Third Lanark were a member of the Scottish League until financial collapse ended their membership in the 1966/67 season. They played at Cathkin Park which about 300-400 yards from Hampden Park. Cathkin is still there and the terracing, although in places is overgrown with trees, is still there and has been cleared in places so you can stand on it - the crush barriers are also still there. The only part of the old ground to be demolished is the main stand and clubhouse.

I was one of a group of 8 Watford fans who travelled to Glasgow this weekend and visited the ground (amidst Storm Dennis). It's quite incredible that it's still there in some form after all these years.

The other part of the story is that Queen's Park are playing at the main Hampden Park stadium for the last season - next year they are moving to Lesser Hampden right behind one end of Hampden (the Rangers end). Yesterday they played Elgin City (who had about 50 fans there) and won 2-0 in front of a crowd of 583.

Have to say it was a really good day, the Queen's Park fans and club employees were chuffed to bits that we'd taken their game in. Their clubhouse, which is quite new, was very impressive for such a small club. They have a long history which is depicted on the walls including a profile of Malky Mackay.

Really good to get away from Premier League football and back to where people do jobs for the love of the game.
