but there is a limit on squad size so we would not be able to fit many in our squad . I'm sure they will have a plan.
Maybe/hopefully the Pozzos have already got a couple of deals agreed and are waiting on this one to go through to pull the trigger. Wouldn't surprise me as clearly a possible Richie sale has been on the cards for a while now.
They have paid a huge premium for his potential, and after the Sigurdsson transfer last year you would have thought they'd be more cautious? £50m, and to replace him we just need to find somebody that can score 5 goals and chip in with some assists. The money spent on transfers has become absurd
Cue Ken Sema. 5 goals and 5 assists is something you'd expect from a £3m player! Edit: Then sell him to Everton for £60m!
Yes, but I bet they cost a lot more in wages and signing-on fees than Richie. Transfer fees are only a part of the picture and could be misleading about the true cost of signings Which isn't to say that I'm not over the moon at Gino taking Everton to the cleaners
Not necessarily. Sigurdsson is rumoured to be on £140k a week. Any agent worth his salt would be demanding Rich is paid a similar amount.
Doesn't touch the ball till the 25th second, the last 10 seconds is just him looking moody, half the time you can't see him kicking the ball because of the editing and the few times he does get the ball you have no idea whether he actually completed the pass.
I know he had a moody looking face 99% of the time but I did love his work rate and battling attitude to games. He was often given a knock to the head and then went in the same danger zones minutes later. With his physique and playing style he reminded me of C Ronaldo. Obviously no where near his standard (yet) but if he could rediscover that early season form and become consistent he’d be a great player. I’d rather he was staying, but this is currently a good deal for us. Looking at our wide attacking options I’d say he doesn’t even need replacing.
Going by his 45 minutes against K*ln, but I don't think Sema is quite good enough to nail down a starting spot, and certainly not one ahead of Pereyra and Deulofeu. Seemed to lack a bit of pace on the ball for a winger. He'd be a useful option, especially as he's left-footed, but I don't see him shining. I'll be happy to be proven wrong though, maybe he's still a bit further off fitness than some of the other players. 1:02 - Gray gonna Gray.
If we use the money to get a decent striker and centre half in, it's the deal of the century. If we don't, then meh.
Ken should fit in well, you can see the ambulance strategically placed in the video, of course this could also be for our other casualties.
He did cross the ball with both feet, however. Let's hope he can do that when somebody's trying to stop him, and that his crosses find their man
I think Richarlison will be like Igalho - unplayable for a while then opposition scouts figure him out and he fizzles.
Selling may imply that Success has done well pre season and we re happy that he can push for a first team place behind Bobby P and Del Boy.
If we had kept both Peryera and Richarlison next season then Bobby would’ve ended up with more assists and more goals. Bobby can calmly bend the ball into the corner, richy absolutely can’t, bobby can pick a defence splitting passs, richy in most cases can’t and just runs into the opposition or blazes hopelessly over. The difference between the two players is that one is at their potential and one isn’t. Equally though Richy may never reach his potential. We are getting £50m for some potential. It reminds me a bit of when Arsenal bought Walcott. It was a ridiculous fee at the time but Arsenal wanted to get in early on a young English player who looked like he could become a world beater. Obviously he did ok but I don’t think he ever reached the heights his initial potential suggested he might. Richy to me is actually a worse version of Walcott. Selling him and keeping Bobby P would be scandalously good business IMO.
A lot is made out of Silva’s departure and Rich’s poor form, however I think he just got figured out. Was doubled up on and wouldn’t stray from the left touch line contributed more. I’m already looking forward to seeing him getting crunched at the Vic and seeing Snake again.
£50m - pah! Biggest fee we ever received was for Mo Johnston - £450K from Celtic in 1984, worth approx. £3 billion in today's money.
Bear in mind if the £35m includes a settlement re Silva the real base fee might only really be say £27.5m ?
I like this point on the Everton forum: “I'm flabbergasted at this to be honest. What is the reason for a DOF if we again turn to another PL club and overpay them for a player, giving them the opportunity to spend that money better than us?” Basically this deal which actually weaken them (assuming £50m is a large part of their transfer budget) and strengthen us. Considering that we bought him for £11m, lord knows what we’ll be able to do with the balance from this deal. We'll be able to bring in a couple of quality players that will strengthen our team overal and actually take us closer to Everton.
At least he is there - rather than in a Las Vegas court as I thought the BBC report said he was next due in court on July 18th- perhaps he missed that as well
Currently listening to an audio diary piece recorded this morning by Phil Kirkbride, the Liverpool Echo's Everton correspondent. He knows as much as anyone here. Actually knows less as he thinks Richarlison is our best player. He's droned on about Everton and every single person attached to the club have gone to the Algarve this weekend because they've two games out there. Because of this the earliest a medical will take place will be early next week, maybe Monday. He doesn't actually know. He thinks the fee is closer to £30m-£35m than the £50m first mentioned but it may well go up to that figure due to incentives and clauses. Again, he doesn't actually know. He thinks Richarlison will be deployed across the front line but it depends on who stays and who's transferred out. He doesn't actually know. Here's the link if you want a listen. I wouldn't bother if I were you though. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...verton-pre-season-richarlison-latest-14854892 That was the dullest 10 minutes of football related news I've listened to in a long time and I feel bad for sharing it with you lot. I just felt nobody else should have to go through that, at least not without a boredom warning. If you are tempted to listen though, just stop and think of the most painful thing you could insert into any body orifice and do that instead, it'll be far less traumatic than what Mr Kirkbride will inflict upon you.
