The poor relation of the Olympics but with plenty of star attractions competing in various disciplines. I shall keep an eye on the Rugby Sevens tournament which should be rather exciting with Fiji, Kenya, Tonga all very decent and Canada pretty handy as well.

Anyone going ? Or is anyone really interested ? An out of date sporting event or something to celebrate ?

It's tin pot, like the capital one cup.

The only good thing about it is hearing the tub-thumping commentators try their hardest to whip up a bit of patriotic fervour over the bronze medal won by some English fella behind a Tongan and a lad from the Isle of Man.

Should do the double then with the Brownlee boys.

Scots have their chance for medals in the pool.

Spot on Alistair the Gold and Johnny the Silver :jumping1:

Apparently there is a mixed Triathlon relay at the week end, and the expected England team is the Brownlee Boys plus the girls that won Gold & Bronze for England this morning. Therefore barring a disaster I would think England are nailed on for another Triathlon Gold :]]

Is Alistair Brownlee the best athlete in the country ?

I've changed my view on the Games, somewhat. I was wondering about the point of having a world wide competition without the best in the world competing. But just looking at the passion and effort those sportspeople put into it, it is heartwarming and overwhelming and it gives a great opportunity for many, just on the fringe of the GB team, to compete for their country. It's been brilliant.

And the smile on that little 13 year old Scottish girls face, when she realised she had won a bronze, was simply wonderful.

TBF In the swimming our folks have been beating some top swimmers from Australia and South African and cycling is usually us v the Aussies/Kiwis.

I guess its not quite the same for other sports but still as ZZtop it gives some people who don't get a lot of coverage their moment in the sun.

It's been a phenomenal Games for the Home Nations. Really dominated in the gymnastics. It will be interesting to see how the HN will go on the European stage soon and the World's as the competition will be a lot stronger. What I've noticed most is how many youngsters are coming through. A delight to watch.

Great to see some young talent coming through in a lot of sports particularly swimming and gymnastics. Encouraging too to see some English girl sprinters

Just flicking around and saw the last bit of the netball - we were 3 ahead but managed to lose with 3 seconds to go.

    Think I've seen that before..
