The press have moaned about how many players that we have on loan so it will be interesting to see what they say about Zaha. I don’t think this should be allowed, you should not be able to buy a player and then loan him back to the same club. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21195116
I suppose it just puts off for six months or so the time when he spends every Saturday (or Sunday/Monday due to Sky) sitting on the bench. Five and a half year deal eh? Sold to someone like Sunderland or Galatasaray in 2015 for 1.5 million after making 11 starts for Man Ure and scoring 1 goal.
I think the loan system needs a shake up as there are far too many players on loan in general. I know we are benefitting from loans at the moment, but that does not change the fact I am against it in its current form. I understand loans for a player you have developed from youth level to get first team experience at a lower level than your 1st team plays as part of their development. I also understand short term loans for a player returning from an injury to get their match fitness up, all the rest I see as manipulation of the system. Either ManU want him or they don’t? – What is his new ManU wage and are CP paying it all ? I know there are lots of different opinions on the loan system but I think there is currently more wrong with it than right. A few changes to the rules would make a big difference. For example, you can only be loaned to a team in a lower division and that the receiving team has to pay all of the wages.
Shame the board at the time when we sold Ashley Young didn't have the foresight to make sure he was loaned back to us for the rest of the season. Might have made all the difference in staying in the Premiership that season!
The difference is that United are a top team signing Zaha as a promising player still in need for development while Villa signed Young because they needed a first choice winger.
This sort of deal is a good move all round. Top team secures up and coming talent with less development cost and in a shroter space of time. Lower team secures the players services for an extended period of time, possibly at a reduced or no wage and gets the transfer kitty to start developing the next up and coming star. Player get's his big pay cheque whilst regularly playing and developing far quicker than if he was bench sitting.
It wouldn't surprise me if he was loaned out next season to another Premiership club..particulary if Palace go up!
So glad that he has finally gone, the media trying to make a will he/won't he was becoming rather tedious. I bet his performance's will improve now he has gone.
£10m up front? That seems like quite a lot. I know Holloway did his usual "best player I've seen" (like Charlie Adam) routine but I don't think any Championship player is worth that much outright.
I suppose, but technically he's a Serie A player. He's only in the Championship by virtue of our owners and not for any other reason.
Didn't they have a similar thing with Van Nistelrooy? They paid a lot of money, he got injured and then they just waited for him to recover before completing the signing. Same thing would happen with Zaha.
True. We're owned by Udinese and have a team full of loanees. We might win the odd game, but all the loanees could go back tomorrow and then we'd be ****. You should post on some of the other Championship forums.
Technically Zaha is a premiership player. Vydra has only ever played two games in serie A, you can't call him a serie A player. I think it's a bit strong to say no championship player is worth 10 million. Zaha probabyl won't be worth ten million and Man Utd know this, he might end up being **** and worth about £5, they will take a £5 mill loss. Or he could end up improving further and being a £20-£30 million player. At 20yo players are an investment, in the chance they go on to be world beaters.
I think they chose the wrong player. Cedric Bolasie might have been a better investment. When we go up I'd like to see us sign Sam Byram. Aside from a couple of passing errors was excellent for Leeds.
They are English and young and have some potential. Cue agents frothing at the mouth and clubs desperate to build a core of British players into their teams paying over the odds. Remember Fabien Delph ? The next great hope of English football or indeed Connor Wickham. Those stories have turned out well so far.....
He's not average! Average players are the likes Darius Henderson. Zaha is a great talent and should only improve under the tuition of Man Utd. To call him average is just lazy.
Time will tell nascot. Yes he has provided some tasty bits of skill but it will be another step up in the PL. I do think Manchester United have overpaid but they are seeking to build a British core to their team and it is something Ferguson has always tried to do with signing Smalling and Nick Powell the other summer.
Technically Vydra is a Serie A player and that's two more games than Zaha has played in the Premiership?
