    Well done Josh Kerr.
    Almost the perfect last lap.
Being overconfident has a habit of coming back and biting you on the arse.

"We're going to show you the last 200 metres. What was going through your mind?" Kerching
Janette Cliche hits paydirt on the lazy trite-ometer once again.

Forgot to mention yesterday about Matt Hudson-Smith braking Thomas Sch*nlebe's 1987 European record in his men's 400m semi-final. Another of the discredited East German records finally bites the dust.

What would you have asked in the mixed zone where there's 3 minutes at most and you know you're broadcasting to about as broad an audience as sport ever gets?

    How ya feelin'. Great. Yeahhh!!!!

    Or

Can you put into words the emotions you went through when you realised you had won/medalled/failed?

My favourite is: “Just HOW delighted/disappointed are you to win/lose that race/match?” What, on a scale of 1 to 10?

She actually just did a nice interview with her old mate Bianca Williams Probably helps when you're good friends and suitably relaxed.

A former colleague of mine was trying to break into mainstream media and he got a gig on a local radio station (one of the Cambridge ones) to commentate on a Cambrige Utd pre-Season friendly including a post-match interview with the then Cambidge Utd manager (Jez George). He then made a great career-enhancing move by completely forgetting the name of the manager he was interviewing much to the huge annoyance of the said party. As you can imagine, that was the end of his media career. No prep, schoolboy error.

A good sliver for Matt Hudson Smith although he probably will be feeling could have been gold had he not gone out so fast?

Great night for Jamaica - 2 golds, a sliver and 2 bronzes.

More excellent field events which we don't get to see much of but the Mens long jump and Womens' hammer went down to the wire.

Femke Bol makes up for the other night..

Some is probably going to be looking for another job tomorrow and very luck no got hurt.

He really went for it and came so close, but the big one is the Olympics next Year. He also gives us a good chance of getting something in the 4 x 400 m relay.

Excellent night for Jamaica and North America takes all the Women's Hammer medals. Luckily, it was Canada rather than the brash American Team to take Gold.

Tough Qualification for the Mens 800 M and the 5,000 has all the makings of a real tussle.

Didn't realise Jazmin Sawyers was 6ft 4in, an inch taller than Steve Cram.

    VICTORY FOR GREAT BRITAIN!

Wave the union jacks and get a breathless interview with the triumphant victor. What words has our British 1500m champion got for all of us back home?

"Well ah live in 'merica now of course."

He didn't say which part of 'merica. Chile perhaps, or maybe Honduras or Guyana. But I think we can guess.

"Ahm raaat tickled to have won this darn race and ah wanna thank all the folks back home in err...London, England...errr"

The national anthem plays and the proud Union Jack is raised. Every mail reader wipes a tear of pride. Gord bless us one and all! Hurrah! Hurrah!

    Never trust Jamaican sprinters.
I was told that by a man who was married to a Jamaican lady.

Another 2 field events going down to the wire .

Rojas decided to show her best in the end.

Jackson was so dominant in the 200m as was Lyles.

Shame for Hughes to be in 4th.

Is Asher Smith past her best or suffering with injuries?

Like the look of our relays and Keeley H/Gemma in the 800.

    India!!! Really?

Oh dear, the US woman's team are so sloppy according to Michael Johnson. Fnarr, Fnarr.

Took it so complacently. Yuk, Yuk.

Both British teams in the 4 x 400 m relay Final. Definite chance of a medal in both.

Good to see it's not only GB that make a mess of a relay!

Our lady on the last lap had Rapunzel like hair. Can't believe it helped her but she knows best.

I never understand in events which are decided down to the 1/1,000 th of a sec that you would give yourself such a handicap.

    Baffling.
I'd add the false nails that many ladies, athletes or otherwise seem to favour.
Must be difficult to hold the baton in such a tense moment.
    I feel a Kenny W appearing imminently!

    Yes - sorry.

We seem to be better at them now over the past few years.

    Yes encouraging for Paris.

Certainly more so than the hosts of the Olympics will be.

I know it's a global sport but 1 medal for France seemed very disappointing and not sure Germany got any.

Gold within reach but ended with Silver.

Silver within reach but ended with Bronze.

Heading for fourth but grabbed Bronze.

    Almost snatched with Morgan Lake.

A pretty good evening finishing with 10 medals, equalling the best ever medal haul, with numerous PBs, some almost but nearly, and a few underperformances/disappointments. All in all a very good week for British Athletics, a World Championships close to capacity every session, a fantastic atmosphere and fantastic competition. The best World Athletics Championships for quite a while.

No, not a Sausage for Germany, their Wurst performance ever. They had Bronze snatched from their grasp in the last round of the Men's Javelin, couple that with early exits of their football teams in their respective World Cups points to a potential crisis in German sport. Incredible.

Only 2 Bronze medals for China. Eastern Europe almost shut out of the Field Event medals. North America dominant.
