Its been marked as a downside of the russian bid, one of the main stadiums to the other takes 12 hours by high speed train.

Doesn't Blatter have the deciding vote if its a tie.

Be good to have the World Cup from proud footballing nation point of view but if not so be it and we will save a few bob...

I wonder if FIFA will take a dim look at the BBC programme and the trouble at St Andrews last night?

Not that Russian supporters are perfect!

Should Russia be eliminated with 6 votes in the 2nd round, that would leave us and Spain on 8 a piece. If the 6 Russian voters go 3 each way, we have a tie. and Blatter votes for Spain.

You know what, I wouldn't be too upset if we missed out. Especially if Spain/Portugal got it.

I don't know why anyone cares.

We will be shyte as we have no young players coming through, and then we won't get it for another 75 years.

Hmm, what a surprise. England or Spain-Portugual would've been too easy for FIFA and they wouldn't be able to show us all the great stuff they've done for a struggling nation e.g. South Africa.

I can get Russia being chosen. Not my choice, I'd have much rather Spain/Portugal if it wasn't going to be England but I can see the whole 'legacy' thing. Russia needs to modernise on several sporting and non-sporting fronts and the WC may give them that impetus. The USSR did a fair bit in football back in the day and Russia are maybe underachievers and this will give them a kick start. But Qatar? That's beyond ridiculous.

I think it's about time we stopped going in for hosting it. It's just not worth the effort.

Well done the British press (why not leave the shock revelations until after the vote?), well done the Birmingham fans, well done the incorruptible FIFA Executive, and especially well done Qatar, the home of air-conditioned indoor football and global warming specialists.

But at least there won’t be World Cup football at the FranchiseDome.

And as the wise Sepp has said, football isn’t just about winning, it’s about losing too.

this means that qatar will spend billions on lovely stadia that will only be used once!

It's just a case of how much Oil money has changed hands. Is obvious scandal, and I can't see us ever being chosen if not this time when we had by far the superior bid. It's a shame.

Apparently they're going to give the stadiums away to developing countries once WC 2022 is done! A barmy idea. Still, an indoor World Cup. Nice.

More proof as to FIFA's corrupt status, they hate England, just as simple as that.

As Alan Shearer said - if we couldn't get it with this bid, we'll never get it.

    At least I'll always have '66! :tongue1:

FIFA will be hoping the racist abuse is rooted out before 2018..and well Qatar is going to be very hot isn't it?

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinions of course!

In other news, ironically, From Russia with Love is on ITV4 now, I'm going to watch it to cheer me up.

It won't be hot in the stadia, because of the air-conditioning. And apparently FIFA was really impressed with the idea of demolishing the stadia and sending them to the Third World - I wonder if anyone did any lifecycle analysis on that?

Looks like global warming and environemtal sustainability have based FIFA by - but there again, what doesn't, except kickbacks?

I can understand that we didn't win it, but how we 'apparently' came fourth is beyond me. On the plus side at least MK don't get to host World Cup matches
    :forehead:

Seriously, how many fans are really going to travel to Qatar in '22, ridiculous
