Edit. I will confess that when it arrived it looked like TV had really scraped out the bottom of the barrel, but I was wrong. And then Naked Attraction appeared.

 

Lives could literally be lost if Paul O’Grady was to take up weather presenting.

He could explain a life threatening hurricane was coming and forum heterosexists would be saying oh perlease, tone it down will you?

Strongly disagree. I think there's a real light hearted warmth about gogglebox. I particularly like the family with the cakes and the rottweiler

Gogglebox is great.

 

I don’t think Gogglebox is that at all or at least the general feeling you are left with is affection. All the contributors get time to showcase their views and emotions.

Sometimes, like the two young Geordie women, they do say some staggeringly daft things, but you don’t look down on them for it.

 

I spend good money on Spotify and so I don’t appreciate having **** podcasts starting Nish chuffing Kumar pushed on me.

 

Spotify’s algorithms are off the scale wrong. Absolutely ******* clueless.

I watched one episode of The Mash Report once and it was soooo awful I never watched it again.

Then I saw on social media that people were upset it was cancelled and we're calling it "an agenda by the BBC" or something. I just assumed the viewing figures were just píss poor.

I saw Dave is picking it up and calling it the night mash or something. Won't watch that either.

Haven´t heard the new music from ABBA, is the return something to hate?

 

There’s a history of hating ABBA most notably in Sweden itself where there was a demonstration and alternative music festival the year after they won to protest against crap commercial music.

Since then Swedes have taken ABBA to their hearts as have most people with half a brain. Who doesn’t love their fantastic mix of pop, disco, rock, classical, folk and schlager and their outstanding melodies?

However, the anti-commercial movement got one thing right. You only have to look at the music that dominated the 80s, from Stock, Aitken and Waterman to Chris de Burgh and Steve Winwood, Michael Macdonald, Alexander O’Neil etc to see what terrible things happen when commercial interests rather than songwriters or youth movements dominate the charts.

Can’t hate ABBA though.

 

I’m a bit indifferent to their return but Bjorn and Benny are just genius songwriters. ‘The Winner Takes It All’ is one of the greatest pop songs of all time IMO. ‘The Day Before You Came’ is almost as good.

PS I also have a soft spot for ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ before we totally write off SAW.

 

I can understand the virtual concerts to a certain degree, but if the lasses can still sing live (and maybe they can’t as they are both in their 70s) then I think we can understand they might have aged a bit.

 

Yes. The virtual thing puzzles me a bit. I saw Kraftwerk live a couple of years ago and they were superb despite their age. Mind you, they don’t move much or have soaring female vocals.

 

100% agree. The worst that could happen, and it's very likely, is that the new music produced will be a real disappointment for all the fans expecting music as vibrant and catchy as their peak output. I find it very easy to really like their stuff whilst also liking the stranglers, clash etc from the same time period.
