Vydra said after Leeds it was 'his time'. I think it might be.

Personally would have played Poodle at LB but Hoban proven he's more versatile than first realised?

Hoban was shocking yesterday in my opinion.Backed off all the time to slow and got done nearly everytime wovles attacked they were attacking down that flank all the time and targeting him.I thought we were well lucky to come away with a point to be honest.

After 15 minutes during which he took time to settle nothing got past him. He had their bloke in his back pocket, had him beaten for pace and strength. So to say he got done nearly every time is plain wrong. What he didn't have was much support from the midfield. No one seemed to be dropping off to the left to back him up. He was often on his own.

He was frustrating at times in the first half, but got a bit better as the game went on. Then got sent off.

Is that what they said.I find that hard to believe Angella was by far the best defender again in my opinion.I don't know how they could say outstanding.I thought Hoban,Watson and Watford hat all had bad games.

In my opinion it is not plain wrong.I believe he has not made much progress lately and if we do go up he will not be good enough. In my opinion he looked like he was chasing shadows for most of the match.

Hard to make progress being in and out of the team so much (and playing out of position). I think he's done fine when called upon and Joka clearly rates him defensively as he's shoehorning him in on the left ahead of other options we have.

I hope he can get back to the form he was in before his injury,it looked like he was going to be a top player.

whoever said "he's just a tall Lloyd Doyley" was spot on. I've never been a massive fan of Hoban, but he's been OK in last few games, let down by his pace and distribution though.

Pretty sure Hoban beat Anya in sprint testing pre-season, the boy definitely isn't slow.

To be fair one of Hoban's strides is probably two of Anya's!

Hoban was phenomenal yesterday - made 5/6 perfectly timed, last ditch tackles to save a shot

Maybe it was the sun in people's eyes that distracted their view of each of these incidents!

Hoban's pace is deceptive, you don't expect someone with his physique to be darn quick, but he is. Big John McClelland was probably the fasted CB we've ever had & he was built like an oil tanker.

Best wishes to the lad in hospital from a Wolves fan in China

Quick one from a Wolves fan here and thanks to the administrators for letting me register.

Many proper Wolves fans have posted messages of goodwill to this Watford fan on the Molineux Mix site. This sort of thing saddens good, honest people and fans wherever they come from and whoever they support.

Best wishes to the fan with his recovery - assume they are male.

Good luck with the remainder of the season and also if you go up.

i remember once watching ****tu going on a lung-buster down the left wing and having a distinctly tvor-esque thought. he was so surprisingly graceful and speedy, and twice when players went to tackle him they just bumped off. could have been our gareth bale

To the Wolves fan that just posted
Your club definitely has issues with more than it's fair share of morons and there have been incidents before. Given this I thought the policing after the game was pathetic and it did feel like a throw back to the 80s. We do know though that the vast majority of Wolves fans are decent proper people

Agreed, but I fear for the future in terms of football related violence from both fans and also those hooligans who are priced out and join in before and after the match.

On the same day as our match there was also mayhem at Villa v WBA. It is quite evident from events at both matches that there was insufficient policing as a consequence of police overload and cutbacks. But, IMHO FWIW, there's a much deeper cause and that is the direction in which our country is moving.

With businesses laying people off, tax avoiding, closing and re-locating to more profitable parts of the world there will be even more decline in the cities and towns distant from London and its financial centre. With fewer state police, less state funding, more deprivation and more and more disillusioned and feral low-life running around I fear that our cities will become increasingly dangerous and similar to those no-go areas that are so common in the USA. Cameras, a few poorly paid and badly trained wardens and stewards, neighbourhood watch and private 'police' forces making a fast buck while politicians claim that reported crime is falling is simply the wrong track forwards for people who want to live in freedom and safety. If we can't travel to another town and have a sing song without seriously worrying about 'our' low-life and 'their' low-life, then what's it all about? A return to the mayhem of the seventies and eighties as society breaks down?

On a more positive note and to balance the dismay on this and Wolves forums about the assault on the guy who is now in hospital, I see that a collection of several hundred pounds has already been made by decent Wolves fans. Accusations, mischief-making and stupid claims abound but, in the end, this bloke should be at home with his family. There is great sympathy for the family from the decent majority in Wolverhampton.

I made the same observation on the forum about the injured fan - it has been dismissed as bulls*t by a few - I was making the broader point that society is a bit of a powder keg right now, but not explicitly linking it to Saturday's assault. One only has to look at the meteoric rise of the EDL to see that the anger & venom that once existed in football has been squeezed elsewhere. It would be an industrial scale tragedy if football gets sucked back into this as a result of policing pressures and societal undercurrents. Anyhow, back on topic....

Friend of mine was at the Villa v WBA game. Unbelievably they had a pub near the ground that they decide would be good to split in half, with Villa one side and WBA the other. Surprise surprise it kicked off there and carried on to the ground. He said he saw more Police than normal, but inside the ground there were way too few stewards.

    Who is making these calls?

Watching the highlights, that ref was really quite fat. How can he keep up with conditioned athletes? Surely they should have be a certain level of fitness to be a ref in the FL?

The irony was that the lino on the Watford fans' side was as thin as a whippet but was rarely up with play. Less of an issue with Watford's rather ponderous build up but he nearly cost us dearly with some of the longer balls to and from van la Parra. I thought Tommy Hoban did well to play to the whistle rather than relying on the calls for offside coming from behind him.

I'm probably underestimating it, but in play like that, why don't goalkeepers just stick out their left leg? 90% of the time it's a low shot and there's more chance of it just hitting your leg than getting to the floor in time to hold it.

I've always wondered this - goalkeepers just seem to go to ground too often.
