£6mil transfer fee.

Probably imagining things but I thought it was stated somewhere that if we wanted to make him permanent, it was less than £5mil.

 

Whatever a possible fee, we agreed it before the season and took him on a loan with a buy option, so if we do sign him, it's already set and budgeted for

 

It was described by Newcastle as an option to buy rather than an obligation. So I'd be very surprised if we're signing him. And even if a fee was agreed last summer to trigger that option, there's no reason Watford couldn't gone back and try and negotiate down.

Personally I think we should be trying to negotiate compensation from them for the trauma of having to watch his half arsed efforts all season.

Would rather see us sign someone like Burrows from Peterborough, who I think is out of contract at the end of the season, then spend what little money we have on Lewis.

 

He's showed his versatility tonight, if he doesn't prove to be a good LB at our level, he'll make a cracking goalkeeper!

 

I tell you what, he's put more crosses and more quality crosses into the box in this one game then Lewis and Sema managed all season combined

 

Jamal Lewis isn’t joining permanently so that topic can be killed off quite quickly.

Wouldn't be disappointed with that. Burrows has put up some very decent stats and is in a free. With that he will be interesting many clubs.

 

He's not on a free - has a one year extension to his contract.

 

But Burnsy, you're spoiling the fun of all the doom and gloomers who wish to indulge and wallow in bizarre fantasies whereby we waste our entire transfer budget on signing him!

 

I think if we add another £2m they might change their mind and sell.

Maybe some shoddy sources have not done sufficient due dilligence on their reporting and only took the headline figure; ignoring or not seeing the part about the extra year:

So have we got knocked back by Joyce then?

If it wasn't him then who is else could Clevs have had in mind?

I’m not entirely convinced that Cleverley is going to get someone that fits his brief on this one.

I’ve been told that Joyce was the target but finances mean it won’t happen.

I suspect it’s going to be someone from abroad, who Gino can put in charge if the Cleverley ‘experiment’ goes t1ts up.

 

Presumably someone who doesn't speak English.

 

Hopefully Cleverley is learning his first lesson, which is don't publicly set your stall out describing the person you want in all but name if you haven't got the deal done and through Gino.

I think everyone thought Joyce was a done deal - but didn’t factor in that Forest would ask for compensation (which Gino wouldn’t pay).
