I would accept that but we need to sell Sarr first, and even then with the (hopefully) £20M we could surely get somebody better with Tom Ince in this area.
Not necessarily. Make a big sale people know you have money in your pocket. I'd also doubt that any money we get for Sarr will be reinvested, just a small % of it. We also need to find a club stupid enough to spend money on Sarr...
So run this by me again. We are paying £50k for a very experienced Championship player who scores and creates goals, who knows our division very well and who hardly gets injured? Rather than signing some unknown punt from an overseas league who has a better YouTube highlights video and maybe a nicer personality in opposition? Uff I don’t like the sound of this at all. Just as I was starting to feel more positive about Manga and the Behemoth too.
Do you think that maybe they misheard the source who said "Gino is eating quorn mince." to "Gino is signing Tom Ince" Clutching at staws here.
Sarr is what, 25? Young, athletic has amazing pace (sometimes) and can score goals. His one downfall appears to be his attitude but again that is just from a fan point of view. He was clearly hiding last season, actually so was the entire team so there is that. Sarr needs an environment that can nerture him and he can florish in. We currently cannot do that, but there must be a club who will take a chance on him and give him that chance to expand his career. Next season he's a free agent and we can kiss goodbye to any transfer money. It's a real shame Slippy G turned him down last Summer.
I can see the logic of Ince being part of a senior leadership side to help with younger player development in the squad. We've missed Cleverley and Gosling's presence in training and to help with the mental resilience of the squad and I expect aren't getting renewed. English, knows the league etc. That said, I would hope we get the other signings confirmed too. We at least have a plan to put together a team that has a strong core knowledge of the league and to help acclimatise overseas / unfamiliar signings to it sooner. If it's 2 years plus 1 year option then it's a more palatable contract too.
Ding ding ding! Good signing for a mid table Championship side, people need to start shifting their expectations unfortunately. 3 year deal is excessive though, hopefully it's 2 with an option, or something like that.
If he signs, my attention will be firmly on how he performs next season. Not on worrying about 2025-26.
Was starting to get interested in summer signings. But Tom Ince would remove the middle stump from that interest
We should only be signing ‘nice’ and ‘friendly’ players who say all the happy-go-lucky things in front of the camera after we lose 3-0 to Millwall. Look at how well that went for us last season.
Was their player of the season, which probably doesn’t mean much to a relegated side, but they wouldn’t have gone down without their points deduction.
Feel like i'm more underwhelmed by this than I should be because I despise him and his dad. Remember singing 'your dad's a C*** and so are you' for a good 10 minutes at him once before he inevitably scored against us again.
With some players, it’s not a question of will they play for us, just when. And that’s usually when they are past their best. No problem with a bit of attitude though.
I only know him from playing against us, so based on that he's a goal a game superstar. Get this done Gino!
Not the worst signing and at that price it is a bargain. Tom Ince scored 9 goals and managed 4 assists last season for a side that were relegated. Pedro only scored 11 goals and managed 4 assists and we received 30 million for him. Tom Ince was also Reading's player of the season and fans' player of the season last season.
I knew he was a good Championship player, I have to say I didn't realise he was quite as good as he was. Obviously he's not that good still, or else we wouldn't be able to afford him, but he had a good season in a **** team last season, if we do go on to sign the players we've been linked with, it could be a good signing (unless, and this would surprise absolutely nobody, he turns out to be a disruptive influence)
It's a shame Cassetti isn't playing for us anymore if this was the case. Might still have a few choice words for him lingering from a certain penalty dive...
I don’t like him. He is an annoying little ****. However he always seems to do something against us and I imagine I’m not the only one who used to see his name on the opposition team sheet and just get that feeling he was going to grab a goal or assist. I don’t mind his age, he can come in and do a job. 3 years is a year too long mind you.
