Was seriously questioning my judgement to go the match as I crawled round the M25 in rain so torrential you could barely see the car in front of you. Then, as we arrived at the ground, the sun broke through and an enormous rainbow appeared. Hoped it might be a good sign but was still resigned to the likelihood of a humiliating defeat - my sister and I even discussed at what score line we would give up and head home early. We exchanged nervous smiles with our fellow season ticket holders who sit around us - it was clear all of us were fearing the worst. And then….one of the most enjoyable matches I’ve ever been to at Vicarage Road followed. Of course the early goal helped but the atmosphere, the team performance, cohesion and spirit - all phenomenal. And made all the better by the fact that, for most of us, it was so unexpected. It seems almost unfair to highlight individual players after such a great team performance but, still, Choudhury, Davis and Pedro were standouts for me. Bachmann still gives me the heebie-jeebies on crosses but that’s for another day. Instead of leaving early, we ended up staying on at the end to soak up the atmosphere and, yes, absolutely to applaud the players off the pitch. Going straight to the ground instead of going into town as we usually do and then being held back for a while at the end with the rest of the Watford fans at the Rookery end led to another unexpected delight today - I didn’t come across a single L***n fan during the afternoon. And then, just when you thought things couldn’t get any better - Lloyd Doyley appeared among us as we were waiting at the end, to a rousing rendition of his song! Bloody hell, Watford, you are a Jekyll and Hyde of a team to support right now and the lows are bloody painful but today was sublime - thank you.
Another player meeting before the game according to WTE. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-defender-explains-players-talked-last-night/
What Nathan Jones hasn't admitted is getting the tactics wrong. Did he not watch the circus on Wednesday ? Why did their no.9 target Gosling and not Troost ?. Gosling maybe limited but if you want to fight him he will fight you . Troost must have been a bag of nerves before the game but their no.9 left him alone Bizarre
Fills the rest of the squad in one the importance of the games, scores a goal, and waves one of their thugs off the pitch with both hands and an expression of glee on his face. He might play poorly in the future, but the above facts should excuse him from getting any pelters for it because that's the stuff of legend right there.
Yep. He may have had some mares, but whatever happens, WTE has secured a place in the pantheon for me.
True. "I hear Jones is singing a song of a bug. I see his tears. I know that he knows he is a mug. Has been for years. I hear only Hatters in cages would say that they're a worthy team. I hear only Hatters in cages would claim that they'd win this game. Will you still have a song to sing when the Hornet Boys play and take all three points away? Will you still be whinging on a cold and windy day?"
I expected nothing. And turned out to be one of my favourite performances for many a year for today only all is forgiven
The ground staff are having to do a deep clean of the away end for the next 48 hours. This guy has just finished his maximum of 10 minutes in there.
Forget the Pozzo stuff, if we'd played like those ****s up the M1 did today then I'd be absolutely furious. What an embarrassing performance from them, all their fans were so cocky before the game too!
What I did like was that from Davis celebrations in front of the Luton supporters right through the WTE double wave to the red card we had some top *********ry elements going on. We usually see that from a lot of opponents and I wouldn’t say I want to see it from us every week but it showed they knew what it meant. Giving it large is part of the deal.
Why would you not want to see it every week? I want teams to hate playing us. I hope we $hithouse every single week. I want a return to the glory days of Fessi winding opponents up with outrageous dives and party tricks when we’re smashing teams. I want the opposition taken out of their comfort zone and wound up every single time we go onto the field. I want Gosling stepping on toes and JP taking the piss each and every week. Everybody hates us anyway, we might as well do it properly.
