And yet those selfsame Palace fan-owners couldn't wait to sell the name of the Stadium and rename it the 2bit...er 12bet Stadium.

The thing about Palace's owners is despite being fans they have no clue what they are doing. Being fans of the club is a dangerous thing, obviously any owner wants their club to succeed, but as a fan you are likely to want that over the business. Clubs such as Cardiff and Hull have upset fans because they have made choices without worrying about them.

Is there a happy medium? I'm not sure but when the Pozzos arrived here their first statement was about making the club a self sufficient one. It wasn't about bringing top flight football here at any cost and that has sat well with me. I believe it will happen, we were so close last season.

TBH you could never accuse Palace fans of selling out, they have a pretty solid fanbase that did voice their opinions when their owners made changes, or tried to. However the club itself has behaved as dodgy as it comes and their administration was definitely no accident.

Well, well, well. It seems that, contrary to what some palace fans say, many are at peace with what we are doing.

I particularly like the claim that we are somewhere between utd and city, I read into this that we will end up second next season

At least they talk some sense but they also seem to think we've continued down the loan route. They also don't have much clue about how the FFP works and even if our players cost us nothing (which I seriously doubt) they would still have a value attributed them and therefore we are 100% not fiddling our way around the FFP rules. However I don't expect those valuations are going to be at UK prices as we have acquired the players from Italy and Spain and remember self developed player costs are lower. IMO they may well have already been valued as part of the FL clearance.

Beyond caring what any other fans think about us and the Pozzo way of running things. This unhealthy obsession with Palace and their fans and the need of some Watford fans to go to absurd lengths on their board to argue the point is quite frankly embarrassing.

Some folks will get what is going on here whilst the ill informed won't but hell that's life get over it any enjoy the ride.

I prefer it when other fans are moaning about us.
That's what you get for drawing away to Reading, no moaning.
I hope we win big this Sunday, I miss the moans..

3 English players on show last night in City vs Newcastle and one of those got sent off for thuggery.

Not a word about the future of English football.

But as the formerly respectable Jeff Stelling said, 'obviously the premier league teams aren't going to play young English players but a championship club?'

I've just read that Palace thread and i'm a tad confused. Since when have the Football League been in the business of assigning 'notional values' to players? What the fark has player values got to do with them? If what these people are saying is true, i'd be very interested to know how they assign a notional value to a player signed under a Bosman.

It's all to do with FFP and arms length transactions ... even if we got our players for free they still have a value.

With a Bosman there's still a financial outlay be it a signing on fee or relatively high wages.

I think it may have to do with this rule from The Football League.

With the embargo AND this, I'm sure that is why there was a delay in announcements. A lot of paperwork to complete and investigate. However, due to the embargo, if this WAS actually an issue it would have been flagged up.

Completely the wrong track as free transfers are common and pretty much happen at every club; I think you'll find this rule is to do with clubs cheating other clubs out of a fee.
However FFP do consider true value though I'm not sure exactly when in the chain.

Can someone explain to me the thinking that Premier League teams should be free to stuff their team full of foreign players, but Championship teams have a duty to play undercooked home grown youngsters, 5% of whom may make it to the Premier League and even the England team?

I just don't get the logic, but it seems to be the thinking in the media, especially the limited former player pundits like Cottee.

There would still be a case for those rules though. I'm not saying there is, but there could under "conflict of interest" as people are saying we are avoiding paying a fee. It's a non-story/argument basically as all transfers have and are being ratified by the league. If they say they fine and then come back to charge us with misconduct then we have a case against them as they would have sanctioned the deals. Basically, it's all *******s.

Ah - you see the overseas players bring the quality to the Premier league so it can be called the "best league in the world" so of course no-one will really complain.

You'd have better luck finding a Leprechaun's pot of gold than coming across a Sky person who dares to criticise the mighty Premiership. It is everything that is good in football.

I have lost interest in the premiership, but will regain it once (or if and when) we are promoted, but I did not realise, until reading your post, that there is no home grown player rule in the top division. Am I interpreting that correctly? That is incredible, if it is the case. Completely illogical to have one rule for the Prem and a different rule for the FL.

I think those rules relate more to clubs making deals to deliberatly short other clubs out of money. For example if a player has a sell on clause and club a says the sale was £1 plus Gareth Bale.

Or if Mcgugan had a clause relating to selling to a championship rival that was circumvented by udinese buying then selling direct to us. (I know that wasn't the case before you say).

It does make one wonder what we're going to do when McGugan goes back to Udinese.
