When the fixture list is published, half of us will be looking for the two AFCB fixtures first!

Loads of footballers (on big money) and their significant others (loads of whom enjoy spending it for them) like living near London. That is an advantage for us, not Bournemouth.

Before anyone asks, no, I do not have anything better to do -

Was looking at the Derby Telegraph's site to read up on reaction to Derby's collapse, and what do I find, a Bournemouth fan who has made a comment in one of the articles having a gloat -

    TopCherry
"Clinging on" McLaren on AFC Bournemouth - I don't think so. Good luck to the Rams next season when the manager has moved on to his "big" appointment

Excluding Luton I never thought I would find a team who I disliked more then Man United, I've found one now.

Enjoy your success and self-indulgence Bournemouth, you played above yourselves all season and we'll see who comes out on top next season.

And Brett Pitman - stop coming on TV saying how great you and Bournemouth are mate, don't big yourselves up too soon, pride comes before a fall.

I've said this before, i have been told Bournemouth will get rid of their entire current squad and bring in new ones. And i will laugh as hard as possible

Maybe £5 million is not silly money in his eyes, all a matter of opinions :)

At least when we bring in completely untested foreign players we don't bother paying a fee for them.

Poor old Callum Wilson. Maybe he'll throw himself at the feet of Eddie to keep his place in the side? He certainly knows the drill.

"Bournemouth's manager says he will look to improve his squad, but that the majority of his side will be given the chance to prove themselves in the top flight." That has been the Watford story in the top flight. Until now ... and look what happened to us on or last two visits to the promised land.

To be fair, if they could get him for £5mil, you'd have to say that looks like a decent signing on paper. He hasn't played in the Premier League, but he's certainly no Cornelius or Guerra.

Not the best goals-per-game ratio, but that's not all he brings to the game. If it was, Portugal probably wouldn't carry on selecting him with 17 caps and no goals! I reckon Bournemouth see him as a Kenwyne Jones style player who can give them a different option and is mainly involved in bringing others into play rather than scoring a lot himself.

I fancy him to be a decent signing for them if it goes through, though I'd prefer Deeney and Vydra personally.

Would anyone on here take Callum Wilson if we were offered him for £5mil? Of course it won't happen, but theoretically...

For a player who would be our 4th choice striker at best? No thanks.

I'd be extremely surprised if we sign another non-youth forward this summer (not including Vydra).

Have you seen Portugal play recently? They're absolutely abysmal. Rely on Ronaldo alone.

Huge losses covered by their chairman and everybody's still going on about the fairytale of Bournemouth's promotion. Already very tired of it, God knows how unbearable it'll be come August

If they wanted to pay off their debts, they'd immediately lose half of their TV money from the coming season.

The fact Howe is apparently ready to start buying players for £5 million is ludicrous in that context. Fits the Portsmouth model...you'd think a club which almost went out of existence due to crippling debt recently would be a bit more careful.

  24. csdxl

    csdxl One Millionth Post

Exactly what I was thinking - the next Portsmouth in the making. It's supremely arrogant of them to assume that just because they've reached the Prem that lightning won't strike twice, particularly if they start splashing out millions left, right and center for bog average players with fancy foreign names just because they can. Even without the debt issue, it's just not a sustainable way of running a club of that size.

Congrats and all to them for this year but I hope they enjoy it whilst it lasts. There's the potential for it to all come crashing down if they're not careful.

And wouldn't that be a shame. :naughty:

What strikers have done well though after performing well in Portugal and then coming to England? Genuine question as I can't think of any. Obviously I mean strikers rather than wingers like Nani/Ronaldo.

Van Wolfswinkle was awful, so was Postiga. Jardel was terrible too. Nuno Gomes as well but I suppose he was at the end of his career at that time!

Would be maybe harsh to count Falcao as he performed well in Spain and I suppose McCarthy had a good season in England too but was poor after.
