In many ways this would be a bit disappointing because I genuinely feel this lad could become something special, there are a number of reasons he probably tailed off last season but you can't do the first time take and nutmeg he did against muff without skill. It would be nice to see him grow and flourish with us, John Barnes like.

That said, if he stayed and flourished with us he would probably still only be worth £50m, not exclusively but you seem to have to play for a big club to be sold for really big money. He also may not turn into something special, Sean Muuray, Rod Thomas etc.. like, so on balance think we would be mad not to do this even it does include the snake compensation.

Wish the lad well being the shining star in hopefully an awful season for Everton.

    Mixed feelings.

£50 million is bloody brilliant business and part of me feels he wasn’t tired, he just wasn’t that good.

Other half is wary he may have been tired and that no money can replace seeing a potential Brazilian international superstar develop at Watford.

How good this deal is also depends on how we spend the money.

One thing is for sure though, I trust Gino and for him to do business with a club and manager he really dislikes then he really must be sure this is the right thing to do.

    Onwards and upwards.

It is hard to decline I agree, especially for someone who played well for three months and whose form then tailed off.
He may develop into a top player,he may not, but as long as we spend wisely in certain positions I frankly don't care!

At £50mil we are laughing all the way to the bank.

I really rate Richarlison and was hoping to watch him develop into the player he is capable of becoming over the next season or two. However as mentioned, he does throw his toys out the pram a lot, especially when subbed. Silva will use him every game but yet again this is a scenario that will not end well for Everton, just like Silva. This is clearly Silva putting his parts on because every other target Everton have had has rejected them, called them mid table and chosen to go elsewhere. Signing Richarlison is just to keep him happy. When Silva is inevitably sacked or joins an actual big club, they will be left with a player who doesn’t want to be there, stops trying and becomes a shadow of his former self.

I do feel sorry for their fans

Like hell I do. They deserve everything bad that is coming their way. Take the money Gino before they realize this is a bad deal for them.

I wonder where the money from this goes (provided it does).

Even with Richarlison going I still think we have sufficient depth on the wings. We have hundreds of midfielders and centre backs.

Surely now we can be in for a genuinely good striker and centre back with this amount of money.

£35m would be disappointing if the targets aren't met. I'm sure euro qualification would be part of that. We wouldn't be able to spend the variable element so limits the sum that can be reinvested.

£50m is fantastic business for a player we all have doubts about. He could be really good but he could also just be another Ighalo. A bird in the hand and all that.

Will be interesting to see where Richarlison ends up in 12 months time when Everton work out that Ssssslither is a fraud and sack him.

I'm disappointed we haven't told Everton and Sssssslither to go and f**k themselves but for £50m he is hideously overpriced! As others have said, we are more than well stocked up now on both wings (Success, Penaranda, Serma, Lukebakio, Deulofeu & Pereyra), we literally don't require his services anymore and IF we re-invest wisely in buying a top quality striker and centre back then this will prove to be too good a deal to turn down!

What kind of reception will he receive from us when he comes back?

£35m is still a sum not to be sniffed at for a player who is nowhere near the finished article, and may, or may not,
    achieve his potential.

We are not owned by mega rich people and provided this money is reinvested properly, and not wasted in Gray like signings, we will be stronger as a squad.

Richarlison obviously has a very strong personal relationship with the Snake and he will never give his all for us (even if only subconsciously) when he wants to be elsewhere with his mentor.

This is in my opinion is a good deal for us, providing we keep hold of Doucouré who is a much more important player for us.

Barely1egal has pointed out over on Reddit that Jim White gave the figure as £50m when first tweeting about it (2 hours after it broke, but whatevs...) and considering his status as Moshiri's mouthpiece, you can pretty much take that as gospel.

Doesn’t £35 million make him one of the most expensive Premier League to Premier League sales ever? That’s bonkers ain’t it really?

Let’s not kid ourselves. For the first 8 matches or so of last season, when snake still seemed to be content on managing us, we thought we had our own Alexis Sanchez on our hands. Frightening defenders, great in the air, assisting and scoring for fun, he looked the dogs nuts. Yes he when snake had his upper body half turned he turned to down right bang average but still looked threatening. He’s only a youngster whose still coming to terms with English football, and he certainly settled well at first and he most certainly has it in him to become a top quality player.

Having said all that, if it’s for the price being suggested, then sell him. If it means we get a high quality centre half and striker with the money. £15-18m for both, the rest for their wages, then I consider it good business. It’ll be a shame there’s a chance we won’t see his best years with us but we all knew that anyway. To see him leave after one year would be disappointing. But as others have said, there’s a big chance he won’t develop into what he could become. He may be stroppy, he may be petulant, but when he was on form from August to October he was so good to watch. If he does go I wish him enough success to get him out of Everton to a club with European pedigree, but I like to think he’d never get a bad reception back at the Vic.

Having said this, I reckon he’ll be playing for us come August.

LOL 50 million, if the Pozzos pull that off then that will be their biggest achievement yet.

Can we wrap this up soon before Everton realise their mistake? Might be able to get a competent striker in as well with the spare cash lying around!

First Silva tantrum must be due soon to as well?

Personally would be pretty surprised if they use the cash to get a CB and a striker. I think they'll go for one or the other, and for me it's more likely to be a striker given the need.

The only reason CB may be a bit more likely is that we have two strikers we would struggle to sell sitting on high wages, whereas most of our CBs are on significantly lower wages so it may be easier to shift them on.

Just been watching back some highlights from early last season. God he was good back then. If he rediscovered that form for Silva then he will be a good investment for them. Good deal all round as long as we use the funds sensibly.

  32. Burnsy

Be disappointed to see him go as think he has a genuine chance of becoming a great player if he can find a way to fulfil his promise.

However...as many have said, he could score 25 goals next season and win PFA Young POTS, and we still wouldn't be getting bids topping £50m. We'd be utterly insane to turn this down. Can't see how Richarlison will settle in Liverpool mind you...the guy had enough trouble in London initially.

But this money MUST be reinvested in key areas in the team. And not with 15 players who all cost £3m over the next 12 months. I'm talking a £25m striker and a £15m-£20m Centre-Back. If this money is wasted or sits gathering dust in Gino's bank account, then we may as well keep him or sell him for peanuts.

So Gray 31 games 5 goals = £18 million, Richarlison 32 games 5 goals = £11.5 million. So maybe our recruitment of strikers is not as flawed as suggested. The latter now attracting bids of £50 million? The world has gone mad. Did Richarlison save us from relegation or were other players (Doucoure, Cleverley, etc) more significant contributors across the campaign? While Watford were upset with slither and Everton, at the end of the day they are driven by the business plan. Trade players but safeguard Premier League status. If the fee is anything like the reports, Surely that must represent a big part of Everton's budget for the year, and is a bit of a vanity buy to feed Slithers demands. We need to invest in a squad that can build on last season. So I don't see this fee changing the range of specific players we are looking to bring in.

  34. All joking aside, I think Zaha would be the better signing for Everton.

If they have ideas about being a big club they need a player who can deliver with consistency from the first game. Richarlison has potential but isn't consistent. Zaha is much nearer the finished article.

I'm surprised to find that despite everything that's gone on with Everton, I still have a little bit of pity for them.

They're going to repeat exactly what they did last season, aren't they? Pish away vast amounts of money on players that can't quite cut it. Let's remind ourselves:-

£28.5 million for Keane from Burnley. We saw how much Burnley missed him. Complete flop at Everton.
£27.5 million for Klaasen from Ajax. Absolutely stank. An expensive embarrassment. Barely got a game.
£28.5 million for absurd, puff-chested, military-combed, relegation regular and world cup flapper Jordan Pickwick.
£22.5 million for lumbering neanderthal thug forward Tonk Cussem (sp?). A player for whom the term 'battering ram' is a mild understatement. His major (only) contribution to the game the last time we saw him was obliterating the skilful Deulofeu and putting him out for the rest of the season. Makes Andy Carrol look like Pele. An anti-footballer.
£Megawages for lock-up-your-granny, spud-headed, fatboy Rooney. A tragic, past-his-sell-by-date, parody of a player. Now he's gone he says he didn't want to be a dead weight on them. Too late my old sponge and custard. You already spent a season doing that.

I'm quite confident that Richarlison, if he goes, will be another addition to this sad catalogue of failure and wasted millions for them. Yes he's quite young, but so is Mbappe and it doesn't seem to affect him too much. He hasn't got the cool head in front of goal that a deadly striker has and that (for me) can't be taught, it's something that comes naturally. He's greedy and doesn't appear to see his team mates as soon as he gets within 30 yards of goal. It's a blaze for glory every single time. He's got a tendency to throw himself around at the slightest touch and gobs off way, way too much. I think the purple patch of a dozen or so games when he first came was simply because he was unknown, in the same way as Odion Ighalo was at first. There's no video of him to show to the opposition. No pattern of play for them to point out and plan against. But after a few games, when a little bank of such material is built up, the player is found out and neutralised. Some are good enough to vary things up and make things much more difficult for the defenders. Others are one dimensional and can do nothing - that was Ighalo and that is Richarlison.

Everton have flirted with relegation for a few seasons. With these hopeless over-priced signings and the damage from the malign self-interest of fork-tongued Sssilva, I reckon they might be surprise candidates to go down either this season or next. And once they do, they're sure to go the way of Sunderland and Villa....
