Everyone used to make a mad dash for the exit at the end of a film when I was a kid, so as not to get caught by the National Anthem. It was always played in cinemas at the end of films and if you were still in there when it started you had to stand still until it finished. They must have stopped playing it about 40 years ago.

i won't have been entirely objectionable to a mccain executivetyiness. but i really dislike palin and the social policies that i associate her with but were probably already there anyway.

McCain is not a bad person. He was the right man for the job when Bush got it in 2000. However, he has made some absolutely unforgiveable tactical errors in hos campaign, not the least of which was showing how poor his judgement is by selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate. The race would have been VERY tight with any other VP selection, and probably as lopsided a victory for McCain as they are predicting right now for Obama if he had selected Joe Leiberman as his running mate.

I do not think he would be a BAD president, though he certainly has done nothing to show why electing him wouldn't be the same thing as having Bush agian for four more years plus Sarah Palin...

If he loses tomorrow, he screwed it up himself.

Thanks for revealing the Boothroyd story to me fan. I didn't yet know until I read this thread.

I'm wearing one of my Obama shirts today.

If he wins, I am getting drunk like if Watford won the Champions League and will nurse a hangover all day Wednesday. A glorious barfy head throbbing victorious hangover.

If he loses, what do you say we swap places, Y&P? What sort of work do you do? You would do well in sales, based on your posts. You can take over payments on my house and I'll move my wife and mother-in-law into your place.

I was doing some Geogrpahy coursework today. Honestly, I don't know if I'd be able to cope with Obama's policies on Upper-Sixth Education, whereas McCain's is fantastic from what I've read.

Frankly, I think we'd both thrive. I'd bring fresh blood to Nissan and wouldn't mind an oriental, gym-going wife, whilst you can stay here, go to school, use your middle-aged man knowledge to pass the newly-easy exams that I'm taking and eat my mum's cooked dinners every evening. And St Albans has the highest number of pubs per square mile in the country.

Trust me, and I say this knowing she never comes to this board, you don't want a Korean wife. Biggest pains in the arse ever.

One thing for absodamnlutely sure is that neither Obama nor McCain will have one iota of an effect on the school systems here. NONE.

The only thing that effects schools here are state politics. Our public schools are dreadful even when they are up to standards. I will be a terrible parent to my fictional kid's teachers.

Is that public as in public or as in private? Because over here we call our paid schools public schools. Much like the one I frequent.

Frankly I'd rather live on the corner of Torrance & Crenshaw rather than Kingsbury & Mount Pleasant. Although I'm sure I'd get sick of it once the sun and footbawl lost its sheen.

And don't forget, that I know where you live and where you spend your saturdays, I also know that you go to a gym, probably the one closest to your house. If I wanted to I could find a way to contact your wife and tell her your slanderous comments. Then I wouldn't need to switch places with you to get her.

    Bwahaha

Public is funded by tax dollars here. State tax dollars.
Private schools you have to pay out of pocket for here.

I do not like the experience most kids go through in public schools. It was a total waste of my time. I wish I could have those years back and done something rewarding. Still, I don't know how to solve the riddle of making most kids literate without boring the crap out of other kids.

That's a lot nicer than my McCain one. To be fair it was bought at a non-specific shop at the bottom of the Rockerfeller while I was getting a Mountain Dew, so the standard is low.

    Sympathy vote.

I'm not being overly horrible here. Well, maybe I am. But do you think that there's a slight possibility that Obama's granny may have died a while ago, and that they were holding onto it until now to have to maximum effect. Like Hillary up Everest.

Anything is possible. When did Hillary Clinton go up Everest?

    Kidding.

I doubt there is anything conspiratorial here, because Obama doesn't seem to need to use his dead granny, frankly. Famous last words, but he appears to be kicking the **** out of McCain already. The granny thing hasn't been in the news that much, except that he went back for a few days to be with her. It's not a focus of his campaign.

As this historic election comes upon it's end, and Americans all across the country prepare to make their final choice in this long and deeply engaging campaign, I have been reflecting on Barack Obama and the meaning of his race in the context of being the person sitting in the highest position in the land and possibly even the globe:
Will Barack Obama be the first US president who can dunk?

President Ford was actualy a good player. Forgot which position, but football. Nixon, too I think. It's the right wing sport. Baseball is the left wing sport. Or at least it was.
