I like the use of space, especially the combined toilet, sink and water fountain.

There's a world of difference in the level of seriousness of each crime. As far as I understand it the main reason why Hamza was never tried in the UK for the more serious crimes is due to the fact that intelligence agencies would have to reveal details about personnel and practices which would undermine national security to get a conviction.

McKinnen will probably be assessed as no threat then employed at the pentagon.

I think we have to trust our US chums on these cases, we have denied extraditions to them whereas they have allowed every single one we have requested.

They have more people in prison per head than Saudi Arabia. Why should we trust their legal system?

Sorry Fitz, you're the only good one. And Son of Ben. and Luke's inlaws.

Got to have some sort of free workforce to enable their manufacturing industry to compete with the far east.

From social problems, political problems, economic problems, educational problems, environmental problems, we have loads of issues, but every place does, am I right? I love my country, and there are loads of people like me and Ben and Luke's in-laws here. I am truly grateful and happy to be an American. Especially a Californian. It's pretty ****ing great!

Agreed. Hope you've not taken any of this as anti US as certainly it was not intended. You can have Mr Hamza free of charge as far as I'm concerned.

I don't take it personally...at all... I grew fairly thick skin about it having been the only American among thousands of Japanese during my time there. Anytime Bush Sr did anything stupid, I had to pay the price in Tokyo. The toughest time was when a 17 year old Japanese exchange student was shot to death on the doorstep of a man's house in Louisiana who was not charged with any crime. Much like this current Trayvon Martin case. Everyone I met wanted to ask me about it.

Anyway, I am interested to see what sort of trial Hamza gets.

I only mean it tongue in cheek Fitz, but I do seriously think the US' prison numbers indicate serious social problems.

You've never apologised for Will Ferrell though.

Working in the school system, I can vouch for some serious social problems. Certainly in Houston, anyway. I can't speak for the rest of the states. I'd say most of my days teaching are spent with the next generation of prison dwellers. I've lost count of the number of twelve year old's busted for dealing prescription drugs. Nor the mother of 6 kids who showed up to a parent-teacher conference in her work clothes - the job being a stripper. Not the expensive kind. Some of the kids I teach live in absolute poverty, usually with their great-grandparents due to their real parents being locked up. I mean, some of them don't get a meal beside their school lunch. It's really sad to see. Meanwhile, the white middle-class are living the dream.

But as Fitz said so well, there are a lot of great things about living here and personally, I love it. No way will I live in the UK again. The opportunities here are incredible and you truly do feel as though you can achieve anything. The majority of people I've met are lovely and so much friendlier than those back home.

I will not apologise for Ferrell. He was great in the Austin Powers movie where he breaks his legs.

Anyway, no doubt there are loads of problems, Moogy. Despite working hard at equality for 200 years we are still far off the mark, and many problems tumble out as a result. We prefer to punish crime rather than prevent it...for now. We are particularly vindictive these days, but I suspect the pendulum will swing the other way again one of these days.

Doesnt the UK , all things equal , hold more people in Prison than any other developed nation ?

I don't think so. I think England and Wales top the EU, but USA has something like 5 times as many people per hundred thousand of population behind bars. Ahead of Russia, Iran and well, everyone.
