We can probably get a couple of loans at outrageous cost. But I agree perm signings are difficult. We need to freshen it up though
Shocking performance from each and every outfield player today. We look like a mid-table Championship team. I thought Silva had a magic touch but there’s absolutely no evidence of it.
The mighty Jack Rodwell would sign if we have him 70k per week. Joking aside a loan for him would be surely better than Watson.
The quality and confidence of the players is low and I don’t think Silva is helping or knows what to do. I wonder if not signing players part a Gino ploy to force Silva out.
There are three big issues at the club. 1. Injury crisis. Glad the club have appointed a new head of medical but it has come a bit to late. Add Wague's injury into the mix, and the absences of Holebas, Gomes and Cleverly, and it is clear to see we are in dire need of some reinforcements. 2. Lack of Signings. I believe Silva is a good manager but he hasn't been backed at all. Hopefully the ever growing injury list could change that. 3. Silva's commitment. He put a doubt in the mind of all the players and fans alike and that has impacted the performances on the pitch. Do I think he should go? No. Does he need backing with some signings? Absolutely. Never expected anything from today. Just glad no one got sent off. COYH!
As most of you probably know, I’m not a wind up merchant..... But I thought you looked pretty bad today. When you went two up front I thought you looked more threatening but the midfield went to bits. Looks more like a frustrated, poorly coached team than a group of bad players. Deeney up front looks like a giant handbrake, so static and looked far more interested in kicking people than leading the line. You won’t go down.
I agree it is most odd. Clearly a game of possum going on,partly played out in the media. Not overly reassuring from the terraces. Friends at the game are saying the performance was better than against Swansea and Saints. However they did qualify that by saying that there wasn't a lot needed to better those two!
11 points and 11 defeats from the last 16 games. Today was always going to be a loss, even though I plenty of stick for saying that before the match, it was obvious to me that would be the case. I'm actually quite surprised it was not a thrashing, so you can see they've not totally thrown in the towel, but there's not enough quality in that side to turn this around. I'll keep saying it, unless there's a big change, be it coach, new incoming players or returning injured players, then nothing will change. Current form is not going to improve and we are so close to the drop zone now. With 14 games left to play, we do not have the quality to keep our head above water. Stoke won today, so the new manager bounce has worked for them. They must be delighted to see it's us up next for them. We are a tonic for any opponent. There is 11 days before we play them. It's vital we act now. Sign some quality players or change the coach. Something HAS to be done, we cannot ride this one out. I noticed Slimani was not in their squad today, so maybe that's a sign he's signing for us? I'll take any crumb of comfort right now.
I thought we looked ok today. Gave 100% and not far away from equaliser. Just lacked a little bit of quality upfront
We are in a dreadful mess. A head coach that doesn't want to be here, key players injured with no return on the horizon, other important players exhausted because they've had no rest over the festive season, a board that's indicated there isn't likely to be many signings, confidence that has completely evaporated. We can still just about stay up if we either sack Silva or give him 2-3 new players that can play regularly. If we don't do either of those, I can't see any way we won't go down. There are some rubbish teams below us, so a small upturn in form might keep us up, but at the moment, we are the most rubbish of all the teams.
Just out of interest.... A.) Portugal isn’t in the Mediterranean. B.) Why would it be a point even if it was?
No you absolutely didn't. What actually happened was that a couple of people, myself included, asked you to name the seven players in our starting eleven who you believed were Championship players, something that you have not yet done btw.
Baffled... Crying out for more width all game. Send the wide players down the line to put crosses in against an average Leicester defence. Brief positive period when Gray came on and Janmaat started to push forward. Quickly killed by bringing on a third striker.
26 points from 24. I reckon we will lose the 5 games against the top 6 teams. From the other 9 at present, at best I would guess W2 D3 L4 so ending on 35 points unless something dramatic changes ie new coach or a couple of stellar signings. I can't believe we will stay out of the bottom 3 with 35 points.
Silva needs to take a leaf out of QSF book and set up defensively for the next 14 games. Fouteen nil/nils and 14 points should be enough
First game I haven't been to, listened to on the radio or watched on a stream for years because I knew it would be dire and I didn't want to be in a foul mood all evening I'm taking my good mood off out for a curry and beers...
We were not terrible today but there were too many times when we gave the ball away with poor passes. We played great football when the squad was fit, Silva needs to realise the current players cannot play the same was and change the tactics to suit the available players. With a full squad you would not have Watson starting or on the bench, but he is the best option we have at the moment. He does not waste much in open play and does a good solid job in the DM position. But he is not creative and his delivery from free kicks etc is not good enough, he should not have the job of taking free kicks.
Dare I stick up for HB1 here but he did say on a thread - don't know which - that he believed Leicester would beat us and was almost a given. He can be antagonistic in his views but I can't let it be claimed that he didn't say it and another game of 'attack HB1' play out.
