Same back four with Dawson coming in for King if not fit, and probably James in goal. __________________ How do you think we should try and retrieve the mess we are in!!!

I think Hesky had a decent match against the US and tracked back well to defend when required last night. Both he and Rooney suffer from a lack of service. Saying that I don't think we have room for him in my formation. Lampard has under performed for too long so would get the chop, although would probably come on later. Carrick will sit in front of the back 4 Gerrard will push on when he can. If Rooney performs in the first 45 minutes like he did last night bring Defoe on at half time.

Like this. Only concern is i don't rate Upson to highly. However need must all that. The key to this is that with 3 centre backs and Barry holding the goalscorers/creaters can get forward without having to worry to much about there defensive duties.

Yeah, that's an option, but purely on the basis we have won 6/6 with the Terry/Upson partnership, I would go with that.

If Heskey starts or Gerrard is played on the left, then I'll go absolutely mad!!!:rant: We need to win this match, to do that we need to break down a slovenian team who will most likely have 11 men behind the ball when we attack. Heskey can't score, and Gerrard is a far greater attacking threat when not played on the wing.
Remember that Sven was going to play Gerrard behind as a support striker, at the last world cup, after Owen suffered his injury and Rooney sent off, and he was slated for it now its a good idea ! ? !
