Get the spinning top out. If it doesn't stop spinning there is a 60/40 chance you're dreaming.

As an aside: Chadli is a quality player - hope Doucoure can keep him out the game. I think temperament is going to be huge here, if the petty Watford turn up it's going to be lots of freekicks against, that will eventually lead to a goal. You know fair well Pulis will try and target a few players (Holebas, Okaka if he plays).

It's just lovely to see everyone talking football on a match thread. xxx

I'm going for 1-1 in my Super 6.

Okaka was dreadful at the Hawthorns, got completely bullied by their back four. Mind you, so did Deeney. Hopefully whoever plays up top, we'll try to keep the ball on the floor a bit more as we won't trouble them with long balls.

Until just now, I'd forgotten that scumbag James McClean's behaviour in the Pereyra red card incident. Horrible player, horrible attitude, horrible face. If he plays, I'm sure he'll steam into one of the younger flair players like Niang or Success to try to get a reaction.

You are right there, Pulis and the wiley old players they have know exactly how to break up play and wind up opposition players without drawing too much ref attention.
No idea how it’ll go tonight, we pretty much know what West Brom will turn up but can never tell which Watford will turn up!
If I remember correctly we haven’t often followed up a good result with another.
I’d be amazed if Okaka started again so soon after Sat after his fitness issues this season, I suspect he’ll leave Amrabat out with Janmaat in his place and Cathcart RB again but I am thinking this could be a surprise start for Success.

A point would be great from this but I think it’ll be a painful 1-0 loss in a dull uneventful match which no one other than the fans of each club will pay any attention to.

Funny how the forum flows nicely once certain posters aren't around, eh?

Anyway, back to the game - ITKJim probably nailed the starting line up tonight, would like to see Holebas dropped but we don't really have anyone else to play there.

does anyone know the odds of betting that one of our players goes off injured with a hamstring injury before the end of the 1st half?

I really hope we win I hate West Brom and Tony Pulis although I agree with a lot of other posters that a draw would not be a bad result tonight. West Brom have had a good season and are sitting high in the table however I think they are there for the taking if players such as Amrabat, Success and Niang get at their backline as the Baggies centre backs are slow. They will be a threat from set pieces as always but if we can stop that then we have a good opportunity to pick up the three points.

    Recently Arsenal then Burnley.

I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped Niang - he looked exhausted on Saturday.

What are the chances of Britos getting another ? It seems a strange but regular thing to happen to defenders, get one get another quite quickly.

I'm going for a wild but unexpected 4-3. Goals from Britos, Capoue, Cleverley and Janmaat

The stats show that in 2017 WBA have won at home five times but not managed a win among their 5 away games to date (their last away win was at Southampton 31 December 2016), and while they have scored 12 goals at home, they have managed just three away from the Hawthorns. They went 4-3-3 at Everton and conceded three goals so i expect they will go back to their normal away formation of 4-2-3-1 and expect not to concede. Much will depend on our defending of set plays. I think a draw is most likely, but this could be a hard fought for point.

Spot on. Niang or Amrabat are in for a kicking, and they'll share the fouls around. Hope Deeney is alerting the guys to not react because I don't have any confidence that our management team will.

I'm not certain but I think they more regularly play 3 at the back and fill the midfield..

He looked great until that mazy long run that beat half their team. But that was it. He was done after that! As was said on the match thread, he literally stopped on the halfway line and kept out of the action for a good 5 minutes after that.

    Was a cracking run though!

Beat West Brom and it's quite clear that Mazarri will have reached legend status at our club.

Nice line up, Amrabat Deeney Niang will be good. Would've liked to see Janmaat instead of Cathcart but it'll do.

Who on earth is Pereria though?! Pozzo loophole to register our number 37?

Excellent performance all round. They ran themselves into the ground - most especially Niang, Deeney, Capoue and Doucoure.

Sending off was very harsh indeed.

Gomes was monumental in goal. Good job that spill went to one of ours though!

What does it say about the standard of the premier league when a team like us are ninth and a couple of places below Arsenal and Man Utd. We've probably played well about 3 times this season. Good win though and that's safety in the bag.

I am thoroughly entertained by that, from Mazzarri having a shouting match with the goalkeeping coach to the (harsh I thought) red card - it was nervous at times but you couldn't really look away :drinking:

Even if we didn't win, I would be very happy coming away with that performance. That was the sort of performance that I think we all wanted to see in the premier league; great passion from the boys.

    COYH!

PS; Doucoure, what a player he's turning out to be!

See you in the Premier League again next season. 3 seasons in the top flight in a row is nosebleed territory for me, as I was a bit too young to remember the 80's spell.

    Great result, Pretty good performance

Shame most of our matches seem so bad natured and our discipline on field really is pretty poor - but not the End of the world

What on earth was going on, on our bench though ?

Didn't see it all, but what saw on a river was light years ahead of the dross served up over recent months, mainly blood and guts and willing to run themselves into the ground for the shirt. Including Wally and his wobbly. Much much better.

I didn't go tonight as I couldn't get back from work in time, but wish I had now.

That was our best showing of the season in my view. Man Utd, arsenal and Everton were all good but I think that man for man tonight everyone who was called upon have everything and we defended better than we have all season.

I've been critical of wally, but he can be as crazy as he likes on the bench if we play with as much guts and heart as I saw tonight. Thoroughly enjoyable game.

    Never a red card.
Mapps - did he ever leave? Came on after zero minutes of football and was top drawer.

Doucoure is key to everything. He gives the rest of our midfield the space to push on and create. Behrami can't do that. He hasn't got the legs.

    Cleverley also superb once again.

Niang and Deeney made and scored a goal each. Even villainous Holebas busted a gut for the cause tonight.

Great night. And we're safe. Aren't we?

That was an odd game. My stream went down for 20 minutes just as they were replaying deeneys goal. Can't say wba deserved anything. A negative dirty anti football side with some *****s in the team. We did well and its worth noting the defence passed the ball about quite nicely.

Left the computer on after it finished and had troy preparing for a post match interview, the kind of thing that did for Ron Atkinson and Andy Gray. The pundit was telling troy he was 4th in the all time goalscorer list and troy was asking about records.
