...can be heard here. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/10833122._/ Seems like the players are not listening to instructions.......and even Barcelona would have struggled to beat Bolton had they used the tactics we did!!
Surely it is up to the Captain to enforce the Managers game plan? Who is the Captain? Almunia, Why?, How can he instruct the team while in goal. Since Eustace left we have no leader on the pitch to enforce direction.
I felt that aswell. He sees it as we are, but team aren't carrying out instructions, that could be a problem with discipline then!
I have to admit that GFZ's post match comments made me raise my eyebrows a bit. A manager coming out in public and saying the players aren't doing what he tells them only makes him look ineffective. Simply put, it gives the impression that he doesn't have the squad's respect since they're not obeying his tactical instructions. Public appearance is very important, and saying "my team doesn't listen to me" makes you look like a poor leader. I have no doubt there is much more to it than the soundbite, but in the public eye perception is everything. Any rival manager who reads that will think we're there for the taking right now. I also find it hard to believe that Barca wouldn't have breached Bolton's defense. We're most definitely not Barca, but come on...saying Barca couldn't have coped with Bolton's back line is a bridge too far. Bolton's defense were far from perfect yesterday, and made a number of mistakes in the opening stages.
The Barca quote was clearly an example of how bad Watford's approach was, that even a top side would struggle creating chances doing it the way they tried. But he is speaking as if he is a third party or a pundit that's analysing our performance rather than the manager, which is a little surprising. Although he is being incredibly honest, which I appreciate as a fan.
I completely missed it, but who did take over the captains' armband when he went off? Nosworthy would have been the ideal candidate but he then went off soon after.
How much of Zolas chosen tactics do you think are his own? Are they dictated in any way? Maybe the team choice as well?
Exactly, a poor excuse/reasoning. I had a slight glimmer of hope after his press conference with 3CR after the Middlesbrough game as you could genuinely tell he was gutted and angry with the players and the forever reoccurring individual mistakes, but not this time.
