There are some cracking TOTPs we don’t get to see anymore either.

Easily the best thread for me was ‘Oliver Grove/Highgrades 215y/o grandad’. Never has someone been caught out so deliciously and then made out they were a rogue opposition fan just to escape the lie. And then offered everyone a fight somewhere behind Selhurst Park.

Those two things aren’t the same. A Glitter Band tour would generate money for the perpetrator. Repeating TOTP doesn’t enrich Savile’s estate (I presume). I disagree with the BBC’s decision to censor the latter. People know what happened, and should be treated as adults able to make their own judgements.

Still, we are getting away from the topic of the thread.

Understandably many people feel queasy about enjoying the work of such people. It was pointed out in a very mild way.

I just think it should be a matter of choice, not compulsion.

Anyway, back to Hogg 2 Villa.

Didn't there used to be an enforced rule that the transfer section was joke-free, because some people use this site for purely for transfer updates? Perhaps time to go back to that? Then the rest of the forum is free for all your cheese-based needs.

Not so. Gary Glitter wasn't part of the Glitter Band who had their own run of hits. Do you know nothing about mid 70's pop music ? :)

Yes, I do. And the thought had occurred to me when you made the comment. So - there is in fact no issue with a Glitter Band comeback at all.

...other than that they will forever be tarred with the name and people will put 2 and 2 together and get 5 as you did. They could of course change their name to Milli Vanilli or Boney M and get a clean slate ? I bought a couple of their singles in 1974, the first year I discovered pop music...

Perhaps they could call themselves The Glitter-less Band.

I sat a few rows behind Jimmy Carr on a Norwegian Air flight to Stockholm earlier this month.

It seems he's not too flash to sit in budget airline cabins, despite his millions of tax pounds.

I flew back from Montreal in the same plane as Jimmy Carr a few years ago.

He wasn’t in economy that time.

For my benefit can you repeat your sons joke to test if I would laugh.

I will then imagine my son telling the same joke to test the theory that dads laugh at their sons lame jokes only because it’s their son.

Considering most of the 'informed' stuff comes from social media, your comments are the equivalent of moaning about the newspapers for only reporting what happened yesterday.

Yes, I remember those halcyon days when someone would wail ‘WE NEED A STRIKER’ and someone else would write ‘yes we need a STRIKER, why can’t Gino see we NEED A STRIKER’ and someone else would add helpfully ‘how about Ronaldo, is he homegrown?’ And so forth.

    Good times.
