Why do that? Thought they were 4 nil up, unless done so that he misses next game which is a dead rubber and then fine for knockout stages?

Nail on the head in my opinion. Clever Jose if that's the case.

Think it is, and a couple other players did it too

Ramos got sent off too. Was he near the automatic suspension?

Both Ramos and Alonso are now suspended for the next match but then cleared of any points for the knock-out stages.

The two reds were so blantantly obviously to avoid suspensions in the knock-out and so deliberate. I think it is a disgrace and they should be punished with disrespecting the game and given additional suspension.

Exactly..Beckham did such a thing for an England game a few years back

Beckham was stupid enough to say in the interview after the game that is what he was doing though.

If I remember correctly he knew he had hurt his ribs and would be out of the next game anyway so decided to pick up a yellow card just before he was subbed.

UEFA are apparently investigating Real Madrid.

Just saw these again on SSN, Mourinho claims that they didn't want to be sent off but there is evidence that Dudek went behind the goal and got Casillas to get them to delay.

If they get away with it, great management but I have a feeling UEFA will extend these bans though what evidence they have is patchy at best and Jose will claim otherwise of course!

Very clever and within the rules so don't think it's fair to penalise them for it. The rules need revising though.

Surely this counts as 'managing the game'..!

You're forgetting the catch-all rule, "bringing the game into disrepute". UEFA could easily ban all concerned under that for this farce.

UEFA should have a serious look at everything they do, that's such a vague rule they need to make more of their rules black and white and they need video refs!!! The man u game last night absolutely proved that two extra 4th/5th officials are useless!!!

That's the point of it otherwise it wouldn't be a catch-all :forehead: You can't legislate for every possible incident.

Why not? As has been mentioned this isn't a stand-alone incident, it has hapenned before? So when that happens legislate for it, surely!?

I don't see what the problem is.

If he wants his players to get themselves sent off, that is his prerogative. Its just clever management. They still met all the criteria for being sent off.

It is clever management, but its still just wrong.

The rules arent if you want to break this rule you will get a yellow card, and that rule a penalty.

the rules are you arent allowed to do this, and a yellow card is the punishment. It's like the attitude they have in parts of europe where diving and conning the ref is looked at as acceptable.

UEFA has notified Real Madrid that disciplinary cases have been opened following the Ajax-Real Madrid match held in Amsterdam.

Jose M been banned for 2 Champions League games..
