Where does Watford begin and end? I wouldn't count because I was born in London (and crap at football to boot), but I grew up in Garston, would that count?
Previous to Robbo (possibly Fisken but was he born in Watford) scoring a goal the previous Watford born player to score would have been Kenny Jackett who stopped playing for us in 1990,
Disappointing that the stadium announcer didn't welcome Eustice. A very good player and great club man.
Thought Birmingham offered very little but when they did threaten Bachmann made some good saves. First half was lethargic and boring but whatever was said at half time worked because it was much better in the second 45. Better passing, better awareness of where teammates were and just overall more energetic. Rajovic didn’t do much at all but popped up with a delightful header which effectively ended any Birmingham chance of a point. COYH
Real borderline case and as I'm not the mayor of Watford (yet) I don't feel qualified to say. My inclination would be to say Garston is a suburb of Watford rather than a distinct settlement (as Abbots is). Happy to be corrected though.
IMO Watford conurbation ends at the roundabout of Hempstead Road/M25; Red Lion/Hilton on A41; The Alpine Bushey Heath; Junction Horseshoe Lane and StAlbans Road and North Orbital; Rousebarn Lane along back of Whippendell Woods.
The 1st half was the result of us playing a midfield of TDB, Louza and Sierralta. That midfield stinks and the sooner we change this the better. We dont need a defensive midfielder and if we do play someone in a deeper role, it should still be a midfielder that can bring the ball forward. Our play is far too defensive and when we bring on attacking reinforcements, teams cant deal with us and it has shown in every game this season when Georgi and Asprilla come on for cameos. Southgate does the exact same thing with England, essentially opting for defensive instead of offence = boring, slow football and closer matches than they really should be
Looks about right, what's the source? I bet the Grove paid to have the border moved so that they can claim to be in the fictional village of 'Chandler's Cross'.
But our CBs get way too easily exposed already when the opposition manage to nick the ball off us - I dread to think how many we'd concede on the counter if we didn't also have Sierralta helping to shield them a bit. He does also occasionally pop up in more advanced areas when we're going for it. Sure it'd be great if we can have a DM who can do it all, but for now with the rest of our setup and the limited strength of our other CMs I think a more destroyer type like Sierralta makes the most sense than more of a playmaker.
I kind of agree in that he was actually quite good at bringing the ball under control while under pressure at times, but then the main problem was that once he'd done that he usually gave a sloppy pass to the opposition instead of one of our own players.
Both times we’ve won this season we’ve then had a midweek fixture, so we’ve been unable to enjoy it for the whole week! And the opposite every time we’ve lost!
I used to go to the pub in Chandler's Cross when I was at school. I think it has turned into a bistro or something now.
It was good in the Rookery for 20-25 mins, maybe a notch above normal, but as the first half petered out the enthusiasm dropped.
