He does seem a bit more like a winger than a centre forward to me (though he could do a job there in an emergency). He's not at the stage where I'd want him starting for us, but he'd have his uses in coming on as a sub in games we're already leading to run the channels, set up counter attacks and hold the ball up. Whether that would be worth us paying money for and having him use up a place on the bench is another matter. He probably wouldn't cost a huge amount, especially if QPR got relegated, as he'll only have 1 year left on his contract this summer. It would depend on what we do with our other wingers in the summer, how we rate Hurtado, and what we do with Healey. He could be a helpful option for us with potential to improve, but a winger on either flank who can add more of a consistent goal threat than someone like Martins should be more of a priority if we're strapped for cash and have space for only one more attacking player in the squad.
Seem to remember us sniffing around last time we got promoted. Hopefully we’re still thinking about him, could get him for a decent price if they go down. Nice player.
There are quite a few I'd take from QPR. Willock, Chair, Armstrong, Colback. All would enhance our squad, imo.
So the rumour on Chak has gone from "I want my loan terminated" to "signing permanently" within a week - ah the January transfer window. I like him. Happy to keep him!
Fair comments. I think out wide we lack any real pace with our players. apart from Andrews on the overlap. I just really liked what i saw from Armstrong Sunday. But it does all boil down to who goes and stays. I would be happy to see him arrive though.
I think if we sit down with QPR, we can get a deal that will cushion the blow of losing him. I think this one might have legs.
Any Chairs we get will be from IKEA, called something that sounds like Smurgenfroem and will fall to bits within a few weeks.
Armstrong looks like the kind of player that was probably a monster at youth level because of his size, but now he's in senior football all he has is his physicality and he can't actually play football.
I think he looked good against us. Think he was unlucky not to have scored a couple of goals. Drew three good saves from Hamer, but did miss an easy header. Was a threat to our back line all afternoon though. Only 20, so is likely to improve but already has a lot of good attributes. But you can’t ignore only 1 goal in 23 Championship matches. That’s half a season. If we could get him on a free, I’d snap him up, as there is a player there, but clearly needs to work in his finishing.
Yes, of course, but with the (potential) new investment we may be in a position to invest a little this summer I’m hoping.
Reminds me of another Isaac Success, or even Ollie Burke. Built like a brick sharthouse, and will bulldoze past a lot of defenders. But let down by a terrible football IQ. Which only leads to a lack of goals once found out.
Baah? How bad is his injury? a risk to rely on him or hurtado but does mean deleting two younger prospects if this season isn’t considered to be the be all
I’ll be honest, I don’t think Ince is seen as a preferred wing option anyway currently. Think the preference is to bring another midfielder in to free up Giorgi as a wing option.
Yuck. Giorgi just does not offer enough attacking threat to be a viable wing option in this day and age, when there's an abundance of decent inverted left wingers out there and a reliance on them to score goals.
Don’t understand a lot of the chak hate, took him a while to settle and still don’t think he’s 100% but I think he’s looked a class act in the last month and think he will be one of our best players in the second half of the season
Agree but do think he's looked a lot better in midfield. There might be a question as to whether he and Kone can play as the two #8s as both prefer the left side.
Kone is 3 years younger and already offers all that Chak does and more. Chak is the player his stats suggested before he arrived - dribbles forward with the ball well, but basically zero end product. If he's a backup midfielder who costs basically nothing than fine, but I wouldn't be relying on him as a winger to provide attacking output.
Seems a random name to put on here, unless you've heard something! Seems to have had a good record in Belgium (!), but played just once in the Champo last season with Sheffield United, not good enough to get into their team, or was there another reason for the lack of game time?
He had knee surgery at the start of their Championship season (Aug 22) and then had recurring issues with it throughout the season. He is supposedly back fit and has been made available for loan, so considering he fits the type of midfielder we'll probably be looking to bring in and wouldn't cost anything I suppose it wouldn't be a surprise if we ended up being linked.
