For anyone complaining that we'll have no players next season... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22703158
I'd love it, LOVE IT if the only way we can sign players is by using this loophole, because the league got their dates wrong.
Does anyone know where they keep getting this number of 14 professionals from? I've counted several times and I'm pretty sure we would have 25 in that worst case scenario.
I'm not sure on this but would they count players out of contract as leaving as well as the loan players? Also, as for the extension of the window opening, I thought the terms of the embargo was until the window "closed" so I'm not really sure on the fact the extra 2 days will effect us.
Presumably though, if losing them would put us in such a hole, we'd just sign the players nearing the end of their contract to a short term contract to cover ourselves. So much poor reporting on this issue I'm really confused.
From what I remember, it was worded as "closed" then with "expected to be 31st August" I could be completely wrong.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22703158?SThisEM Think this gives us a bit of insight into the embargo aswell.
I still think its guesswork by journalists. However it makes a fair point about the embargo ending on 31st Aug but the window shutting on 2nd Sept this year. Could well leave us the gap we need to sign players as most are a formality coming from sister clubs.
We are going to have a VERY BUSY transfer window closing day this year, though I'm sure all the paperwork will already be done and ready to register first thing on Monday 2nd September 2013!!! What a joke this means the embargo is not worth the paper it is written on, isn't that just typical of the Football League :happy1::happy1::happy1:
Well all the players that we need from our sister clubs have been earmarked and probably whether we were promoted or not. I expect the Pozzo family will also provide funds for Zola to purchase one or two players in addition to these and if necessary more funds in January should extra impetus or cover be required. The financial sums are quite simple. The PL is far more lucrative and no doubt a priority for the Pozzo family to get into whilst of course maintaining Udinese and Granada as competitive and successful sides in their own respective leagues.
"There could also be an opportunity for Watford to sign players on 2 September, as the transfer window's usual closing date of 31 August falls on a Saturday and is therefore likely to be the following Monday." Bad luck clueless fans. Embargo is irrelevant
I'm afraid yet again a journalist gets something wrong. Wording of the judgement: And that's a matter of public record and fact that took me 2 minutes on google to check. :dismay:
Was litteraly about to post this, its on the football leagues home news page, litteraly would have taken a journalist all of 60 seconds
It doesn't matter anyway. Loan window opens soon after the embargo ends. Everyone knows how good we are with that......
I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong but I was under the impression the the so called embargo or what ever it is was not imposed by the Football League but by an independent tribunal, so without seeing their report who is to say the FL website is correct
Also what I want to know is if any of the Pozzo owned loaned players were on agreement of a loan to perm deal? If so then that agreement may have been made before the embargo was declared which may mean that those already here on loan this year maybe unaffected in their signing on a perm deal as the deal was already struck prior. Anyone confirm?
I believe the agreement was in place for ALL, but definitely the last 5 that came in which included Ekstrand, Battochio & Forestieri, who obviously wanted that option.
Sounds like Chalobah won't be coming back...a lot of past tense going on here http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130529-chalobah-season-review-839617.aspx
Will be very interesting to see where Chalobah ends up next season. Can't imagine he will get anywhere near as much game time if he heads out on loan again with a premier league club or have such a close relationship with the manager. Zola has done wonders with him and a little part of me will cry if his career stalls because of poor coaching or limited opportunities because of the premier league's demands for instant success. Destined to become a Yaya Toure type of player if he fills out a bit and there's plenty of chance of that being only 18.
